Why Haven't Sony Remastered The Ratchet & Clank PS3 Series?

- It's beyond strange that the Ratchet & Clank Future series that released throughout the PS3 era never received a rerelease/remaster for PS4 considering that a lot of Sony's 1st party titles did. Due to the recent success of Rift Apart this may just be the perfect time to do so.

That would be amazing but the chances of that right now are kind of extremely slim. Insomniac games is no square enix or no tetsuya nomura either but nothing is impossible.

I find it weird Jak was the only PS2 platformer to come to PS4. They should have done sly and ratchet
Sucker Punch and Insomiac were both working on other projects, and Vicarious Visions was doing the Crash N.Sane Triligy at the time. I would have been tough to find a good studio for it.
@@darienb1127 Naughty Dog have been busy with Uncharted and The Last of Us the past couple of generations. Didn't stop me from porting Jak on ps4 🤷♂️

You’re definitely right about tools of destruction and quest for booty never having trophy support. It really is such a shame. As well as resistance 1 too.
And there is one PS3 game that not even on PS Now

The Future Trilogy aged like a fine wine.
I think they really need to remaster the PS2 Era games before jumping in and remastering the PS3 games. Don't get me wrong I love the PS3 games, but the original games on the PS2 (especially Going Commando) are still to this day my favorite in the series.
I actually used my PSNow free subscription to play Crack in Time again. Favorite game as a kid, felt so good to see that I got my first trophy back in 2009 and got a new one in 2021 lol
Honestly, it really helps that creators like you are saying this, cus I'm pretty sure we'll get most of the old games rereleased/remastered if they just see that there's enough demand for it

I’ve only played the 2016 release and Rift Apart. It’d be amazing if either Insomniac or BluePoint Games takes the time and day just to remaster and rerelease these games onto PS4 or PS5.
They need to give us remakes of all the original playstation icons like they did for crash and spyro
It’s so hard for me to decide which was my favourite ratchet and clank game on PS3. I mean a crack in time is definitely a masterpiece but nexus was a really great follow-up too!
Into the Nexus was outstanding, but it's too short. Don't get me wrong, it's so good, but it ends way too soon

Its about too be my birthday and i finnly getting the ratchet and clank classics collcletion torulgy been wanting that for so many years i play up your aursnel as a kid but never the orginal or going commando i tough up your ausnel was the 1st one and after next 2 games i want too get is full fusion assult and into the nextus and ps5 getting rifts apart im such a big ratchet and clank fan i whould loved too own every colltection of it
I hope they remaster the ps3 trilogy on the ps4/ps5 with full trophy support, those games were my childhood!!
I hope they do this for the 20th anniversary of Ratchet and Clank. Also, here's my idea of what they should do, make a collection of the original PS2 games, first one, Going Command, Up Your Arsenal, & Deadlocked. Then do one with the future trilogy with Tools of Destruction, Quest for Booty, A Crack in Time, & Into the Nexus. And then one more for the Spinoffs with, Size Matters, Secret Agent Clank, All 4 One, & Full Frontal Assault. And then...again only for the PS5 version, all of the collection into one disc for $70 (or more) dollars and it be called, Ultimate Ratchet and Clank Mega Collection!
They can work out with the pricing later, idk. :P

A friend and I have been talking about this for years, even before rift apart. We want the future series back, and the first 2 infamous games (not related to this video but just games we want brought to the store again)
Fun fact: I did actually replay all the ratchet and clank games that released on PS3 last year just before Christmas. I literally had a full blown marathon of tools of destruction, quest of booty, a crack in time, all 4 one, q-force and nexus. Mainly for the release of rift apart which I still haven’t played as of yet. Hoping to get a ps5 one day!
I just want to play Up Your Arsenal on PS4. Would pay ridiculous money.
Tools of Destruction, Crack in Time and Into the Nexus still look better than some current games. The artstyle is just perfect!
Unfortunately, Into the Nexus is at 30 fps.
@@gamestation2690 I unfortunately missed out on Nexus because my PS3 ended itself just before it came out. I would love to either get my PS3 repaired, or a replacement PS3 to play my old games again. I still have unfinished business with the PS3.

My guess as to why they haven't been remastered is probabaly due to Insomiac being really busy over the past couple of years. remember that they made Spiderman ps4 and Miles Morales. And sure they kight get another studio to work on the ports like how Vicarious Visons did the Crash remasters, but Vicarious was also bought out by Blizzard, and finding another company could be tough (assuming Insomiac can't work on it atm). I'd love to see remasters though, with this being a pretty good time for it.
Given how well received the recent additions of the first Sly Cooper game, PSP's Daxter, and Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters to PS Plus have been, I do hope they do a remaster collection disc for the Future saga one day.
Sony and Insomniac Games should get Bluepoint Games to do this, as that company was acquired by Sony a few years ago and they specialize in making remasters and collection disc of games for the latest consoles.
They should bring this back the least they could do is bring back sly cooper from the Ps2 or ps3 and put it on the PS4 store for everyone along with the Ratchet and clank series
They should bring all of them in like they did with Kingdom Hearts. Yeah, All 4 One and Full Frontal Assault hadn't been well received, but every game has it's fans. I mean, if Re:Coded could be brought in (even if only as cutscenes) then I think this is a fair thing to do.

Ultimately I want an N-Sane trilogy style remake, but I’d be happy with a remaster too I suppose 4K60FPS and Trophies would be enough. Raytracing would be nice but not necessary.

nah the ps3 games still look way to good for that type of remake. and as for the ps2 games, the 2016 remake was an one time deal for insomniac. but i do agree that remasters would be optimal
All of the future series is on ps now but for some reason tools of destruction is missing.

I wouldn't need the resolution bump but would be nice just getting the Ratchet and Clank Future series on PS4 and PS5 would be great.
It still baffles me to this day that all the jak and Daxter games got rereleased for the PS4 as ps2 classics, but not the original ratchet and clank games or even sly Cooper for that matter! Seriously Sony what are you doing? You’re sitting on big bucks here!
Honestly I'm not really mad All-4-One isn't in the thumbnail because it has graphics that are amazing especially for a R&C game and aged really well.
My theory is it has to do with reprogramming the six axis controls
Insomniac should do two Separate Ratchet and Clank Remastered Collections for the PS5 (One being the Original Trilogy + Deadlocked) (Then the Second One being the Future Saga (Tools of Destruction through Into the Nexus)
It's literally jackpot if they do a classics collection and a future collection
The Ratchet and Clank (original trilogy) remaster collection on PS2 looks more HD on my PS3 than the actual PS3 Ratchet games for some reason.
Especially because Insomniac care about Rift a Part. The simply don't patch Speedrunning strats which is huge for Developers. They really started to care about that part of the Community.
I bought a ps3 just to play the future series and my god I forgot how much FUN they are SONY PLZ RE RELEASE THEM IN 4K 60fps!!

Given that people think Nefarious has been the bad guy in every single R&C game. Yeah these need a port or remaster or something but i doubt Sony will do it cause they don't really care.

Yesss Crack in Time is fantastic.. it deserves to run @ 60 fps.
I went back to play it last year and gave up after awhile with all the frame drops and 30 max fps..
Yes spoiled, but 30fps doesnt age well with high fidelity graphics like that.. esp with ps3s obsession with bloom lol
I never had a PS3 but got a PS4 pretty near its launch. Still AMAZINGLY pissed off these games never got ported forward. If they do actually finally get around to it, I just hope they do it for both PS4 and PS5 cuz I don't have a PS5, and that'll just rub more salt in the wound.
Sony forgot and abandoned the titles that made the PS3 successful with no shame
Deadlock was buggy on ps3 soo I hope all the Rachet and clank games get ported to the ps5 if possible cause it would be soo cool to play these aging.

I want to play the OG Ratchet and Clank games and the Future series all over again but with a lack of a working PS2/PS3 I cant play them again. Its pretty simple imo to remaster at least one of the collections and it would be VERY easy money for Insomniac so why not do it? Attract that new audience that is coming in from Rift Apart and try to introduce them to the classics.
Man ratchet and clank rift apart could be my story game of the year for 2021! It's soo awesome and fun! (Also I say story game because I know battlefield 2042 is gonna be my other game of the year but that's multiplayer only so yea)

2017: Jak and Daxter were Remastered on the PS4.
2021: No remastered collection for the Future Saga
jak and daxter and sly cooper included ratchet and clank Spyro and crash bandicoot awesome and great games series

Mean you want them remade at a 1 to 1 ratio. Remasters are just ports with additional adjustments to make them run on modern hardware nicely.
I’d definitely get a port of the ps3 ratchet games solely to get the trophies for acit again

I wasn't a big fan of Tools of Destruction tbh. The difficulty spikes were so unforgiving and the checkpoints were sparse compared to the other titles. And there were several weapons i just did not use. A Crack in Time is one of my favorites if not the favorite and I wish that would get the remaster treatment

Considering that the PS2 trilogy was remastered for the PS3 and honestly played even better on the latter console, I'm surprised that the PS3 trilogy was never remastered for the PS4. The graphics of the Future trilogy still hold today, but wouldn't it be great if we had that option to play Tools of Destruction and so on with updated visuals, 4K resolution on PS4 Pro and other potential improvements. Come on Insomniac, the Future trilogy was amazing, especially Tools of Destruction, which is my favourite, why can't we have that for our PS4's instead of that unnecessary reimagining of the first game in 2016?
Its funny that I've recently started playing Tools of Destruction again XD But the one Game that I don't have in the series is Quest for Booty... I've not played that one yet and Its rather expensive to get on Ebay
Check playstation now it's on there and you can finish the game in no time flat. I think I finished it in 3 hours.

ever tried to check out some 2nd hand websites? i do this all the time for ps3 and ps2 games.. there are a lot of people who sell ps2-ps3 copies anywhere from 2 bucks to 15 bucks. or you could check out some some local game shops who sell older stuff. its somtimes more expensive but usally they will be sealed copies.

I agree with you. The Future series should be remastered while All 4 One & Full Frontal Assault could be DLCs to the remastered future series. Tools of Destruction needs to come to the PS5\PS4.

Remasters are rarely done inhouse, normally by a 3rd party. Sony just doesn't wanna do it i guess
As a publisher would you rather be forced to put all current projects on hold to have all your studios focus their entire time on remastering older titles, or outsource so that your studios could focus on creating the new projects they want
All ps3 and ps2 ratchet and clank games,the sly collection and final fantasy XIII trilogy are some games that I would like to see come to ps4 or ps5. And I don't the ps2 on ps now on want it on the legit store I don't have good wifi so I can't use ps now not mention afford it just play old games it's a good I kept my ps3 and ps2.

Imma be real with y'all, Quest for Booty was not that good in my opinion, sure it was an interlude between Tools of Destruction and Crack in Time but it's not really that important aside from Ratchet mentioning that he found another device that allowed contact with the Zoni, my main gripe was how you basically only had the full arsenal for the introduction and was limited to EVENTUALLY reclaiming the Combuster, Fusion Grenades, and the Alpha Disruptor (this one being re-purchased from the Smuggler)
