  • Can you say 'Hesperocyparis macrocarpa’? That is officially the name of the rare Monterey cypress tree, which is a coniferous or evergreen type of tree.
    Crocker Grove is home to the largest and oldest Monterey Cypress trees in existence. Crocker Grove is Stop 11 on the 17-Mile Drive just south of San Francisco near Pebble Beach. This scenic location is named after Charles Crocker, one of the railroad barons responsible for building the luxurious Hotel Del Monte in Monterey and the original 17-Mile Drive way back in 1881. Pebble Beach contains one of only two native Monterey Cypress forests in the entire world.
