When you first put the cadmium yellow-orange card up I thought you had written "Good god!" under the gradation and expected you'd be trashing it. 🤣 Obviously time to have the vision prescription tested again!
Great swatch card design! Clarifies my thinking about a color at a glance. Your expert, focused commentary clarifies my thinking even more, of course. :D
thank you so much. So glad you like the new swatch card design :D
Great video! Love your swatch sheets! I hope you do the same kind of series for all your other watercolor lines: id love to see swatch sheets like this for the original Roman Szmal colors, for the Holbein colors you have and your Qor watercolors☺️. Anyway you make some of the BEST swatching and paint review videos, thank you for all the time and energy you put in to make these beautiful videos for us.. Your rock. Thank you. Much love💜💚
PS--- I did notice in this video you didnt mention anything about lightfastness---I love your videos and I only bring that up because several colors and pigments Shinhan uses in their professional line are fair to low lightfast and even fugitive-which means many of Shinhans colors are not very lightfast. So anybody who is interested in this set and lightfastness IS important to you its probably a good idea to do do your own lightfast testing or possibly even just researching lesser used or known pigments...Hope this helps.
Love your Videos so so so much!!!
I love them all!! That Vermilion hue is a gorgeous color!! 🧡😻 There's a lot of pigments here that I don't have in my stash, I'll have to look into this!
The perm yellow deep is so warm and happy
These swatch cards are fantastic! I think my favorites of the group would be Lemon Yellow and Permanent Yellow Deep. Looking forward to this series!
Those cards are so good I will definitely make copies of them for all my (oil and wc) paints.
So glad you like the new swatch cards. I think they are quicker to make but covers the most important factors.
yayyy new oto video!!! i still haven't psyched myself up and bought myself some shinhan paints, but i really want to soon. even the less lightfast offerings in this set (like the permanent yellow light and vermilion hue) would be fun to play with in sketchbooks and scanned art, i think :o
Looking forward to seeing more of the line, looks good to me 😍 thx for sharing!
Not sure if you’re interested/concerned about lightfastness but I believe PY1, PO13, and PO16 are quite fugitive.
Yeah I think they went for bright colors over lightfastness. Thank you for the info!
Thank you, Oto. I’ve said it before but I soooo appreciate those little dabs of the mixing colors ☺️ and the layout of your new system is very informative. These colors are very bright but I’m on the fence about them. Question please: how do these compare to Mission Gold, which are also very bright? Thanks again ;-) 🌺
I think they are similar in being VERY bright. These two brands I'd put in the maybe a little too bright for some people? But for those who like bright colors, they are the perfect brands.
Thank you for the video.
I’ve been eyeing ShinHan for quite some time, maybe this series will help me decide what colours to try from this brand. I liked second and third colours here.
I'm glad this series will be helpful for you to select the right colors for you :D Thank you for watching!
Great video. I haved notice that vermillion hue in the student line have two pigment in them is po16 pr48:1
Such a thorough review! Colour mixing swatches are super valuable, thank you. A little odd to see that in such an in-depth analysis you don't mention lightfastness of the pigments, since we can't always trust tube label.
I highly recommend the website sun and color sunandcolors.com/ Unfortunately I can't cover lightfastness without this series taking another six months to make as lightfastness tests take a long time.
@@OtoKano I understand this and I don't expect you to go to all that trouble. What I meant, was simply a mention of lightfastness for people that don't know to watch out for it. And just a quick note for each colour like "this pigment not known to be very lightfast, do your own research". Just a short sentence if pigment is usually considered lightfast or not. Or at least a single warning about lightfastness at the start or end of the video.
Yesterday before sleep was thinking about such tests :))
I mean if I had only different yellow-orange colors.. which mix could be perfect for landscape or sunset on water..
How could look lighting on buildings in different angle..
A lot of brands use PY81 for lemon yellow? Is that in a different medium? I have never seen it in watercolor
Kusakabe does one too (lemon yellow) but yes those are the only two brands that do PY81.
