    Excellent explanation and demonstration. Many people show knots, but not their application, I was looking for the bowline, and found your video and now I realize how big of a hole I have had in my life having not known about the truckers hitch. Thanks!

    Very good explaining, wish the visual examples were all like the first example you did with a clear pop up image so we can see what you're doing without your hands been on the way. At least this video told me the names of the knots so i can look them up

    They're my three favorites too! We use them for building materials, mainly. However, I learned them in marine construction. I add a second loop in the trucker's hitch. Nice video.

      Yes, a second run through makes it hold under tension so it’s easier to tie the half hitch (I do a slip knot for the half so it’s stupid easy to undo)

    Thanks! I have always used ratchet straps because I am terrible at tying any sort of knot other than a couple of basic fishing knots. This will definitely come in handy.

    A solid video, but you can improve your truckers hitch. When you make your loop on top, give it two or three twists before you pull the final loop through. When you only give it one twist and then pull the loop through, then crank your truckers hitch REALLY tight, you will have a knot you cannot undo. With two or three twists, it comes out easily. Experiment with it.

    Did you show two different bowline knots?

  • @williamd4707
    @williamd4707 4 роки тому

    Definitely not a bowline nor a truckers hitch. Why? The knot that creates the loop binds on itself and is very difficult to undo. Truckers do not have the time to undo bound knots. A true truckers knot is a double twist/wrap with an extended loop where the tail is brought back through and then looped back through to create a double loop with twice the pulley power.
