Fantastic blog Olly. The tool you showed is for compressing the piston rings when refitting the pistons & rings back into the bores! - 1690 engine rebuild - Excellent sun rise, congratulations on the summer barley harvest results, definitely worth doing!! 👏👏👏👍🚜 Your taking British farming to the next level Olly.✊✊✊✊✊✊
Just caught up with yesterday's video . Disgusting how the holiday home was treated . Another cracking video and today I've been 45% . I will get there . Changing my meds and upping the doseage !!
Really pleased to see that your Barley on Barley was a success. Well done fella. Its so nice that you take the risk to rise above the critics - and see it pay off.
welll done olly profit is better than none all my way is done ,some sold for clamping to early ,,, Piston ring compressor not changed one in few years im 75% due to not bein well enough to work this years harvest
Hi Olly. I have 2 questions for you if I may ask you. 1. What crop management decisions have you made as a result of the summer barley? Is it viable to include something similar in future cropping programmes? 2. Surely, your header is a write-off. Will your Insurance company not pay for a replacement? Or maybe a complete rebuild? (using the parts that are not damaged and replacing with new, the parts that are ). When I farmed, I was insured with the NFU. They weren't the cheapest, but they were the fairest and most sensible. 90% today. Thanks.
Hi olly be careful when you refit the big end bolts on the 1690 engine the bolt head must be sitting correctly because you can torque them down when they are not seating correctly and after a while when the engine is working they can undo themselves and the nuts drop off and the conrod can go through the side of the engine we also lock tighted our ones on our 1594 check with Barclay William's he will confirm hope this helps
Great video olly , glad to see you combining and making a profit. Shows it wasn't impossible, sunflowers next. Earlier planting date must of helped. 90%.
Well done with the summer barley Olly, certainly stacks up profit wise. Perhaps some of the farms in East Anglia should follow your example. Would have been easy here in West Suffolk, very little rain this year, dust still coming off the drills even now. Header looks tiny, but when I started work for local MF dealer in 1973, 12 foot headers were the norm. When the MF 760 came along with 18 footers, they looked enormous. Tool is a piston ring compressor clamp.
12 ft header still the norm around my part scotland and not that unusual in a normal year to be harvesting the only crop of barley at this time of year ,i have cut a good crop of oats 2nd week of november in past
The extra crop was definitely worth doing especially for all the doubters you can even get the third crop in ready for next year with only a couple weeks behind the other crops plus you can do the same next year just on more fields weather permitting % just the same also it handy claas headers are inter changeable 👍👍 that’s the easiest one a ring compression tool 👍
90% today finished cutting the maize in and covered forecast ain't to hectic for the next few days won't get any drilling done n you needn't worry our head is only 16' slow n steady wins the race does us fine
Great video loved the small header it reminded me of my combining days only difference i didn’t have a cab …the device is for compressing piston rings for fitting pistons … thanks mate 95%
That’s a great success story right there Olly. I suspect many acres of summer Barley will be going in in the middle of next year. Great work. By the way, you won’t bend the header as easily if it’s only 20 foot. 😂 sorry. 90% today.
Good video as usual. Feeling 75% after talking with friends over a few cups of tea. Header looks tiny but did the job and saved the day 👍. Piston ring compressor for putting new pistons & rings into the engine block.
Was thinking about your 2 crop plan You should talk to the plant breeders ? See if you can find an early maturing Barley plant !? Even a few weeks would Give you the window for 2 crops ...

18' was a decent header back in the day! A Claas dominator 96 with a 15' header could get the job done!
