People get second jobs or several in order to pay bills and to live. I've known several employers like this. They want to control you outside of work and be able to call you when they need you but will not pay what the loss of the other job would be.
If companies paid their employees BETTER, then we wouldn’t need a 2nd, 3rd, 4th job. And what I do in my off hours is my business. As long as I come in and do the job and try to get along with management and colleagues, then there is no need to have that kind of discussion.
And we wonder why I’m considering a 60-hour workweek instead of 40. As expensive as everything is, if I want to live, every workday is a 12-hour day now.
