Hi Abdul, if we have a project created using Datum A and now it needs to be changed to Datum B, is it an easy task to change it in the GIS module or any other steps to be taken along with that? Would we need to regenerate the profile as well?
Hi, This is a very good question. Path Loss support two basic types of Datum, Geodetic and Geocentric. If you are changing a Geocentric Datum with another Geocentric Datum then you do not need to do anything else and there is very negligible difference in the coordinates. However if you are changing between two different local datum or changing from local to geocentric then there will be difference in coordinates and in these case you will need to re-generate the profiles as well. If we have someone here who has more knowledge on GIS then he is requested to please share his knowledge as well. Because as per my understanding there is some way of removing these errors as well, however these processes are GIS dependent as you have different range of errors between different datum.
@@KhanAbdulAziz Thank you for your detailed response. It was helpful. Fortunately, the datum I had to change didn't make a difference to the original coordinates so I didn't have to re-generate terrain profiles. BTW, I found out that if you're working on multiple paths and want to apply datum change to each of the links, instead of changing them manually, you can update the datum form the main network file (.gr5) and push that change to all the MW links associated to that particular network. As long as your coordinates should remain the same, no need to generate the profile and you can preserve all the clutter data. If the new datum will change the coordinates, you'll have to re-generate the terrain profile.
@@b0nvivant thanks for your reply. Yes, If there is no change in the coordinates then you do not need to re-generate profiles. It is nice that you learned the method yourself, let me share it here so that anyone else reading this conversation may get benefit. If you have to change the datum, then save your GIS file. click on operations and then set pl5 datum projection. Or you can use operations-> transform coordinates, this will do the conversion and updation of pl5 files.
brother great to see your videos, will help me a lot , i am also from Pakistan and working for Africa and middle east as radio transmission engineer.
Sure, keep in touch
en el minuto 5:25 creo que estas explicando sobre un mapa que no se ve en el video.
No exactamente, solo estoy describiendo cómo se ingresa la latitud y la longitud en la pérdida de ruta, no estoy hablando del mapa en el fondo.
@@KhanAbdulAziz ok Gracias
Can we load building height data in pathloss 5?
Yes, in the GIS part you can add extra clutter information if you have.
Also you can manually add specific building in terrain, if you need.
