All their songs remind me of memories I've never had, love I've never felt, stories I've never heard, places I've never been, sights I've never seen, and the depression that drags me into the dark seems just a little lighter. Thank you OMAM, I think you've saved another life.

How do I explain it? "Of Monsters and Men" is the sort of band that brings me to memories of the greatest nights of my life. I listen to their music and it's always nostalgia running through me; precious memories of being with friends on a beautiful spring night, or holding hands with a loved one. They get under my skin in the best way.

You know, the video reminded me of the story in "Dirty Paws", as there's a black forest covered in snow, and giant monsters walking along. Fits the description of the war between the birds and the bees. Mayhaps 'tis what being caught in the war was like for the dragonfly.

There’s also, “wolf and I” which could be hinting towards Slow and Steady (“two wolves running in the wind). Then the “we ride, we ride, we ride, ride it all out” could be hinting towards mountain sound (the horse theme)

I am a big fan of OMAM and love all their songs. Please don't hate, Im only 11 :(
Born in darkness, born the night
I flutter to the promise of light
    to the warmth,
    to the glow,
to the new sense of sight
from the world concealed by by the clutches of night
my flaws are not seen by the promise of light
back to the darkness, back to the night.
now there is nothing I can see

i never ever comment on youtube videos but this song is helping me get through life right now. I'm 16 and experiencing my first week of boarding school. I'm so homesick and this is by far the hardest thing i've ever done. i havent found any friends yet so i feel extremely alone and the words "alone, i fight these animals until i get home" really makes me feel better. I've never wanted to be at home with my family more in my life. :(

I just want to say that this song is in fact about a man named Hugh Glass. He is known for his extraordinary and horrible journey of survival. He was attacked by a bear and after, his friends thought he was dead so they took all of his weapons and tools off of his body and threw him in a grave they dug, before leavig to travel home. For six weeks, he made his way crawling through the wilderness, surviving only on bugs, fighting of wolves and even havig to rub his infected, mangled and magnet infested back against the bark of a tree to get the bad stuff out.

I have a little story to tell. Back in january I was finally able to take a holiday trip to other country, was finally able to visit new places with new cultures. It was only a week long but definitely was the best week I have had in a while or even in my entire life. During the whole week I always listened OMaM, all the sweet, nice and new memories are always paired with OMaM's song, it was a magical combination. So now everytime I listened to OMaM it always bring me back to the holiday week, creating one of the most memorable memories I have ever had. And this wong was the last song on the playlist, creating that cherry on top closure, Thanks OMaM!

Among the amazing music and great visuals, one of the best things about these songs is the lyrics, how they seem to tell a story, yet leave it up to the listener to tell at the same time. Each song can be interpreted so many different ways, making it seem like the listener is the author of the story of that song. That is why I love this band so much, they leave everything up to the imagination!

I heard the lyrics are about Hugh Glass, mountain man and Beaver trapper. In 1823 while on a trapping mission he was attacked and severely mauled by a grizzly bear. His head, face, back had flesh ripped and leg broken. They carried him on a stretcher for three days made of branches. The leader decided he was slowing them down too much. He paid two men to stay and bury him when he died. After a few days, the men, John Fitzgerald and Jim Bridger thinking he was going to die left him still alive, taking his only means of survival, a gun, tomahawk, knife and fire making supplies. He regained enough strength to crawl to water, eat berries and roots. For about two months or more, he crawled, hobbled and limped over two hundred miles to Fort Kiowa in present day southern South Dakota. They said when he served at the fort, he looked like a walking skeleton in ragged clothes. After recovering, he set out to find the men who had left him for dead. After a couple of months, he found young teenage Jim Bridger, who because of his youth he forgave him. After more searching, months later found John Fitzgerald, who was in the Army. Unless Hugh Glass wanted to be locked up for killing a soldier, he was forced to let him go and retrieved his beloved rifle from him. With the warning that if Fitzgerald ever left the Army, Glass would kill him. Ten years later at the age of fifty years old, Glass and several other trappers were killed in an Indian attack. The movie"The Revenant" was made supposedly about Hugh Glass but wasn't very accurate. Another movie from 1971 " The Man In The Wilderness" starting Richard Harris, again only semi accurate. This information came from a magazine or book called, Cowboy and Indians, and believed to be the most accurate version of Hugh Glass' life and adventures.

    We crawl on the ground.

    Alone, until I get home.

One f there more there more energetic and rocky songs, they have a very particular sound that they can play in many styles, but they never stray from there core aspects in music and personality and that is why we all appreciate them.

Ive been having LITTLE TALKS with myself BENEATH MY BED, waiting over SIX WEEKS for this song that I LOVE LOVE LOVE. This video deserves to be seen by well over a THOUSAND EYES... This is one of those songs you can feel deep in YOUR BONES. Weather it's a hike up BLUEBERRY MOUNTAIN, or a visit to your BACKYARD, this song will embed itself into your ORGANS, your heart, brain etc... This is my WINTER SOUND, my MOUNTAIN SOUND, my EMPIRE. This is my YELLOW LIGHT in an ocean of BLACK WATER, because I am only HUMAN, WE all SINK I am a SINKING MAN. It's a SLOW LIFE, and I move SLOW AND STEADY
a PHANTOM follows me as I stare at the SKELETONS covered with ice CRYSTALS near my LAKEHOUSE. I blaze my illegal NUMB BEARS to try and escape the pain as I enter a deep deep SLOOM. I want to be in HAWAII, I want to have this HAPPY SONG with me. I feel this HUNGER, like WOLVES WITHOUT TEETH do. Their DIRTY PAWS follow their KING AND LIONHEART, searching for the I OF THE STORM.
I picture SILHOUETTES of A BOY AND A BIRD, floating on PARTICLES. The boy, JOSIE, is playing with SUGAR IN A BOWL, sadly singing "WERE GETTING OLDER"
This is the power of this song...

It's weird and irrelevant but when my cat got older and we moved to a populated area she became an indoor cat. Which is good because she was old anyways. One time I caught her staring intensely at the tv while I was playing this song. I think she liked looking at the trees. Makes me think about my kitty.
