    AM6 Engine Assembly Guide - Part 5 - Crankcase preparation & assembly
Understanding and overcoming basic problems resulting from crankcase casting.
Warped castings, resulting from incorrect ageing, require careful assembly.
Preparing and rectifying the casting faces, in preparation for jointing.
    Checking for gasket interference.
The engine being re-built is a Minarelli AM6 two-stroke, as fitted in:
    Aprilia MX50, RX50, RS50
    Yamaha DT50
    Malaguti Drakon
    Rieju
    Peugeot XR6
The information will be helpful to all engine builders.

Your video popped up today and I enjoyed watching it again. I've watched all your AM6 videos dozens of times and I don't even know really what they are. I did have a junker Lambretta when I was in the 8th grade. (1968) I think it was a 125. Point I want to make is I really like your videos! I watch many UA-cam videos a day and have since before you stopped making them (I hope it's just temporarily) and you are one of my favorites. I really like your voice, personality, and mechanical abilities. I think I found you from a comment you made on a flat earth video, like 3 years ago. Anyway I can listen to you all day and I hope the best for you and yours

      Hi Camaro!
Thanks for that kind feedback :)
I stopped making videos shortly after releasing my carb tuning software ... it produced a conflict of interests, and I got crushed.
Consequently, there was no point in making new vids, just to watch them go nowhere.
I won through all the obstacles, and by then the heat was off, so the channel vids began ticking over a bit faster. However, other projects had now taken center stage.
I have added a mini-mill to the workshop (after some re-engineering to bring it to a superior spec.)
The mini-lathe is next to be done.
I have bought a better camera, and got it setup.
My plan is to get back to making videos this year.
At some point, I would like to complete the carb tuning video series.
      Other than that, I'm cool.
Best wishes to you and yours :)

Could you give any tips to make my bike easyer to get into neutral.

    • @EngineTuning
      @EngineTuning  7 років тому

      Adjust your clutch.
      It will be dragging slightly.
Once the clutch is fully disengaged... you'll find neutral easily ;)

Ok but should I adjust the clutch from the cable or take the clutch cover off and then adjust?
And also I would like to thank you for awesome videos like wiring diagram video, and also am6 gearbox installing video, thoose videos really helped me to make my project successfull.

      That's great news Gvidas.
I'm glad that others are learning.
      Re the clutch.
Make sure the cable runs smoothly.
Just above the gearbox, under the carb, you will see the main clutch cable adjuster.
Screw the handlebar adjuster fully in... then take up the cable play with the main adjuster.
The clutch lever need only a small amount of play... sufficient to let the clutch fully home.
      This should do it!
You can then quickly use the adjuster on the handlebar lever, when the cable stretches a bit more.
The handlebar lever adjustment is just temporary, until you can adjust the main adjuster.
      :)

They do have a gasket between the two halves if your gasket set doesn't have one it's probably a cheap copy set. I don't use instant gasket myself always use the proper thing.

What on earth brought you to say this?
Have you ever owned an AM6?
I've checked your channel ... it's mostly guitar lessons, a couple of Suzuki's, and a car.
I'm interested to know, what drove you to make this comment.
      Perhaps you might enlighten us?

@@EngineTuning no need to get defensive you made a statement which is false if you check the athena gasket set it has a centre gasket or cartouche gasket I think it's called. & yes I've owned several minarelli am6s although I'm not sure what difference it makes. I also used to work for a piaggio/gilera/aprilia dealer servicing & repairing scooters & small motorcycles.

@@BenTV73 What are you talking about?
Here is the link that you posted (that you deleted):
      www.maxiscoot.com/en/product/gasket-set-complete-engine-minarelli-am6-33790?vctype_id=16
Er ... where is the gasket that mates the gearbox and crankcase?
Let me assure you ... that if you knew what you were talking about, then you would not have even bothered to link to a gasket set that clearly did not include a crankcase gasket.
We have to question human psychology here?
      ... don't forget ... I did ask you:

@@EngineTuning not getting into an argument my original post wasn't intended as an insult it was supposed to help. I don't have to justify or prove myself I know different. There are plenty of videos on youtube showing people using the gasket not to mention I remember fitting them as you have to trim it once the cases are together so it doesn't foul the con rod. I deleted the link because I 'm not getting into an argument on youtube but it was the big white one in that link.

@@BenTV73 Are you making this up?
The gasket that you are indicating, relates to the clutch case, NOT the crankcase.
Anyone who has dismantled an AM6, should know this.
You also talk about the gasket needing trimming because it fouls the con rod - hahaha!
The thing is ... what you don't realise is that your comments appear ridiculous.
What drives you to make these comments?
