    Great video. I'm taking your idea and transferring it to my outdoor bar area to be able to watch TV while at the bar, but also slide and swivel the TV to watch on the patio. Glad I found you. Was tossing the idea back and forth between a channel strut and outdoor box rail, but the channel strut has MANY more ceiling mount areas than a similar sized box rail. I'll send pics and credit your channel when done. Thanks!

    I'm going to spend my friend's money and we're going to do this in his man cave. He's getting an awesome pool table that's going to destroy his home theater setup, but if we could get the TV to slide over the center of the pool table when it's not in use, he could still have furniture on the end of the long dimension of the room and the TV wouldn't be super far away on the other side of the table. I like shooting pool for free, but I like watching movies on the baddest home theater setup I've ever seen more, and his wife ain't letting him have two man caves in the house. My buddy isn't super DIY himself, but he's a lot taller than me so he can help me put everything up there while I'm standing on a milk crate on the other side.🤣

      @@TheDerekFrank Will do, buddy. I've got to get him on board first, but I think I can sell him on it. I was researching how to put the table on castors at first, but there doesn't appear to be a good way to do it that wouldn't end up cracking the slate table or making the table 4" or more higher than it should be. Even if we were able to do that, he'd have to then pull up all the furniture close to the TV after moving the table out of the way. Then I had the crazy idea to put the TV on the track. I found some pretty expensive home kits that would even allow you to control it with a remote, but figured there'd be a way to do it yourself on the cheap, and that's how I found your video.

    Great video. I am in mid project. Thought it was an original idea because I couldn't find anything on the web. Anyway, i am hiding my tv behind a picket door and am looking for retractable cables to easily slide with it instead of having to handle them every time. Any ideas?

    • @TheDerekFrank
      @TheDerekFrank  8 місяців тому

      You could look at some retractable cord reels like you would use in a garage. I have also been playing around with some different ideas for that. I currently leave a little slack in the cables and have them in a wire loom to keep it looking uniform but would love to make it even cleaner

    Is it possible to connect two unistrut with brackets and still be able to move the trolly?
    At my local hardware they don't sell one but instead i have to buy multiple unistrut to achieve the same length.

    • @TheDerekFrank
      @TheDerekFrank  25 днів тому +1

      @@A7Self you definitely can! They make connector piece that will make it more secure. You may have a little bump in the track, but if you play with the adjustments, you should be able to fine tune it

    Love this - was looking to do the same thing - I have one additional issue I would love your thoughts on - I have a bit of a curve in addition to two straight parts for the rail - it is a very wide angle, not like a 90 degree - is there anything like unistrut that could have a bend in it to get by a curve ? Thx

    • @TheDerekFrank
      @TheDerekFrank  Місяць тому +1

      That's a really good question. You could maybe lightly bend unistrut, but I wouldn't recommend doing it very far. I've also thought about doing a tube system so that you could work with curves. Maybe I should do that next?

    • @TheDerekFrank
      @TheDerekFrank  21 день тому

      @@flohmin in theory you could but you are right, you would need some kind of locking mechanism and probably a counter weight or something to help it not crash to the floor

    • @TheDerekFrank
      @TheDerekFrank  Рік тому +1

      I just had to drill a couple of holes in the top so the bolts for the trolley could go in. Only reason I didn't go more in depth was that if someone bought type of mount, they may have to do it a little differently
