Thanks for watching. Enjoy!
Awesome, I had a Mongoose Iboc Pro in 1992 for my first MTB races!! This video brings back some memories. Really appreciate your work 🙌🏽
My pleasure 😊
Great job on this one, Andy! I really like how the decals, rear triangle and cassette all match. I also like that you don't let yourself be limited by the way the frame was built. You want cable stops somewhere else? You go for it! You're very bold and I admire that. I've really enjoyed all your videos. Thanks for putting yourself out there for our entertainment. Keep it up, Andy!
My pleasure. And thank you!
cast alloy hanger with a 12 speed spring and 12 speed on a 135mm OLD frame how did that work out ?@@AndyEFonUA-cam
Woow! What a stunning build and great parts selection! 😍 Plus, it weighs nothing too! Great job Andy! 👏
Thanks!
The paintjob of this classic is spot on! 😍
Nice work. Very nice work in every aspect.
vary nice job indeed - my bike shad is full of components and my head full of ideas - tank u for the inspiration
love the bodges and hacks in this. good stuff!
You have done a awesome job. Congratulations 🎉
Thank You!
My first decent mtb was a Mongoose IBOC chromoly hardtail. Best thing I ever bought because when the downtube broke on a trail ride Mongoose gave me full warranty coverage. They allowed to trade up to their top of the line titanium frame--Mongoose Triomphe for $350. Frame built in USA by Titanium Sports Technologies. I could never have affirded such a frame any other way. I still ride it today with XTR 965 group picked up new on Ebay at great prices. Nice build you have there!
Love this build. Excellent work and very nice choice in components especially tires
Thanks!
Great inspiration - I am currently planning to switch my 2002 Yeti ARC into a 28 inch Speed road bike! Got a lot of inspiration from your video - and I also see the fork as a major issue to the geometry of the build. Thanks!
Very beautiful bike!! Congratulations
Thank you very much!
Fantastic colour scheme
Absolutely mental 🔥🔥🔥
Fantastic job!!!!!!
Super nice built!
Really great craftsmanship what you did with this bike and the Raleigh 👌🏻Thanks for sharing your videos and hope to see more of your projects in the future.Keep up the good work and ride safe🚴🏻♂️👍🏻🍀
My pleasure
beautiful bike!
Thanks!
Great video, awesome work! :)
A thing of beauty.
Nice build.. especially the colors. Keep it up👍
Awesome 👌 👏
Be aware that some aftermarket OSPW have open ceramic bearings, they will run fine for the first 100km. After that they will usually degrade very fast, keep your old pully wheel or switch the bearings from the old wheel to the new one.
Thanks. If that happen, I kept the old pulleys as backup
and be aware of hopping chain from that lower big ospw, too, especially when you are riding offroad.. one time when i changed my lower jockey wheel (original was 11t, the new one were 15t) and the chain keeps hopping. Soo frustrating!
Anyway, nice content!
@@ajthmmht check if you installed it backwards, they're not symmetrical.
@@PRH123 i did, it was right and my hypothesis maybe right....
Nice build. One concern I noticed was the seatpost, which seems too short. I reckon, minimum insertion length was not met.
Thanks. It is indeed short. I am just 167cm in height and the seatpost has been cut to suit me, with ample space for the inset part to sit precisely at the chainstay tubes and top tube section, furthermore the frame seatpost tube is long enough to make up the desired length. In short, anybody taller than 167cm and with Crankset of 175cm will not be able to use it 😅
Kudos for this interesting job. Especially when you are on a budget.
I'd have done a few things differently anyway : 1. Preparing frame and fork before the paint job. 2. Stick / glue on the cable guides on the fork as well instead of fixing the cable housing with cable ties. 3. Go for pulley wheels with larger bearings as from Leonardi Racing. 4. Go for Ritchey Ergo Max handlebar and a stem with higher angle instad of bunch of spacers.
One question : The XTR Shifter fits as intended in terms of ergonomics?
Thanks! The shifter clamp need to be wedged wider to fit, and will also need longer bolt to clamp it properly
Super bike! I’d love to do this to my Big Sur Gary Fisher 1996 mountain bike.
Thanks and good luck with your Gary Fisher!
@@AndyEFonUA-cam what size and brand wheels and tyres did you get?
@@guidojt I highly recommend you check in Aliexpress for a brand named Avian. A Chinese manufacturer and their wheels are top notch. I no longer buy DT Swiss now. My current bike project is using Avian C2 38mm which is actually lighter and as strong as my DT Swiss XRC1200 33mm. For tires I would recommend the range of 35c especially Schwalbe or Panaracer
nice build my friend👍
Thank You
Two notes. First was the whole disc brake set up …. Second was you should have installed a derailleur hanger which would have allowed for cleaner shifting on suck a large cassette
But the frame is super sweet …Well done !!
Thanks! The disc setup was temporary. The front now uses proper IS mount fork and the rear uses much sturdier 4 points sandwich adapter. Totally no flex and dependable. The not so smooth shifting was really due to KCNC cassette optimized for SRAM XD chains, I used Shimano XTR 12 speed chains which apparently have thicker outer wall. And that contributed to some abrasion between cogs. The XTR RD is GS spec so it has no issues with reach even over 52t
parabéns!!!!! ficou linnnda esta bike
That cassette 😍
Great work, it would be interesting to know where you shop for components and what approx expenditure you had on this exemple
Nice build but you didn’t go over any of the disc brake install which I think were the most significant change to the bike. How did you decide on those? What were some challenges? Missed opportunity here.
Thanks. The disc setup were really makeshift solutions for this video as now I am already running on proper disc mount carbon fork for front. The rear has been changed as well with a newer type of adapter you can find easily in Aliexpress. Don't go for the steel adapter like what I did, they flex under stress. Get the sandwich type which is built on aluminum plate and with 4 bolts mounting. Those are super secure
Yes, I actually ended up ff the video, no disc coverage. What? Hmmm... This video is not done until bike is sorted mate!
Awesome videos!
Andy, make one single speed bike! Please!!!🥲😁
Greetings from Kris, from Croatia 😎
I also have a very modified Mongoose Iboc Comp* 😍 ;D
I stayed more in a balance of classic and modern, it’s a beauty too!
Lovely to see more of these getting this love
I had in mind to do Discs at some point, but weld to the frame instead of that adapter
How has it been with adapter? Gave me ideas here!
Maybe I could get at some point a fork for discs, and at the back weld or adapter (wouldn’t hurt much the original paint because seat stays are black, so easy fix)
Man got so excited with this video! Hahah :D good job, great upload :)
Good luck on your project!
Oooo a suspension stem. I have found them very niche. Excelling on old school concrete, separated/damaged asphalt, hard pack dirt with potholes and demon level chipseal.
Yep. Redshift really made them practically usable. Can be tuned differently on how you want it. Just change the elastomers
Excelente trabajo saludos desde Argentina!!!!
Beutifull bike! You should invest in a vice. Cheers.
Thanks! Already bought a proper vice haha
I love the look... of that build... for the headset are you using a threadless headset now? how are you preloading the bearings?
Hello, great job!
On my mind, you need to change your short seatpost to longer seatpost, because the short seatpost can break your frame.
And are your brakes securely attached to the frame?
Please post a video of some riding!
🤘😊
Buen video amigo, deberías poner por favor los links de compra de las piezas que utilizas.
Hermosa súper te felicito
sadly the disc brakes at the front will be a major source of pain until you get the new fork as the caliper and disk will be misaligned
What mounts are you using for the disc brake calipers?
Some clever solutions to keep costs in control. Well done. Where did you buy the cable stops?
Which cable? the front or rear shifters? or the brakes?
@@AndyEFonUA-cam they all look the same.
Was really hoping to see what you did with the brakes
Sorry I didn't record that part. I forgot to press the record button on my phone which was strapped to my chest, lol. Silly me. But really they are Aliexpress Adapters. And I messed up with the mounting bolts and grinded off some section to fit the frame. But I have changed the rear one already to a better unit which is made of aluminum with steel plate, more solid
I just don't get it. You are using all those high end components, but despite all of that you are doing such an amateurish/sloppy job on the frames, using super glue for the bosses and all those sketchy adapters. Just why? A nice paintjob doesn't replace the bike's safety.
That super glue lasted until today intact. Even with the stress from the brake lines. The brakes are just temporary, as the front fork now uses proper IS disc mount. The rear uses very solid aluminum plate adapter sandwich which doesn't flex under duress
I absolutely love the creativity but I am a bit weary of the shifting and cabling to the derailleur. I believe the chain tension is the main cause of issues. when setting the cable tension for the derailleur you typically don't have a chain on yet. that comes after.
You are right, all issues resolved after I added 2 chain links. The chain used were cut for 32/10-51 stock XTR as was used on my MTB, obviously with 36/9-52 I needed proper slack. Also, it goes even better after I removed one spacer from the drive side BB. So it's all about fine tuning after all
@@AndyEFonUA-cam love the update bro. It's cool project.
How can I find those discbrake adapters?
Wow, looks superawesome! What kind of drop bar were you installing? Seems to be very few drop bars with a small diameter to instal MTB periphery.
The drop bar is the same as other drop bars, what i did differently was to wedge the shifter clamp to bigger diameter and install longer bolt. And it works
Bang. Kena beli stand bike repair and restore bang. Saya dulu dah tercuduk juga. Best2 polish atas yg bawah habis damage..
Dah beli dah hahahaa
Ni mongoose saya hari tu kan. Saya baru dpt brand KHS made in USA. TAPI FRAME 15. NAK BUAT PROJECT LG WSSP SAYA..
Ye btol
what crank is this?
My main question is, how did you manage to fit the 29er wheels on that frame i suppose it is a 26? or what?
Older MTB can easily accept 29er wheels for as long you keep the tyre size below 2.0
After seeing this I'm now sorry I sold my Rockhopper which was in pristine condition 😩
Stunning
brooo you just gave me an idia with my old myb frame i only need a rb breaks and a cassette now oh bars and rigid fork.
LOL. Have fun at it!
I really like what you have done with the bike! I am curious about which adapters you have used for the discbrakes. You've mentioned something about Alie-express and sandwich plated, but i can only find the steel versions... Can/will you help me? With kind regards,
Chris

Thank you very much, just orderd a pair.
why cut those expensive Redshift seatpost. I know its for measure to your size, but you could have save it, if you decided to replace with different one. Anyways nice build and the color choice is perfect!.
what are you doing!!! 😂
Question! Just came across your video while rebuilding my bike.. did you put a regular headset with a threaded fork? I would like to do the same with a quill stem adapter like you did but im kinda scared it’s not going to last..
Thanks. Retro MTBs normally are already using 28.6mm forks. So despite being threaded, they have similar diameter to non treaded forks. You can get 34mm headsets and combine them to work. In my case, I used a fork extender adapter to provide enough length for the stem to fit in. May require a bit of experimenting on your end to see how they will fit
can we have a parts list?
What kind of disc brake adapters you use?
Unbranded from AliExpress, but please don't use this one in the vid. Look for my other vid which will show a more solid adapter which doesn't flex
@@AndyEFonUA-camYeah but it works only with aluminium frames, steel frames are too thin. I've tried.
Los soportes para los frenos de disco al cuadro que tal funcionan? Dan la sensación de que no sean estables al ir cogidos con abrazaderas?
They are not great really, flex under braking. So I have changed the front fork for proper disc mount and use bigger adapter at the back
2:38 ouch..
What glue are you using for the cable guides?
X2000 Super Glue
@@AndyEFonUA-cam Thanks
I want to know what type of disc brake adapter did he used...

Buenos días dónde compro para Colombia precio y envío gracias
Looks cool. But no way that's 9 kg. I would guess at least 12. Steel frame, steel fork, suspension seatpost.
Você fez o que eu queria fazer custo benefício.
I'm surprised you got this under 9kg (with pedals??). Do you have a complete list of components?
Yes with pedals. Give me your email and I can send you the complete breakdown in XLS format. That's how I planned by builds, inspect every components weight and decide which one
@@AndyEFonUA-cam can you send me that build list also? Thank you!
how did you manage to fit mtb shifter on drop bar, aren't the diameters for mtb shifter and road equivalent 22.2mm and 23.8mm diameter respectively?
Some MTB shifters has clamps that can be expanded. What I did with mine, I just wedged the gap with a lever until they expand big enough. Sorry no video on that as this was done earlier. Thanks
@@AndyEFonUA-cam I'd put what you did with the clamp in the vid notes.
the tectro shifter suppor 12 speed xtr?
The Tektro is just for cable brake, the XTR shifter works independently
9-52 i guess 😉 5-52 cassette on a xd driver, nahhh 😜
Lol thanks, yes it's a 9-52. You have sharp eyes. My mistake on the description
What is that cassette?
KCNC 9-52T
Are the brake levers Tektro?
Yes. Tektro
🙄😅
Andy Ef? I think you're familiar with me. You're from Audiophile community right?
Yes, it's me
@@AndyEFonUA-cam oww I see nice! Anyway nice gravel build.
The frame, is alloy??
It's a classic Carbon tubes with alloy joints
@@AndyEFonUA-cam ok, whats the weight of this, and whats the weight of the fork?
@@carlossegovia7387 The frame is 1.7kg and the steel fork is 890gm
Thks!
Merhaba Bu bisikleti bana gönderirmisin ? Çok güzel ona sahip olmak istiyorum Turkey
It is already sold to another person. Thanks
are you the dongle guy?
You mean Andy.EF. It's me
а подседел то коротковат
Because the rider is just 167cm in height
What brake adapters did you use for the frame and fork?
You can find them easily in AliExpress. Just search for disc brake adapters
