Helen Lindes is my favorite Miss Spain ever! Even up to this day she’s sooo gorgeous!
But Lara Dutta deserved this. One of the most predictable wins along with Paulina Vega in 2014 & Catriona Gray in 2018.
But it’s a shame Philippines Nina Ricci Alagao was excluded. She should have been 1st runner up to India. Shame on MUO. It could have been a neck-to-neck battle especially in the interview rounds. MUO gave India a very easy fight.

Lara is actually the last Miss Universe of the old millennium, not the first Miss Universe of the new millennium. Denise Quiñones, who won the next year, is the first Miss Universe of the new millennium. The new millennium started on January 1, 2001. Millenniums run from X001-x000, not x000-x999. So the first millennium was from 1-1000, the second millennium was from 1001-2000, and the third millennium (the current one) will run from 2001-3000.
I mean she was the titleholder on the day of January 1st 2001 so technically she is the first Miss Universe of the new millennium. First to be crowned IN the new millennium however, no.
Lara is even more beautiful now but on 2000 she was also pretty but i think Helen Lindes (Spain) deserved the crown more than her but good election either
