I think it’s so important to listen to your gut…you do a lot of things on your own and something was telling you not to go. Good job for paying attention to your inner voice. I do a lot of solo stuff as well and sometimes it’s hard to tell the difference between my head and gut. My head is always saying “everything is scary stay home!” Thank you for sharing your adventures! I went into the BWCAW with my 19 year old son this year just the 2 of us. It was amazing. Watching your videos and seeing you doing it alone made me realize I can do it 2! So thanks again!
You did the right thing about cutting your hike short. It was nice to hear your concerns about solo camping and solo hiking. You do a nice job of selecting camp sites that are more secluded to limit your interaction with others. Although, this was the first time that you talked about your wildlife fears when you solo camp. I watch your videos because of the beautiful Minnesota wilderness, but it's also nice to understand what your thoughts and concerns are when you film these videos. Thanks again for doing these.
I loved everything about this video! I spend a ton of time on the North Shore hiking and camping... and frequenting all of the places that you showed, from Two Harbors on up to Grand Marais and the Gunflint. Beautiful footage. It almost makes me speechless to watch this due to the familiarity and the fact that I could have made this entire video. Crazy! Thank you! I also can relate to the nervousness. I solo hike and camp a lot on the shore & inland. I have a hard time pinpointing if I'm actually nervous or anxious and why I am. Sometimes I think I'll get lost. Yet, If I follow a well beaten path, I should be fine. I've stopped and turned around plenty of times too. I have done the Eagle Mountain hike. It's beautiful and rewarding. I'd suggest going with a friend or partner... share the joy on this one! Bring some chocolate for when you get to the top! I'm heading out tomorrow morning for the weekend... camping at Temperance and doing some hiking, Grand Marais time and catching a moose on the Gunflint! Wow! You have a great channel! 😄
7:39 Kudos for having excellent taste in ice cream. Try and visit the factory someday if you ever get the chance. The drive through Tillamook and out to the Oregon coast is priceless. On a typically cloudy day it feels like being in a dream. I like your "new vlog-style thing."
Love your video. Thank u for sharing your adventure. I just got home from 2 weeks long tent camping and hiking in Olympic National Park, Crater Lake OR, and redwood national park. It was fun.
The full moon was actually really cool. I didn't sleep much but it was light enough to walk around without a light the entire night. If I wouldn't have been alone it would have been cool to venture down to the water and sit on the beach that night.
Those late, late summer and early to mid fall trips are awesome. Kids are back in school. Most people (the general masses) are in prep for winter mode and aren't even thinking about camping anymore. So you get out there and no one is around. It's awesome. I used to hate fall. Mostly because, to me it's just kind of a harbinger that winter is coming quickly and I am NOT a winter person. Even as a native Minnesotan, I can't stand winter. Just not a cold & snow kinda dude. But, I've really come to appreciate fall due to what I mentioned. And a lot of nostalgia from my days as a kid in the Boy Scouts. Very active troop that did a ton of camping all through fall. Even sometimes in the winter. That all comes to a crashing halt when we get that first snow though. 😄
❤Loved this Jodi, I Love that your honest❤ so others see they can incourage them selfs or know when to change the plain❤ im So proud of you and the Adventures you take us on❤ Love every min of it ,Stay Strong I Belive in You❤
Not trying to be weird at all, but Jodi you are beautiful and I love your spirit you bring and your passion for camping. I've been to the BWCA a handful of times and its a unique experience for anyone who hasn't been up there. You display it perfectly. You are so fearless and embrace the challenge it takes to be there. Massive respect to you and I love your videos!
Do you remember when the Onion River was just a pullover and a rock scramble initial climb to the trail? You may want to do the 270-degree overlook. Only a mile to it, and it's well traveled. I recently did the trail between there and Otter Lake using my bicycle to shuttle myself.
Yes I’ve had to deal with both bear and moose alone. Both made my heart beat fast and both were intimidating in the moment. But they usually just run away. How was your experience?
@@jodimiddendorf this one turned out by the bear taking off.But a few years ago i was north of thunderbay and that one knocked me over as it was running away. lucky he was more scared than me
Did anyone hear the story about an unprepared, solo hiker who didn't fully plan, and then something bad happened? Thanks to Jodi, neither did any of us!!!!!

I agree, fall is the best camping and hiking time of the year. It's beautiful, less buggy, fewer people, and cooler temps.

Where was that spot you camped at by Lake Superior. I'm trying to figure it out but coming up empty. Was that in a state park?
I was wondering the same thing. Looks epic!
so fun? Could you share what campsite that is at the start of the video?

I will check that one out. I don't think I've been to the 270 overlook. Thanks for the tip!
Do you bring your professional camera with to take pictures, when your on trips like this?
Sometimes I do, but not often.
Hi Jodi eric
Hello!
have you ever had to deal with a bear or moose when alone i was just there two weeks ago and had to deal with a bear just north of two harbors
