    I appreciated seeing all the commentary on his improv skills, gave me the chance to put in my two cents.. I've taken lessons from Kyle for almost 3 years now, and at the start, I thought for sure that the mysteries behind his playing would be revealed. If anything, I'm even most astonished about how he pulls magic out of his hat every time he sits at the piano. It seems like the perfect combination of feeling plus an amazing depth of musical understanding. He can rip on the piano for 10 minutes straight, then spend the next hour and articulate every single theoretical detail of the entire piece he just composed. Week after week, lesson after lesson, video after video, I'm left with one unshakable fact, the dude is just better than we are.. Keep it up Kyle, you've definitely got the gift.

    To learn, memorize and play a piece is one thing, many pianists can do that within a short period of time. But to improvise appealing melodies and string them together with such grounded chords is true musical profiency, and that's exactly what Kyle is doing time and time again.

    • @matthewbowen2132
      @matthewbowen2132 6 років тому

      FlameableMusic when I improvise, I can tell when it is going to be good. Then I get out my camera and record lol. But I don’t record hardly any because they aren’t nearly as good as the ones I record.
      Im not sure about Kyle, but I bet it is the same with him. Otherwise he’d be putting out improv videos like here’s no tomorrow. It takes time to make a good improv

  • @JustAGiraffe

    How for in advance so you plan what notes to play next while improvising? Whenever I improvise it never sounds great because I only think about 3 seconds ahead.

    • @xrasor9592
      @xrasor9592 8 років тому +1

      i think its like improvising if you hum something you know what i mean?
      he played piano for so long, that he just knows how the button he clicks or wants to click in the future sounds, just like if you sing in the shower or so x3
      my grammar and vocabulary is horrible i know

    • @TomsMucenieks
      @TomsMucenieks 8 років тому +2

      It's actually not that hard. You got to know a few chord progressions and what sounds good against chords. And when you start understanding classical music you can take examples from those pieces and work into your improvisation.

    • @janismittelstaedt5642
      @janismittelstaedt5642 8 років тому +2

      I think "actually not that hard" is pushing it though.
      I've been slowly learning to improvise over the last two years. I've been getting better for sure. But to call it "not that hard"? Nah, takes A LOT of practice and also patience. Unless you're genius maybe.
      Sure if you improvise over a regular pop song chord progression or even over the chord progression of a more complicated piano piece. That is not too difficult (just figure out what notes sound good, play around a little and you got it). But Kyle here doesn't do that. He isn't following some "progression". He makes up his own chord progressions that matches the melody he is making up on the spot. All while using various techniques to make it sound interesting and give it feeling.
