Could you have also put the fork in before the train of wheels so you don't have to feed it under the centre wheel?

It is a matter of preference. Pallet-last lets the wheels rotate first so I know if they are in the pivots. Pallet-first and the wheels won't rotate so you would judge by inspection of pivots in the jewels.

Very proud of it. This way of removing the seconds hand by the dial gave instant answer. Might not have diagnosed issue as quickly otherwise.
