MA-YOR-CA. Got it! Slip of the tongue on my part everyone. 😉👍🏻
Trenton & Heath there is Mallorca and also Majorca. Two separate Islands. Majorca is pronounced Mayorca.
Just sayin 😁
Yeah, "j" is kinda new to the party. Still, great work. Hint for foreign languages: say it like their 007. Winning.
@@bobbibuttons8730 Actually that's incorrect, both spellings refer to the same island. You're probably thinking of _Menorca_ (or alternatively, Minorca).
I don’t see the welt on these. What type is it?
Jack Black they’re Goodyear welted as I think every Carmina shoe is.
Hello fellow fans of shoes and the Brothers Potter! Just wanted to say I'm glad so many of you enjoyed watching my Carminas undergo surgery. :) I found it funny that, unlike many of you evidently, I wasn't cringing at all. I think Heath is amazing - a truly exceptional craftsman - so I had 100 percent confidence that my shoes were in the best of hands. I wasn't at all worried. I'm also happy to tell you that when Heath and Trenton returned my shoes, they had been put back together impeccably. I honestly couldn't tell that they had even been touched. So, wonderful job, guys! This is a great example of why you've hit 30K subscribers! Congrats, and thanks for the great videos. Take care.
Thank you, Anthony!
My cancer surgeries were less painful. LOLOL
Steven Daniel Lol.
What an amazing way to review!!!
Thank you Anthony 😊
For some of us accustomed to watching the handiwork of Trenton and Heath, there's no doubt those shoes were in good hands 👐
Thank you a million times to the person who put these beautiful shoes through dissection for our benefit. I was thinking about making a purchase and now I have the complete picture, BEFORE I take the leap. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Warren Timothy So glad you found it to be helpful in your future purchase. I think you’ll enjoy them!
Those things were a good looking inside as outside. Great job respecting the craftsmanship and thanks to Anthony for offering.
Thanks! Yeah, they’re great shoes...and Anthony is an awesome guy!
My pleasure. I had a blast doing it.
@@anthonygardner400 on Whole cuts too. Beautiful shoes.
The hero we don't deserve
This is amazing. Can you do something at the end of year where you recommend your top brands you’ve Reviewed for specific prices.
If you want that go watch Kirby or one of the numerous review channels. Trenton&Heath are cobblers, they focus on construction.
ShowMe yeah, but they can still make their recommendations from their perspective, which is unique among the youtubers. Most youtubers judge construction without actually understanding construction.
Great idea! 👍🏻
@@ShowMeInHD they can Still give recomendations from a cobbler's opinion.
This is the most gentle I’ve seen anyone taking apart a pair of shoes. You can see the respect for these brand new Carminas.
We told the gentleman, who sent these in, that we wanted to get them back to him in original condition, so that’s exactly what we set out to do. 😉 A little nerve racking, but we did it.
Trenton & Heath you guys are fantastic and amazing! Can’t wait till my shoes need some repairs!
@@TrentonHeath Also, thanks for shipping my recent order so quickly!
Great video! Carmina is an excellent shoemaker, I love their shoes.
Vladimir Riché Thank you! Yeah, they’re great shoes. I love quality!
Great job on videos, by the way! Always nice and informative.
Trenton & Heath Thanks, bro! Greatly appreciated
Next , take Anthony apart, to see what’s wrong with him....
I swear I heard the shoe screamed BLUE MURDER! when the first stab went in...
For my 36th birthday, I finally recieved my first pair of nice dress shoes last week. They were Carminas and I'm so happy.
Congrats! They’re great shoes!
Carmina just enjoyed the best publicity they could ever get.
A fine gentleman it is that sacrificed himself for the many.
Thanks, Mikal! We appreciate you watching.
Yeah, definitely a nice guy to allow us the opportunity to do that.
He probably wouldn’t do it if he couldn’t afford to, but it was still generous of him to share , anyway.
@@MoPoppins True. Yet, neither Gates nor Bezos would give 400 bucks to some random guy on the street. This gentleman, however, did. That is, as you said, quite generous of him.
Mikal - I don’t think I ever implied that EVERY wealthy individual is generous by default, but that this particular man was able to make this donation because he didn’t have to save his pennies for months or years doing backbreaking work to acquire the shoes. I obviously don’t know anything about him, but I’m assuming that he doesn’t worry about whether he can make rent or utility payments this month, or afford to buy groceries or fill up his gas tank. Maybe there was a time when he did, but not anymore,
And if he were an enterprising type, he could even have ties to this shoe brand (as an investor) that now has the official endorsement of this reputable UA-cam channel, having documented their craftsmanship for all to see and share with others who can also afford to drop hundreds on a pair of shoes. They’re an investment to impress their colleagues and clients, which will end up making them money, so it’s a win-win-win for all involved.
@@MoPoppins Yes, you are right.
This is what the UA-cam cobbler/shoe repair community needs to present to viewers & prospective buyers. Otherwise, we wouldn't know the true quality of the product until it was too late. Love this!
Trenton and Heath @ If you’re ever in MA-YOR-CA you should try out their PA-E-YA lol
Love your videos. Best wishes from Australia.
It's spelled "Mallorca" but the double L is pronounced like a Y :)
Good point! 😉
So It's pronunced as Ma-YOr-Ca.
that's not proper spanish.
Thanks gents, great job..👍
Anyone else cringe when that sharp tool slipped toward the guy’s hand??? Yikes!
Yeah, I thought it was gonna slip and scratch that beautiful leather. :-)
Deconstructed a well constructed shoe now I would like to see the reconstruction of the same CARMINA which is a beauty from upper to bottom. Fantastic workmanship. I love it.
Great work. I know it hurts, but forensic analysis makes better shoes. That helps everyone.
Lmao! Those are the same pair I've been looking at!
Good deal! Hope this helped.
You deserve many more views. I will be a loyal fan
Great video guys. The precision shown when pulling these apart showed how much it did “hurt” to pull them apart but great to know you think they are that well made. I am considering saving up for that “next level” up and Carmina is at the top of the list. Thanks guys.
Jim Guardino Thanks! We appreciate you watching. You definitely can’t go wrong with Carmina’s. Very well made!
I like your channel, you do a good job, and you deserve the mony you earn through your channel. But in this particular case, The Question is: how much "Anthony CARMINA" pay for the great advertising you make?
Please review church’s English shoes and compare them with Carmina
How do they compare to Crockett and Jones? Really enjoy your work. Thanks for doing it.
My five year old granddaughter winced when you started to take these apart. Her comment is, be careful with that knife.
Phil Schiavone Haha...sounds like a smart little girl!
Can you do a video about top 10 best value shoes based on quality-price ratio?
Thank you!
I’m always afraid you are going to gash your hand open😳
I wish he would wear a cut resistant glive on his left hand when he's taking apart those shoes.
so are the little nails just for appearance? I've always wondered about that.
If they have been making shoes since the 1800's they must be old. lol
What do you guys think of Idrese shoes? Have you ever done a review of that brand?
Mallorca is pronounced my-orca. Just a nitpick. Love your videos.
As usual, a very informative video from Trenton and Heath. I have two pairs of Carmina shoes and can attest to their quality and comfort. They do indeed just get better with age and use and are well worth the investment. Their fit is spot on too, if you know your size you can order them with the certainty that they'll fit exactly as they should.
A big thank you to Anthony for his generosity and I also cringed when you started to take them apart and I am very impressed with the quality of their shoes , they are on my wish list !
THANKS FOR POSTING ... this type of video is much better than watching political videos
Glad you enjoyed! We appreciate you watching.
It's so nice to hear your honest opinions on the different brands of shoes you work on. Great job guys!
Thank you, Tammy! We really appreciate it.
Omg i swear i shared a tear or two. Im so upset right now i need a therapist
Great video! Good to see the Spanish shoemakers stepping it up and bringing great quality and workmanship to the rest of the world. Have you had the opportunity to resole a Yanko? If you have, how do they compare to Carmina?
I had 4 pairs in the past. The only thing I have against is that the leather ages poorly, but to think what I’m paying for.... The Carmina suede leathers are good though :)
Do you guys reminding that scene from toy story 2, the fixing woody scene? I love craftmanship. 👞 You could bring out a 3 hour video, without comentary and i would watch the whole restoration video. It has something meditative about it. 😌 Thanks for takeing us on your journey.
Grettings from 🇩🇪 👋🏻
The craftsmanship of dissecting shoes. and repairing them. You two are truly amazing. I love your channel. Really cool to see what goes into the making of a shoes. Especially high end/quality shoes.
We really appreciate that! It’s enjoyable bringing as many of these high quality shoes to you as we can. Thank you very much for watching.
😱😱🔥🔥🕺🕺💯
Definitely a beautiful shoe, even for the price.
It was clear how respectful you were during the teardown. I would have liked to see you rebuild them with your expert skill.
It’s definitely a shoe we recommend. We wanted to put that one shoe back together exactly as it came, so it was all about being extremely careful. Mission accomplished! 😉
Quite the measure of your abilities AND your faith in your abilities to strip these and rebuild them on camera. Because if they don't look as good as they did at the start!
Way to stay relevant in today's world, I think this deal of ripping the shoes apart, really helps us make the best decision for our application. Maybe my only "constructive criticism" is that you could do a little more in depth explanation of what each part is for and why it's good beyond "these have tons of adhesion". More like these features are normally in everyday wear shoes, expensive vs cheap, etc. Also very excited about work boot reviews. Thank you for a great video, and I'm happy to be a new sub!
Is it me or does this guy sound a lot like Peyton Manning?
Nationwide is on your side. Omaha! Omaha!
Bruhh, now I'm closing my eyes and he sounds just like Manning lol.
Coming from Denver, I suppose this comment!
He kissed Papa John as well 😂😂 #papabless
very dangerous for your hand......
These guys are gentlemen's gentlemen!
Carmina vs Allen Edmonds?
Carmina has been my go to for a few years now. Absolutely beautiful shoes and the only dress shoes I have found at that level that are as comfortable as they are attractive. Amazing to see they are worth the price.
Happy ThanksGiving guys to you and your families.
Thanks to Anthony, way to take one for the team. I wish you had gone into a little more detail about the build quality though. You spent way more time on a pair of under $200 shoes than with these. But, great review and thank you!
Thanks so much for the review. Carmina makes a beautiful shoe, especially the shell cordovan.
Mallorca is pronounced Ma-Yorka
Beautiful shoes and yet again another brilliant video from T&H.
this is 'jerry rig everything' version for shoes :). nice
Love this review series. Keep them coming! I’m a big carmina fan, and knowing that they invest in quality in all the places you don’t see just reaffirms my feelings.
Thanks, Benjamin! Glad you enjoyed. Yeah, Carmina’s are great shoes! Glad we had the opportunity to take some apart and confirm.
I feel like this type of content is exactly what a lot of us have been asking for. An in depth review of shoe brands by taking them apart which shows us the materials used, the way its put together and how well thats done.
It would be nice however if you guys narrated a bit more. I know some of the stuff is obvious but t would be nice to hear a " so all Carmina shoes or selected ones or whatever all come w the wooden feet thingys, they r wrapped in tissue paper and have a little pamphlet which tells you how to take care of the shoes" a little bit more research on the brand would be nice AT THE BEGINNING OF THE VIDEO lol.
Otherwise great video and i strangely found the video not as cringe as i thought it would be lol. and more definitions pls no offence but not everyone knows what a welt is. Sometimes i forget and I'm like the WeLt??? oh ye that?
This is like when Abraham was about to sacrifice Isaac except no messenger of God came down and stopped you from committing this utter atrocity.
500 hundreds pair of shoes obviously it should be a better job
CARMINA IS OFFERING THIS
TRENTON and HEATH BEST VALUE , GREAT GUYS
Hi guys, very nice and interesting video as usual. May I ask you if you could reuse the same outsole once you had to restitch it? Thank you!
Giacomo Serra Thank you! Glad you enjoyed. We stitched the original sole back on by hand, so we were able to reuse it, as well as the original holes.
@@TrentonHeath well done. The customer was very kind to offer a new pair for a review. I don't know if I would have dared...hahaha ;) keep on the good work!
Hi guys-
Love the videos - they are insightful and educational. Could I get you two to do a review on Paul Parkman shoes? There is almost no content on the web about this Company. I took a leap of faith and purchased a $450 pair of Paul Parkman Men's Captoe Oxfords Anthracite Brown Hand-Painted Leather (ID#024-ANTBRW)
Looking forward to more videos. Keep up the great job.
Rex
Thanks guys. Carmina are flawless. Any thoughts about Velasca?
I’d never heard of Carmina until this video. I just ordered two pairs. Thanks fellas!
I had to put on safety gloves just to make it through the video!
How many times have you guys been to the emergency room, or at least had wicked cuts? Between that and all the machinery, I suspect you’ve some pretty gory stories.
🔪👞🔪
ReconMan8654 Haha...surprisingly, only a few minor cuts on the hands over the years. It comes with the territory, but you figure out what to do and what NOT to do with the knife blade. :)
Thanks for this video. Great educational look at the insides.
Also, can you say “Chicken parm you taste so good” like the nationwide commercial?
Meow Meow Haha...we appreciate it!
What are the differences of quality in different price ranges? Kirby Allison posted a video on this couple of years ago but I feel like he's too focused promoting Carmina, Edward Green and John Lobbs. Thanks in advance! For eg. Comparing $500 Carmina to $1200 Edward Green
So much for cutting AWAY from yourself :) BE careful!
I've owned Carmina shoes for many years. Thank you for doing this.
I am brand new to tuning in and already a huge fan! I have learned so much and now have a much deeper appreciation for not only both of your skills but shoes in general. As a Chiropractic Physician I have always expressed the importance of quality shoes. I now know what a quality shoe is! Thanks for all you do to make such cool and educational videos.
In E.U. a pair of Carmina bought online cost about 400-450 euro, regular leather, not exotic one. It;s my favorite shoe maker, together with TLB Mallorca (same price rang and quality)
Feels like somebody's scraping my skin when you took them apart. Now off to look some Black Friday deal in Carmina's site. 😁
If you think that Carmina RTW are good, then you should really review a Vass RTW offering. Similar price range but even better construction.
I’m watching all the videos in order and this one was really good. Love the Carminas, thanks guys and thanks Anthony!
What are your thoughts on Cobbler Union vs Carmina? I know both are high quality, and perhaps it's splitting hairs, but do you think Cobbler Union shoes are of equal quality? Or are you getting some better quality for the ~$100 more you pay for Carminas?
What are your thoughts on Max Verr
I emailed CARMINA and asked about their shoe size. Here is their reply. I also have the email thread to prove this.
"We do usually recommend to use te same size you do in other dressy brands. If you prefer we are able to provide you with insole measurements. And regarding the leather, the type of leather doesn't vary the size."
Comment below on their reply and how they handled customer service.
Thanks, very informative. But just wonder is this shoes brand comfort? Is Carmina need a break in time? I know they re all goodyear welt, But I know a couple of people say the real quality leather shoe should need no break in time/should feel comfort for the first time wearing. Comfort for me is first important.
Carmina are great shoes and super value. I have a pair of black Oxford's and brown brogue Derby's which get commented on by people as looking smart.
I own several pairs of Carmina shoes, both in leather and in cordovan. I have shoes that are more expensive than Carmina, but none that are made with a higher standard of craftsmanship, quality, and attention to detail. They offer a choice of lasts to fit your foot, are comfortable to wear, and are very durable. Carmina shoes also polish and shine to a mirror shine easily. (Carmina offers shoes with the J. R. Leather sole, which is arguably the finest leather sole available. It will far outlast all other quality leather soles. You can request J. R. Leather soles from Trenton & Heath for your finer shoes, as I have, and you will not regret the investment.) PS - I have no connection to Carmina nor to Trenton & Heath. I simply seek out the best craftsmanship, quality, and integrity, and you can not find better than Carmina and Trenton & Heath. They both are committed to the highest quality of excellence in their craft.
Y’all do such careful and beautiful work. I’m surprised by the attention to detail that the manufacturer put into these shoes.
I would love to see some more videos on ladies shoes, and get advice on what brands are quality, or what brands should be avoided.
Carmina makes some of greatest shoes in Spain in fact they much better quality and construction than Meermin overall IMO.
Please can you recommend any other brands of Goodyear welted shoes for women? I have a few pairs of Carmina picked out, but it would be great to see other companies too. Women just don’t get much choice in well-made shoes. There are a few with a handful of different styles, but none that I’ve found that are as elegant as Carmina. I figured if anyone knows, you guys will!
Thank you.
You're right, that was hard to watch. I did cringe. Especially as they were wholecuts, the type of shoe I admire the most. But as I've seen plenty of videos of you guys taking some really ugly, crapped-out shoes apart and making them better than new, I knew they were in the best of hands.
I'd like to see what you think of the Maglieriapelle brand out of Instanbul, Turkey. They have a vid on the Tube if anyone wants to check them out. Thanks for any consideration you may give to my suggestion.
They make great shoes. A bit more expensive that say TLB Mallorca or Carlos Santos who make similar quality for less money. Carmina has many more options of RTW on their site and in many different lasts. They reccomend their RAIN last for first timers but i didnt like the fit so i returned them wo a challenge. I then tried a pair of whole cut on their INCA last and the fit was great. Carmina also has two physical stores in NYC if you are there and want to try them on. Their Custom made program is infinite in its options and the web site visualization tool is best in class. They do run sales and while they are worth full price, if you can be patient, why not wait for a sale.
I have 5 pairs of Carminas, from Galway boots to quarter brogue derbies, man I love them all. They may not be perfect, but they are close enough.
I own two pairs of shoes from Carmina. The only critiques I have is their leather water stains easily, and the laces are poor quality. I went through two sets of laces in less than 24 hours. An $8 pair of laces off Amazon lasted longer.
Having my gallbladder removed was less painful than watching this dissection.😲
Have you guys reviewed the Carlos Santos? What are your thoughts? Trying to decide between the Carmines and the Carlos Santos.
WELT : Also, a very high stitch count on the welt as pointed out on another review channel. They do have good discounts on their range in their sales, so I recommend to subscribe to their webshop. I think they give you a discount outside of sale time for a first purchase.
I have a question im from México and I wanna get the suede loafers in my mexican soze which is 8 that in UK would be 9 would they fit or I have to get them up or down?
So many of the good mens dress shoes have the cork bed. The Tuesday shoe you took apart had a very thin not even complete bed of cork. Just enough for them to be able to claim to have a cork bed like the big boys. Your foot is supposed press down in to the cork and form too your foot. But, how thick is the cork on the Carmina? 8th of an inch? Less than that. Not much room for your foot to sink down. Surprised quality dress shoes have not modernized and adapted from athletic shoes.
Got Carmina Oxford Brogues in 2003 and they are still going!!!👌✨
Great video! Thank you for this!
Only thing I’d note is that the music was a little loud while you were talking so it made it a bit hard to hear you
Patrick Chan Thank you! We appreciate you watching.
Yeah, unfortunately, we noticed some background talking from other people in our shop during editing. It was a bit distracting, so we turned the music up in those spots.
Trenton & Heath ah ha! Makes sense
Ooooo...it's like Jerryrigeverything, but a shoe version.
Nice!
THANK 👉 "U"
GREAT VIDEO
AND VERY INFORMATIVE
CAN'T GO WRONG WITH WITH THE BROTHER'S 👍👌👏
Do they(Carmina) deliver shoes here in India. If yes, what would be the price range (rupees)?
They took 6 months to deliver and only after I complained, one week later they send me shoes that were too tight and painful to wear, no accountability at all.
You always impress with carmina, why to rip apart this good shoes then?...those are carmina,hellooooo...!
