I've been in a number of long distance relationships...they've all ended in failure. There's just so many women out there playing the field using the long game with guys living abroad. Finding that down to earth Thai girl with traditional values has become far more difficult than it used to be. If you do decide to go that route, most certainly understand the risks and don't get your hopes up to much.
I will say though, they really do not know if someone will return.

Very common just usually its the falung finding out the cousin is the husband and told to disappear from the village or you will disappear leaving his beautiful new home and wife behind and yes the family always knows and will never speak up saying thats not right the falung hasn't done anything wrong yes he has he's not thai been married long time very lucky but my wife will still listen to her friends more than her falung husband 😮

Went back in 5 months and got engaged. She lived with her sister. Hard to explain but you know when you know. Been coming to Thailand since the late 80s. I think I'm pretty good at reading people. Best person I've ever met, bright her daughter over. She's in college now. Both are amazing. Lucky??? Maybe lol

1. I think its his duty to warn the USA fiance. The tricky part is the USA man cannot tell her how she found out or the Thai man will get village retaliation.
2. Red Flags should often be taken much more serious as warnings. The thai I have pursued are always very open, clear, transparent in what they are doing at any moment I ask, etc.
3. Love the flock together saying. Example is I am currently considering a 50 year old office manager and her friends are modest and hard working.
4. Mr Thai lover boy unfortunately appears defenseless against following what the heart wants. I would say same as you what kind of future life, if any if she returns. Why would she change and I don't know his particular village culture details however would he be a bit of the village joke?

Interesting, Brian! I have an university educated Issan girlfriend and she is 100% not like that, but she knows that it’s happening in hers and the neighboring villages. If I were this Thai guy, I would dump her 100% and if I could get hold of the American bf, I would for sure warn him. It’s terrible that this is happening and many lives are being screwed up because of gold diggers and their families. Same applies to families that send their young beautiful daughters to places like Pattaya for prostitution, so that the family can benefit as they send home money to them. All about the almighty Baht! Or $!

I’ll give you an example. Lol. My wife’s ex husband was Canadian. He did the Canadian version. His wife passed away. His wife was his high school sweetheart. He had zero experience with women and dating. ( this is the only type of guy that can get in trouble)
So what does the poor bastard do? He goes on Thai friendly and meets my wife who was a school teacher. He flys to Thailand after a few months and marrys her. They bounce back and forth to Thailand, he gets her a 10 year travel visa to the USA gets her a permanent resident card in Canada. On their third trip to Thailand he buys a house in a gated village in chains Mai. Then they kinda get integrated in Thai life and he starts realizing Thai women are hitting on him. He’s never had this. He decides he wants to be single.
So the guy asks my wife for a divorce. He tells her to keep the house which was in her name and pays her cost of living for the next year. She’s devastated and 2 years later we meet.
When I asked her to come to the USA she already had a visa. She’s the opposite of the bar girls I’ve met and far nicer than any non bar girl I had met in the 20 years of visiting Thailand so I invited her to visit and bought her a round trip ticket.
We’ve been married 5 years in may. You just got to be smart.
My buddy met his Chinese ex wife through a dating site in the USA on her trip to the USA. A us Chinese matchmaker set it up through that site for her. That’s what she does for a living. He did everything I did. Only the minute they got married she changed like a switch was flipped. Totally screwed him but luckily he was insulated enough and just got out of it with the cost of a Mercedes and alimony for a couple years. Lol
