- Singer George Michael has died aged 53, his publicist has said.
The star, who launched his career with Wham in the 1980s and later continued his success as a solo performer, is said to have "passed away peacefully at home". Thames Valley Police said South Central Ambulance Service attended a property in Goring in Oxfordshire at 13:42 GMT. Police say there were no suspicious circumstances.

There's a lot of young deaths lately and I lost my dad at that age so it's becoming more common. I've heard of many deaths in their late 40s and also late 20s who have passed away and all different ages these days. Too many young deaths one after the other. Not everyone lives to be very old walking with a stick. Even though some might have made it to a long age, those days like before haven't remained

Although I wasn't around in the 80's I love Wham! and George as a solo singer and we'll never see anyone as good as him again. 8 months on and he's forgotten,with no chance of new music and pop music becoming even worse,the majority of today's children will never experience George Michael

Heart failure. Basically, in lay man's terms he had a big heart. It is very unusual to get it at this age, unless you are elderly, drink lots of alcohol, have DCM or HOCM, or have a history of drug abuse.
Heart failure? This is a sudden death in the home and will require a post mortem to establish what killed George. He obviously died in his sleep and that is why his PR have said heart failure. Drugs could well have contributed to the early death of this great artist. What makes me sad is that people think because the likes of Prince, George etc are success, talented and wealthy that they are super human and dont have the same afflictions like Joe Bloggs, anxiety,. depression and can lack confidence in their abilities. They have demons just like the rest of us. George Michael was a great singer, songwriter but had been fighting his demons for many years, which is very sad.

Yet another very sad day in popular music. Another mega star and mega talent of the 1980s is gone much too soon. Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Prince, now George Michael. Basically, Madonna is the only one in that era and league remaining. We don't have many talents like these anymore. Katy Perry, Beyonce, Taylor Swift, and others?...I don't think so.....they make tons of money but lack the true artistic and talent. George Michael's catalog is quite amazing. Yes, he made some of these silly type dance records but also matured into a serious vocalist and songwriter. Many of his songs are incredibly well written and produced, deeply emotional and introspective classics. He was also very influenced by American R&B music with covers by the Temptations, Isley Brothers, Stevie Wonder and duets with Aretha Franklin and Mary J Blige.
It’s truly sad he’s never gonna dance again.

Beyond words to describe how devastated I am. That goes to every fan of his. I feel like my childhood memories were being suffocated and buried. Last night some subway musicians were playing "Careless Whisper" at a Toronto subway station. These were the same musicians who always play the same oldies from the '50s. I was surprised to hear them playing George's hit. Little did I know at that time that he passed away until I reached home to hear the terrible news. RIP George.😭😭😭😢😢😢😢😢😢😭😭😭😭😭😭
