I will likely never be able to afford to travel to Istanbul, thank you so much for creating such well thought out and descriptive documentaries of the sites available to visit in the city. This almost makes up for not being able to visit in person.
Another good tool for exploring from a distance is Google maps. You obviously can't go inside anything, but it's good for getting a good idea of the layout.
Popular Opinion is City was demolished in 1453 but it has been actually damaged and looted in Latin invades way before Ottoman conquered. Still feeling lucky that we have still these columns (without status on top) and several debris areas
Wow - the photo at 1:19. I can see we look in the dricetion of Augusteion? Any more info on this photo, or the source? Or maybe it's an artwork and I got tricked? Also, Robin, great video as always, although with this one I must say the sights make me weep more than marvel.
cant seem to find the « click here » at the end for the archeological museum video. I suggest you include such links on the video description next time. Thanks for the videos, I just discoveree your channel while visiting turkiye
@@TheHistoryofByzantiumPodcast I'm looking forward to that video as well. Your channel has been inspiring in all kinds of ways. Thank you for all your hard work!
That city probably the most fascinating city. The under ground caves where you can see lotr mines of moria inspiration from... the wealth n knowledge launched europe into renaissance period rebirth economics n philosophy...the Islamic Golden age is from the lay out of their establishment.
The problem is Devil runs the world. He is lier and murderer. This is the reason why deception and violence are everywhere. That's why we've got the Gospel about the God's kingdom. Jehovah would put everything in order. The dead will be resurected and we'll meet our beloved ones again! :-)
You mean jeheveh, johovoh, jihivih? Tetragrammaton has no vowels. JW’s are a polytheist cult that when commenting on intellectual rigors leave signature marks of their ignorance. Stay away from Jehovah!
Thank you for these videos, all of them, they are truly valuable

And the damage from several large earthquakes destroyed the city several times
I have always read that the designs on the columns were not of oak trees, but from peacock feathers, and symbolized eternity.
We don't get to see much from the local tour guide. Thanks for this great podcast Robin.
Great video
Absolutely awesome Robin

City of Constantine was the City's nickname--its name was New Rome.

احمد الخواجه😂😂😂😂
The nominative plural of forum is fora.
I mean, yes, in Latin, but it's fine to Anglicise the morphology of a foreign word.

Constantine the Weak, Constantine the Betrayer. He doesn't deserve to have this great city named after him.
Why?
