The welding mask bit brought back some memories, years ago at work a chap was welding a metal gate and not thinking Stright I watched hm for 10 mins or so, later that night I every white coloured object looked purple, then Intense stinging and watering of my eyes, into A&E asked me If I had been near a welding gun as they knew Stright away. Eyes bathed in some cleaner, two big patches on my eyes sent home to rest for 2 days, it was awful but learnt my lesson.

Rob when Chris is electric welding always wear an eye filter protection to protect your eyeballs from getting a "flash" , Light rays from the welding process can enter the corner of the eye , Trust me you dont want a flash its very painfull and lasts for several hours.[ like a migraine headache]

My first job out of college was welding pipe supports. Had sleeve rolled up and at the end first day I had a huge blister up the underneath of my forearm . So definitely stay away from the welding. And buy yourselves a coffee machine guys. ☕

I got "flash" from working too close to someone welding, I had no eye protection on, got conjunctivitis, was like having a big bit of grit in your eye, def not nice!

Nice to see Scott and his Ferrari, very interesting. Chris did well on the welding such a professional. Rob, maybe you should look at getting a custom pair of seats made for your car that mimic the original in looks at a customary glance but are actually comfortable so you can enjoy and drive your car more. Rob can I ask a stupid question? Why do you buy your coffees out? Why not buy the stuff in and get a kettle. You'll save a fortune.
Arc Welding on video cannot cause any harm at all to the eye. A standard dynamic range video signal on a waveform monitor does not peak over 1Volt and anything brighter than peak white will simply hit a clip level and look just like white. A higher dynamic range camera and monitor will show a brighter white again if recording an arc welder, but it will not damage your eye sight on any display screen you view it on. Simply put, Arc Welding emits UV light and this is dangerous to the naked eye. A video camera cannot pass UV light to your screen!!
Hi Rob and Chris, omg, spent hrs as an Apprentice stripping and rebuilding seats, hogrings have ripped my hands to shreds a few times lol. Nice to see Scott and the Ferrari in the yard, still think the Lambo has the looks out the two. Great video guy's. Alex.

When I removed the seat fabric off our car I used long nose pliers to remove the clips, twist and off. Then cable ties putting the seat back together, much quicker and easier.
Without question I love watching the channel , I think I’ve watched ever single video, just on a special note tonight I love the Nut Cracker Chris picked up , looks like it is a fare age , Think Chris is like me loves a rummage through a car boot sale , corner antique shop , looking for a bargain or two, a real cracker 😂

Those seats took me back to the 90s using a hog ring gun to build Nissan Micra seats, on a production line, still have flashbacks!
Even Chris would have struggled to get that old metal back to rights, and it would always look fixed up. However, what would be the cost in time for trying to pound it into shape. Too many hours to have any point. Ark-eyes is a condition not to be invited into anybody, you do not know until you have even a mild case. Anything more and you might need a guide dog for life. The supercar was interesting, though I doubt many would be in the business for one, however much we might covet one. I could not even get into one these days, getting out would be a whole different extraction team exercise. A great way to end the video and the week, enjoy the weekend.

Watching welding through a TV screen is fine, the infra red that causes the eye damage isn't picked up by the camera, afaik.

FYI.
Welder's flash is a dangerous side effect of welding and one that should be avoided at all costs even when just filming arc welding. Thankfully you cannot get the burn through television or through a camera lens, but it is important to arm yourself with protective equipment when actively filming.

Yes, it's the UV radiation that causes photokeratitis - it's not limited to 'arc eye' from welding either, for instance the sun reflecting off snow can also cause it too where it is called 'snow blindness'. It's not recorded on film or digital sensors and can't be transmitted by a monitor or phone screen!

The Polo is coming along nicely. Glad you got a parts car for the sill. Also good that Eddie had another wheel top man. I don't think Watching the welding on video is the same as being in the shop though I think I mentioned to Chris a while ago that it is probably best not to put the camera too close because of splatter. I think the camera filters help. Watching Chris take that seat apart I was amazed that they designed it like that. The seats always used to have the wire frame stitched into the cover a much better way of doing it in my opinion. You still use hog rings but much easier to install, ( some will have a partly zipped back to help with fixing the hog rings). Shame on VW is all I will say. Anyway it was nice you comparing notes with Scott, seems to be a nice chap. Rob I wonder if there are some alternative seats available for your car? You would obviously keep the original seat's in storage but it might be worth exploring. You should be able to enjoy the car fully not be in pain when driving.
