Batch 2 is probably my very favorite Ardbeg I've had at this point. Really complex and extremely balanced for Ardbeg. I think for big Ardbeg fans though, this one might be disappointing due to the overall subtlety relative to other Ardbegs.
I got a couple bottles of Batch 2 and it is quite good, but I'm not convinced it's $300 good haha. Honestly while it may be a limited release, the Blaaack has been my favorite Ardbeg so far. You should review that one if you can find it. I was lucky to grab a bottle of their new 25 too, but don't want to try it until I can find a 2nd bottle haha.
Not heard of this yet. Wonder if it is in the States already? Sherry finish sounds good but £200 is near the top of my budget. I’ll probably wait for batch 3 but not sure I’d pay that much. Does seem to have a complicated nose.
Call it as it is H. £200 is a disgrace but hardly surprising. Ardbeg have been having a laugh for some time and there are so many groupies for them to sell it and have them suck it up.
sadly 9/10 whiskies are overpriced at this point due to incessant demand the last 10 years. But everything is overpriced, they eventually stop being overpriced because there are essentially no alternatives. Yes $300 is steep, but I've had far worse $300 whiskies... Ardbeg has long since gone the way of Macallan, HP, Dalmore, and Balvenie however in capitalizing on the seemingly limitless pocket books of the whisky community. Everything that was $150 just a few years ago is now pushing $300. Unfortunately at this point there's hardly much choice besides dropping several hundred dollars if you want to experience anything beyond a brand's 12 yr old standard bottle, especially if you live somewhere with limited to no access to independent bottlings.
It is in fact really delicious if you want a complex and very balanced Ardbeg. Unfortunately, Ardbeg figured out awhile ago that they will sell everything they bottle at basically any price. Great for them, bad for us :/
Great to have you back mate!
Nice to see you back.
An excellent review Jason thanks for sharing your thoughts. Kind regards, SF.
Favorite is Ardbeg 10 all the way, baby! Uigeadail is good, too, though. I'll have to stop by The Malt and give this one a try, though. Cheer, Jason!

Hopefully they can keep up the quality in future batches. Thanks for watching.

Haven't seen this for sale here yet... That price is a lot of money.
Good review

Seems interesting but not sure at £200.

@@welshtoro3256 Good to know I wasn’t the only one shocked by the price, diolch.👍

@@TripleBerg I tasted this blind and would've gone $150 for a bottle. Saw $300 and was disappointed, then I saw 'Ardbeg' and wasn't surprised at all.
What's the point of this drink? Ownership and bragging rights doing the rounds in the whisky universe once again.
