    EXCELLENT presentation ! Thanks to professionals like you who take their personal time to help others not trained in such system knowledge. Personally, I found your video to be very informative with a very easy to follow methodical approach. If you can teach the slowest student in the classroom, then getting the point across to the remainder of the class should never be an issue ! Thanks very much for making your expert advice available to those fortunate enough to locate it on one of the greatest tools ever......UA-cam 👍🏻
    I am now a subscriber & have given you the "Like" that this video deserves !

    Hi! This was very helpful. Ours was removed by a crew who put in our kitchen backsplash and not put back correctly. No wires were marked. I tried to guess at it but with no luck. Any suggestions? The white, red and black groups were easy but the rest were a guess. I also had one thick black wire that I cannot figure out where it goes.

      Hi OneChipShort: Since re-installing is the reverse of un-installing - If you follow along with the Video and when I say "unhook this" You would reconnect it on yours - If that doesn't help you - you would need to contact me directly with whatever specific questions you have - I'll probably need some pictures of your installation, to be able to answer specific questions - Chris nscompany@msn.com

    Loved the video. Removed my M&S unit in less than 15 minutes. Question: are the “silver wires” ground wires?

    • @northsideservicecompany3567
      @northsideservicecompany3567  Рік тому

      Hi John: The 'Silver Wires' are the Shield Drain Wires - They are not 'ground-wires' in the way most people would think (not like the bare copper-wire on the back of an electrical outlet) In electronic devices, there can be 'digital grounds' and 'analog grounds' which are different than the 'electrical ground' that is connected to the green-wire on the transformer (which grounds the metal wall-housing).
      In the MC602, the Shield Drain Wires are connected to the Analog Ground of the Master Station. How effective this is questionable (in my opinion) - For shielding to be truly effective, the shield needs to be 'Earth Grounded' at both ends. Earth Grounding is also different that the 3 other grounds previously mentioned - It is typically either a metal rod that's driven into the ground or a metal water pipe that's buried in the ground. - Chris

    Chris, I have an old M&S System built into the wall of the dining room by the original owners of the condo. I believe it is a Model DMC1 system master installed by Linear Corp. It isn't working properly and want to disconnect it and remove it. There is no circuit breaker for it and it looks like the wires
    run into the master closet and have 2 plug in transformers and a short circuit protector. Any thoughts on if you think I could disconnect it or should I get someone else to do it? Thanks and great video

      Hii SonnySky7: When people tell me that "they want to remove it" I'm fairly sure they are just thinking about the Master Station and not the rest of the System. To actually remove a System - completley - you must remove all of the Remote Stations, both inside and Patio's plus the Door Station. If your System inlcudes a built-in Door Chime feature, you must figure out what you're going to do for a doorbell.
      The problem with leaving rements of the Syetem thourghout the house is that you now have a incomplete, non-working System. You may choose to sell the house some day and this could cause issues with buyers
      The cost to completely remove and entire System is not trivial, I had a customer last year start this exact converstation with me and the final cost to remove his System was around $850.00, which covered the equipment removal, wall patching and room painting. It is often best to hire someone with experience, since there's more to taking a System apart then you may think - Chris

    Nice work on the video! I'd love to see you deal with a IMA 4006. I have no more digital clock or radio. I took out the battery.Graingers has a battery v4.8 300mAh item #48H465. I don't know if it will fit or not. Another problem i have is the buzzing sound from the intercom. If i could fix that or learn how to and get a new battery to help with the clock and radio, I'll be so happy.
    But yeah a video on the masterIMA4006 would be a miracle. thank you

      Hi OlasipupoOgunmola: You could try performing a Reset on the Master Station - Here's a link to our Video that shows how to do the Reset: ua-cam.com/video/BkSTFVG1xs0/v-deo.html
      If that doesn't solve the problem - I will be posting a new Video in about a week that may address a similar problem with another MC602

    Would you say that you are a NuTone guy or an M&S guy? Seeing your videos, you seem more familiar with NuTone. I'm sure there are many reasons why and there are other manufactures.

    • @northsideservicecompany3567
      @northsideservicecompany3567  Рік тому

      Hi bigchevs1: I've been an Authorized NuTone Service Center for almost 40 years. I was also a NuTone Distributor for the first 28 years, with a Retail Store and NuTone Showroom - So I guess I'm a NuTone Guy.
      That being said, I have firsthand experience with M&S Intercoms from the early 1980's (when I worked for another company) and then again in the early 2000's (Nortek owned M&S by then) when NuTone was sold to Nortek. That gave us access to M&S Products and yes, we did sell and install some of their equipment.
      When the M&S DMC Models were rebranded as NuTone NM Series - we became more involved because we were required to work on the NM Series and it was natural to also begin working on the DMC Models.
      Over the past 4-5 years, there has been a great number of "old-timers" for both NuTone and M&S service, retire and leave the industry. This has caused a great increase in the number of calls we receive about M&S Systems. It is difficult to tell people, over and over, that you can help them with there repairs and that we don't have any referrals as to who they can call.
      I decided that we should put together a more formal plan and build-up our ability to work on M&S Equipment. This is simply a copy of how we do repairs on NuTone Equipment - we need to be able to offer M&S repairs with the same confidence and abilities that we have with NuTone Systems. This is a moderately long process, and it will really take another 2-3 years to have M&S repair work be seamless and efficient.
      At my core, I will always be a NuTone Guy first, however I'm working really hard to not look side-ways at M&S equipment - Chris

    Poor attempt at humor that became annoying for someone simply wanting to learn how to take it down. Thanks for the video but dang. Maybe tone it down a few notches next time.
