That was terrific. What a great collection of now disused trackside infrastructure. I especially like the semiphores. I hope that all of those signals don't end up being scrapped or vandalised. Thanks for sharing this. James.
Awesome! I remember the old Monon use to go down 5th. Street in Lafeyette Indiana home of Perdue. Use to go with my dad and mom also little bro in the fall as an kid in the 1980s also Teen in the 1990s for The Feast Of The Hunter's Moon. Also seeing CSX trains going down 5Th. Street going past the Hawkin's Rail Service Hobby Shop. This was way before the realignment project that caused the former Monon to be pulled up on 5th. Street and then moved to the old Big Four alinement. So the long CSX freight trains would split the town in half. The old hotel / train station became an performace theater and an section of track was left in front for historic purposes. My dad is an Perdue Grad. He also was an member of the Perdue Model Railroad Club.
Yes my special needs son agrees with you on that completely! He hopes and prays 🙏 that all portions of the Monon that have been abandoned and/or removed will be rebuilt and used again for both freight and passenger trains but he does not want that to be wishful thinking he wants it to be a reality!
The ones that had there blades were at Campbellsburg, Smedly, and Rush Creek Road but unfortunately the blades have been stolen after I took the pictures, the rest were at Orleans, Lepsic, & Saltillo.
@dionwilliams...: Not all of it will be turned into a trail. From Hammond IN to Dyer and Munster Indiana is going to be the new South Shore Line which will be operational sometime in 2025!

The line between Hammond IN and Munster and Dyer Indiana will become the new South Shore Line and be operational sometime next year.
Awesome!
Surprised to see those old semiphores still standing. I figured they would have been stripped by now. Thanks for sharing.

Do you know the locations of the semaphores?

There was also apparently a set at Farabee but has since been stolen.
Sad that this line is being ripped up and turned into a trail
