RÜDESHEIM Germany and Castles Middle Rhine Valley [Travel Guide]

- Welcome to one of Germany’s most unique treasures: The Rhine Gorge (upper middle Rhine valley)! It is a landscape of beautiful villages, vineyards and castles that is considered UNESCO World Heritage! It is a culturally and historically very interesting region to visit in Germany. Well-known is the town of Rüdesheim that is admired for its wines, beautiful houses and famous Drosselgasse. The Drosselgasse is a very picturesque alley that is considered the most popular spot in the town of Rüdesheim. The entire region is famous for its wines: Federweisser, Riesling and Icewine. A must is a visit to the vineyards above Rüdesheim; a great location for going on a hike. Just at the top of the hills is this massive monument called Niederwalddenkmal. It was built after the formation of the German empire. From the Niederwalddenkmal, you may also enjoy a brilliant view over Rüdesheim, the Rine and the surrounding vineyards. It is definitely worth to stay for a few days in this region as there are plenty of castles on the left and righten shore of the river Rhine. There are roughly 30 castles, thus plenty of medieval sites to visit! Worth to see are the castles Burg Sooneck, Rheinstein, Pfalzgrafenstein and Rheinfels. The latter is quite a large castle just at the top of this beautiful village St. Goar. It is perfect to just combine both: first seeing the castle Burg Rheinfels and then roam around the village’s alleys. St. Goar is considered quite less-touristy, but is a beautiful traditional German village. All in all, despite quite historic, this region is not overly touristy, certainly also because there are plenty of castles to visit!

Which location was your FAVORITE?
Thank you. We enjoyed your video. We especially appreciated when there was no music in the background. It then felt like we were walking with you and hearing the sounds of the place, the people, the birds etc. and being there with you..
I love Rudesheim. Went as a child and as an adult several times.😊
Thanks Djemo for sharing this absolutely wonderful video n for showing your lovely explorations in Germany. Really charming.

Hallo. Mir hat es dort wirklich gut gefallen. Leider hatte ich einfach zu wenig Zeit zum filmen. Ich muss da wieder hin. Auch habe ich noch zu viele Burgen nicht gesehen. Woher kommst du aus D?

Welcome to the Philippines in March.. Keep safe po lagi..

The monument is very impressive. And the castles are simply delightful. But Switzerland is also very rich in historical places. For example Sion. May be later you will visit this place and share with us.
Hi Gala. Thanks for your comment. Yes, we also have really beautiful and historic castles in Switzerland. I guess the very unique thing about the middle Rhine valley is the high density in castles, which is considered very rare worldwide. Sion is beautiful! It will appear in one of my upcoming videos. I showed Sion in my Top 15 Valais video I produced in 2021 :) Did you have a chance to watch it?
@@DjemoGraphic Certainly, I'll do all my best to find this video. It's a great pleasure to watch every one of them. Good luck!

We visited Berg Eltz last year, which is on the northern Moselle. It was wonderful! I think you would love it!!! 🇩🇪❤️👍🏼
Hi Marion. That's great. I have never been there. I will check the place out. Thanks a lot for the recommendation :) I intend to return to this region because I have not seen enough... by far!
There are plenty of interesting Castles to visit in the region. Burg Eltz on the Moselle and the Marksburg on the Rhine are 2 of the most interesting.

Hi Reese. Thank you very much for your interest. We can provide you a license for it, what would be your budget for this?

Hey there, most of the time i really enjoy your content and videos. But on this one i have to give u feedback. 8 Minutes and 30 seconds for the middle rhine valley? I am sorry Djemo, this location deserves way more, even a series. It's one of the most iconic areas in Germany and on with the most fascinating history and this cannot be filmed in 8 Minutes. U even did not show the most important Castle of all, The Marksburg, which in fact really is the only one which was not destroyed in its history. Please, next time when u film and portray this area do it in a proper manor. It deserves it. When u need help let me know as i am living nearby and know it very well (Castles, area as well as the history). Thankyou.
Hi. I agree with you. Unfortunately, my time there was limited. I went there primarily for visiting Andreas. I was there for 3 full days, as he was working otherwise. We were lucky regarding the weather on Friday. Unfortunately, on Saturday it was moody, rain and cloudy but Sunday was totally rainy. The combination of all of it led to limited time for filming. I normally quite need some time. If I went there on my own, I would have entered about 3-5 castles. Well, I will surely revisit Andreas. Next time focussing more on other castles, possibly also going for a Rhine cruise and surely show more of Rüdesheim and include tasting of local wines. Definitely, this is a very historically rich region!

Thank you Ninad!

I googled before going and it just doesn't do it justice
Hi Jamie. I agree, it looks a lot better in real! I wish I had better weather. Unfortunately, most of the time it was cloudy or it rained. I will go there again, I have not seen much of the middle rhine valley (Rhine Gorge)
