  • Have you been wondering if the cheaper chinese body armour or armor online are as good as they claim to be? Well I decided to buy one and have a look at how it is cos when it is really hot out there (summer), I don't want to ride my motorcycle without any form of protection at all.
    ★The size I got for the body armour was "LARGE" (I am about 5 foot 9 and weigh about 90kg).
    ★I bought my body armour from ebay
    ALWAYS WEAR THE CORRECT GEAR WHEN RIDING A MOTORCYCLE
    This FULL upper body armour (looks like the armour used by the "Wakanda" warriors) protects the back, chest, shoulders, elbows, arms and kidneys.
    After a test ride with this armour, I can confidently say "it was worth it" and was very comfortable. I practically forgot I had it on after a few minutes riding and would recommend it to anyone thinking of getting one.
    Something to also consider is combining this armour with a leather gear (wearing this underneath). Thanks to UA-cam user Shuleka for pointing this out in the comments section below.

    Hello! Nice cheap gear! But the most effective defense from the asphalt could be reached with leather jacket putted on this armor

      You are 100% correct!!!. Funny enough I mentioned this in the video but cut that part out to avoid confusing anyone thinking of getting this gear.
      I would update the description section below the video with your advice and hopefully it would help others.
      Thanks for mentioning this.

      I agree. A bigger size good quality leather casual jacket over it would do a great job protecting the skin. I think is an alternative if you don't want to buy a bike specific jacket if you have already a good leather one that will fit on the top of the body armour.Thanks for the review.

    Yeah those vests are meant to be worn under jackets or full leathers, and not as a pure substitute for summer jacket. Also, people misunderstand that it is designed as anti-abrasions, not full blown impact.

    • @DjBlinkBlink
      @DjBlinkBlink  3 роки тому +2

      Exactly, cos as you pointed out it was not designed to take a full-blown impact 👍🏽

    Hard plastic is good for slides but it needs to be backed by something like visco elastic foam which is soft normally but hardens to mitigate impacts. Brands who make such armor are Knox, Forcefield and 3dO. I personally have a Knox action short which is Lycra and holds the soft armour in place. However, it does not provide any abrasion resistance so you need an abarasion layer over it.
    I think the same is true of your armour. It really needs visco elastic armour underneath the hard plastic and maybe leather or more textile on top. Or just use it for dirt bike riding.

      Thanks for your detailed feedback and for taking the time to break it down.
      The hard plastic body armour I reviewed is for those that don't wear any form of armour in summer when it is too hot. Personally, my summer gear is a knox back protector, jacket and Kevlar jeans cos this plastic body armour is not enough for me on a sports bike 😎

    Thank you for the video. I don't understand which link is for your Body Armor. What is the name of it? Do you still wear it? How has it held up? Have you purchased anymore or other or better brand?

    • @DjBlinkBlink
      @DjBlinkBlink  4 роки тому +1

      Hello mate. To buy the body armour, search for "Motocross Body Armour" on eBay and you would find loads of them. To answer your questions:
      Yes, I still wear it (combined with my other motorcycle gear). It has held up well over the years so I did not have to purchase another one.
      Cheers,
      DJ Blink-Blink

    a fellow Yamaha rider, I have an R1, so you only have the A2 Licence then? Are you planning on getting the Full Licence?

    • @DjBlinkBlink
      @DjBlinkBlink  6 років тому +2

      Felix Collateral I have the full license already. Stepped down to the R3 cos it is easier to commute with it (now I'm bored with it so looking to get the R6 or Honda fireblade or maybe I would go for the R1). How are you finding the R1 though? It does look very sporty 😎

      massimo natanni The size I purchased was "large" and it was a perfect fit. I'm also about 5 foot 9 so this should give you an idea of how the gear wrapped around my body frame

      I couldn't post a link due to UA-cam's rules about links to eBay. However search for "MOTORCROSS MOTORBIKE MOTORCYLE BODY ARMOUR PROTECTION" and you would see this armour on eBay.

    Oh you have it, so you passed on 595cc and decided to buy half the power to commute? Doesn't make sense to me, not sure how it makes commuting easier as the less power of the R3 puts you more in danger from dangerous drivers. Do you commute on it regularly? I know alot of people with full licences that are scared to ride or scared of a little more power so they either don't ride or do what you have done and buy a low powered bike.The R1 is a nice ride once you get used to the hunched angle.

    • @DjBlinkBlink
      @DjBlinkBlink  6 років тому

      Felix Collateral had a big bike before but cos I rarely ride unless the A13 is mashed up I decided to sell it and get the R3 (which I'm now regretting 😂).
      Although to be honest, I only ride when I have to filter through traffic to work (my main mode of commuting is my car)
