Getting so excited for our sailing in December back to NY. We did NY to Southampton last July with our dog. We all had a great time. The inside cabin looked way better than I thought it would. So lovely to see you so excited about sailing on the QM2. We were and are exactly the same. X
Great start to the voyage! Yes....that was us "tapping" on the window as you walked by on the promenade deck! So great to see you on this voyage and make your acquaintance in person. I hope you have a wonderful time in New York and safe travels home. We have "made it" home to Delaware!
Fantastic embarkation Video. I would also be straight in the pool. Also love that you get super excited like I do 🤩 I can’t wait to watch the rest of your QM2 videos 🙌 Luv ya x
Another brilliant embarkation day video Jamie 😊 We are off on QM2 for a transatlantic later in the year, and this has us VERY excited! Very strange about the no filming on the air bridge though - we've never heard that before either 🤔 It's great to hear about the WiFi too (we've definitely found onboard WiFi to be hit or miss on other ships). Looking forward to your next video 😊
I only found this channel 2 days ago watching the Ambasador Cruise Vlog Have always wanted to do a Cunard Trans Atlantic Route but not managed to so far. Great Vlog was laughing so much x. Just Subed
Looks so great, I can't believe I've been home for a week since my cruise. I did see the Queen Mary docked somewhere completely forgot so I will go through my pics and show you. Hope you had fun.xx
The welcome on board is very special and the ship has plenty to offer. If you get the chance there’s a few videos online that explain the design and why certain things were done. The naval architect Steven Payne took a lot of time getting right, the chairman at Carnival was very adamant that a new ocean liner would follow on from Queen Elizabeth 2 and the end product is QM2. Cunard is owned by Carnival but has a very British feel to it. Cunard is a well established cruise line and you certainly get well looked after. The buffet is a popular area and you never feel rushed. Compared to the bigger ships around it only has 3000 passengers and 1200 crew and is not a floating theme park. QM2 is built for speed and crossing the Atlantic at around 30mph.
Great vlog. I loved the excitement. I watched your sail away on Solent Ships. It’s a pity QA didn’t leave first for a horn battle. It was nice to see her following you though.
Great video Jamie. Something peculiar though, on Apple TV the resolution was only 240p. On my iPhone 720p. Unusual. I have a speed test at more than 300 mbps. Oh! Well! Nonetheless, enjoy Queen Mary 2. She is unique and regal.
Great video, and I'm pleased that you enjoyed a transatlantic on the magnificent QUEEN MARY 2. But one gripe I have and it's a mistake made by so many people. The terminal in the Port of Southampton is the Queen Elizabeth II Terminal, not the Queen Elizabeth 2 Terminal or QE2 Terminal. The Queen Elizabeth II Terminal at berths 38/39 was completed in June 1966 and named by HRH Queen Elizabeth II in July of 1966. The terminal is named after the former Queen, not after the former Cunard liner Queen Elizabeth 2. The terminal is littered with signs depicting as the Queen Elizabeth II Terminal, including the huge one as you arrive, which is clearly evident behind you in the video. "Welcome to the Queen Elizabeth II Terminal." The terminal was completed in 1966, whereas the liner Queen Elizabeth 2 entered service in 1969. Prior to Cunard relocating to the Queen Elizabeth II Terminal in 1980, the traditional Cunard berth was the former Ocean Terminal at berths 43/44 that was completed in 1950 and subsequently demolished in 1983. The former Ocean Terminal was situated on the other side of the Ocean Dock, where the current Ocean Terminal is located. Another gripe of mine is when people refer to the former Cunard liner as Queen Elizabeth II rather than Queen Elizabeth 2. The Queen Elizabeth 2 was named after the original Cunard liner Queen Elizabeth of 1940, not after Queen Elizabeth II, who actually named her. On a side note. The majority of Cunard sailings from Southampton now depart from the Mayflower Cruise Terminal at berth 106 in the port's Western Docks. The reason why the Queen Mary 2 was at the Queen Elizabeth II Terminal on this occasion was due to the fact that there were 5 cruise ships in port. Just to end......I joined the famous Cunard Line in 1983 at the age of 18 and worked onboard the Queen Elizabeth 2 for 12 years in the Purser department. I am now working shoreside within the Port of Southampton. My late grandfather worked for Cunard Line for 51 years and my father for 12 years, along with several uncles. I've got Cunard running through my veins. All you need to do now is book a cruise on another great Cunard vessel.
@TravelBlogJamie The term "voyage" is used frequently within the cruise industry, especially in US markets. The term voyage is used for longer voyages such as the traditional transatlantic crossing. The Transatlantic voyage has historically always been referred to as a "crossing," but voyage is generally used. Every ship has a voyage number, be it a cruise ship or container ship. It's a record of the ships operating history. Other than the scheduled Transatlantic crossings by the Queen Mary 2, the rest of the fleet, including the Queen Mary 2 undertake cruises or cruise holidays. As an old ass who's celebrating 41 years in the cruise industry this year, it took me several years to actually verbally change the term passengers to guests.
A lot of the most recent videos I've seen about the QM2 have been quite negative and all have mentioned removing the automatic gratuities due to how poor it had been. This seems to have just been the past few months so how long ago was this and what are your opinions on this based on your most recent experience?
Can’t wait to see how your voyage goes. Ben and David did not give it good ratings at all. I’ve seen so many mixed reviews. Just your entro makes me want to book. It’s a beautiful ship.
Thinking of booking inside cabin for this exact trip 21 July till 27 July quick question what’s weather like will I be able to sunbath every day? Or is it literally hit or miss hey.
Been fortunate enough to have sailed on the original QE2 and the Elizabeth, Victoria and we spent 10 nights on the Mary2 in 2012. Nice ship. Cunard are a great line to travel with. I like to do the med and their dates for doing so are limited, which doesn't fall into our plans. Enjoy your self, we've always have done traveling with them 👍
Jamie I love your vlogs but the quality of this video this time is really grainy which is really unusual for your vlogs. I'm not sure if you're aware or not? We watch all of your vlogs and really enjoy them 👍 and we've taken loads of your advice and tips 😊
I cried when I got onboard! It’s like joining a very special club!
