5:34 I was born in '84 and lived most of my life in Lisbon, capital of Portugal. Yet, this moment in this music, I can totally feel the intimacy that this kind of music generated in the generations before, listening to my grandparents accounts of what the world was by their time, in their own small country villages when growing up, whether they realized I was listening or not. Yet moments like these are what keep the common imaginary alive, generation after generation. And then, to realize I'm feeling all this over a music composition by a French composer, being played by an English artist, and myself, a Portuguese person... It all just coalesces so much meaning in globalization and the imperative importance of all the people of all the world realizing the importance of their experiences and coming together as a whole... Exquisite performance, Alexandra, and all people involved in producing this. Thank you!
Nicely stated. Add to that, an American artist who seriously appreciates such fine talent. Obrigado, Alexandra. The work of Ralph Towner comes to mind.
every time youtube recommends one of your videos, i would just stare at it for a minute and decide whether i want to hear beautiful guitar playing while losing all my self-esteem or continue my life happily. I always end up clicking on it. you are a genius, girl.
How can she have such a casual seeming mastery of this difficult instrument at such a young age? Keep going girl, such a pleasure to hear, to watch. World class.
Muito bom!! Esse estilo vem do meu país, Brasil! Na região nordeste, chamamos de Baião!! A Alexandra conseguiu captar o espírito livre, a interpretação certa!! E essa peça não é fácil de tocar ( muito cromatismo) e muita troca de andamentos!
This reminded me of the music of Egberto Gismonti, a Brazilian composer, guitarist and pianist who was admired by Roland Denys. In fact, Dyens’ work was heavily influenced by his passion for South American music, particularly that of Heitor Villa-Lobos.
OK. I've officially lost track of the number of times I've watched this performance, but it must be close to 50 by now. Very nuanced and simply fantastic -- even after 50. Dyens is smiling.
Good day Maam Alexandra. I really like your professionalism. The way you execute each notes. I can not play guitar and I like the finess of the notes. Thank you Maam for sharing your talents to the world❤
Wow this is the first time I listen to this piece and the first time I listen to you playing. I really like Roland Dyens as a composer and your performance is outstanding!! That was beautiful !
🤗 Music with lots of surprises! Wonderful performance combining so many tonal elements, lovely setting and beautiful photography accentuate the uniqueness of this piece. Keep inspiring us mortal guitarists😇
An astonishing performance. I kept picking my jaw up off the floor. Quite simply one of the most promising rising stars. A supernova among peers. The only other performance that is the same league to this for stylistic integrity I’ve heard is Michael Chapdelaine. Bravo, and in someone so young all the more astonishing. This has got to be one of my favorite Saudades. There is so much here. So very diverse and versatile. You are a genius of the first order.
Way to go Alexandra! Stunning virtuosity, more importantly you are giving life to complex music that few could master or appreciate. I look forward to your future selections.
Alexandra conveys such a beautiful tone with every performance but often looks sad, I want to take her a coffee and say " Dont worry it will all be fine " her music after all is a joy to listen to
Me encantó cómo toca la guitarra, ella lo hace como si fuera parte de ella. Felicidades por tu talento. Sorry I wrote in Spanish, I’m still learning english.
...ART is the best way to enjoy life....just keep going and do not loose yourself in the world of vanities , if so, real Art will fade away....Art is a way of life, from your inside universe....!
Lovely. It has almost a First Nations' (North American Aboriginal) quality like a rushing wild river charging through northern forests, echoes of water hitting rocks and falls. Amazing sound.
It's played with playback. She can play this piece obviously but here she plays it with playback and you can see this on begining on the chord after the second fast run 0:35 where on the video she plays it with tamburo (by slapping the strings with thumb) but on the audio that chord is played normally and if you search there's a video on UA-cam with sheet music and the audio is from that video it's identical if you try to hear it but playing with playback is very hard to time it so good with the audio and we can clearly see that she plays it so it's a very good video
Suponho que você não fale português. Mas sou seu fã. Obrigado por me apresentar essa beleza do Roland Dyens, que eu amo. Aliás, parece uma música da minha terra, o Brasil 🙂
This piece reminds me of something strange enough that the late John Fahe might play except that he approaches from a blues prospective where Alexandria classical. I’ve become a big fan and I love this piece.

Obrigado! "Saudade" é senão a mais bela palavra da língua portuguesa.
How can she have such a casual seeming mastery of this difficult instrument at such a young age? Keep going girl, such a pleasure to hear, to watch. World class.
That walk in was an excellent beginning for this masterpiece of musicianship.
Muito bom!! Esse estilo vem do meu país, Brasil! Na região nordeste, chamamos de Baião!! A Alexandra conseguiu captar o espírito livre, a interpretação certa!!

One of my all time favorites! The skill, excitement, passion and flavor you pour into this piece is beautiful and absolutely captivating.
Very complex music, and such mastery in a young artist.
My goodness that is amazing combination of technical skills and musical artistry. What an inspiration!!!
never get tired of this video. She takes my breath away. Rhythm, tone performance, Alex has them all.
This reminded me of the music of Egberto Gismonti, a Brazilian composer, guitarist and pianist who was admired by Roland Denys.
In fact, Dyens’ work was heavily influenced by his passion for South American music, particularly that of Heitor Villa-Lobos.
This is incredible. I love how all these amazing guitarists are on youtube for everyone to enjoy. Keep up the great work!
Beautiful balance between loud and soft, great controle, hope to hear more!
OK. I've officially lost track of the number of times I've watched this performance, but it must be close to 50 by now. Very nuanced and simply fantastic -- even after 50. Dyens is smiling.
Eclectic to the Max. I love the performance and how nuanced your playing is
This superb piece is a real mind bender to try to follow, so Alexandra deserves a hearty round of applause for mastering it!
Enjoying how the mystery of this piece is revealed slowly, then plays in and out ... . Well done!
The attention to detail in this song is amazing. Well done!
This piece is one of my absolute favourites. Some parts of it remain me on the style of Al Di Meola. Absolutely hard work!
Your performance and brilliant technique would probably leave the composer speechless, Alexandra. It left me almost wordless. 💕💕💕
Christopher Dean must feel proudly because of your incredible performance !! 👏👏
impressive hand/finger coordination! wonderful talent
it sounds like baião, a music style from the northeast of Brazil! I love it!
pensei aqui em Luiz Gonzaga...
concordo
It's clearly brazilian music inspiration.
Não deve ser coincidência :-)
não atoa o nome da musica é "Saudade", ou seja, uma palavra essencialmente portuguesa

unusual peice but beautifully performed and fascinating to see this skillful performance Alexandra is so talented what a joy to watch and listen to
Remarkable artistry. I enjoyed that performance not least for the masterful technic and dynamic range of music on display here.

What extremely interesting music, in the hands of a beautiful guitar wizard.
My favorite classical guitarist. ❤️
This piece's energi is cunning, can find another word for it 😊
Outstanding piece and your interpretation is thoughtful and moving
Amazing groove and syncopated independence. Masterful execution! B R A V A !
A soft, yet powerful style. No doubt you are outstandingly talented.
Talent is amazing: Not an easy piece to play yet performed seemingly effortlessly. Well done!
You know, I don't think she picked up a guitar for the first time and started playing this song perfectly, all of this is because of her practice.
@@Gabriel-xp8nh I agree practise does a good 75% of the job but talent still has a lot to do with the result
@@nicplourde talent is at most 5% of the equation, practice is everything
Bravo Alexandra! Great interpretation
👏👏👏!!! - Som da minha terra... Nordeste brasileiro!!! - Magnífica apresentação!!!
Très belle interprétation, hommage à Roland DYENS!!!!!!!!!
A master piece perfectly played ! Thanks Alexandra !
Love the way you play this wonderful song ! 😊
Clearly inspired by Brazil's Northeast music.
Claramente inspirada pela música do Nordeste brasileiro.
The true form of the guitar, so beautiful
Flattering that youtube showed it as a recommendation to me, thanks for the enriching music.

Miss Mr. Dyens. You did well in his memory on this piece.
I love her because she " plays like a master"...and I appreciate "masters."
This is just beautiful. I love how it has so many different styles combined into one composition. Very talented!
I know! It's incredible.
Good and quality workmanship! Thanks!
Still the best Suadade 3 on the internet
I love it when you accidentally discover something new and amazing.
That's brazilian notheast.
Great!!! amazing. Congrats Alexandra!
Roxane Elfaski brought me to Roland Dyens fine music. Alexandra Wittinghams interpretations are VERY fine, too. Thx, Alexandra!

This piece reminds me of something strange enough that the late John Fahe might play except that he approaches from a blues prospective where Alexandria classical. I’ve become a big fan and I love this piece.
Yes, John Fahey would probably have been intrigued by this music and found a way to adapt it to his style.
well thats a refreshing, weirdly beautiful sound!
