For a high adrenaline action movie, this is actually a great acting expo. It's a lot simpler if you think of it as each actor playing two different characters instead of two terrific actors playing each other, but I think they both did a pretty good job capturing each others' unconscious mannerisms too.
My kids and I always say lines from this movie all the time. “It’s like looking in a mirror… only not”… or “oooh weeee you’re good looking, you’re hot”….. I loved this movie, Nic Cage in the priest suit doing that weird dance makes me laugh every time! John Travolta plays an excellent baddie too! Great reaction!!
John Wu = slow motion, white doves flying, and dual weild shooting while diving sideways. These are John Wu's like that whole palm face rub thing was Archer's.
You mentioned Castor's name: in Greek/Roman mythology Castor and Pollux are twin half-brothers known together as the Dioscuri. They make up the constellation Gemini. Their mother was Leda, but they had different fathers; Castor was the mortal son of Tyndareus, the king of Sparta, while Pollux was the divine son of Zeus. Their sister was Helen of Troy.
Not only is John Woo one of my favorite directors but Face Off and Hard Target were constantly playing during my childhood. So rewatchable with great slo mo, its just fun as shit : D
Nicolas Cage is such a unique actor. He's terrible and almost unwatchable in so many films... but then he does films that are perfect for him like Leaving Las Vegas, Matchstick Men, Adaptation, Raising Arizona, and Peggy Sue Got Married. And it changes your perspective of him. Not to mention Face/Off, Con-Air, and The Rock are all just iconic 90s action films. Everyone saw these popcorn blockbusters in the theater when they came out.
I strongly suggest you watch the gun fu movies of John Woo from his 80's and early 90's Hong Kong period. High on the list are The Killer, what many consider his masterpice. It has about 130 on-screen death from gunshots. It has an extended church shootout where bodies fall like flies and actually a very touching arc on bonding and friendship. A total blast. It also started one of Woo's trademark, doves flying in the middle of a gunfight. The other one you have to see is Hard Boiled. While I consider The Killer the better film, this one has 3 extended shootouts the last one being 20 minutes long where gangsters take a whole hospital hostage and the movie has more than 300 on-screen deaths. For action fans, this movie is a must see. His other Hong Kong films worth watching are A Better Tomorrow, A Better Tomorrow 2 and Bullet in the head.
If you're impressed by stunt work in this movie, Woo's Hard Boiled and The Killer are a must see for the kinds of stunts you'll never see in your life again.
Great reaction! i find this movie over the top, but I loved this reaction! / Dude....Nicolas Cage: "Wild At Heart", "Raising Arizona", "Vampire's Kiss", "Birdy", "Moonstruck", "Valley Girl", "Kiss Of Death", "Leaving Las Vegas", "Peggy Sue Got Married", "Honeymoon In Vegas".....All of those worth seeing, all movies YOU'D do a FANTASTIC job with. DEFINITELY "Wild At Heart" and 'Raising Arizona" (which also happen to be David Lynch and Coen Brothers movies, so you'll be notching up classics by those guys as well).
I love this one and Hard Target with Jean-Claude Van Damme. I also like Peggy Sue Got Married with Cage and Kathleen Turner. It's a way different part for Cage. John Travolta and Nicholas Cage both did an amazing acting job in this one.
Good movie I remember seeing in the theater in Houston, it was at a new theater that had the stadium seating and bigger screen and better sound at the time, wow time flies, thanks again!
I loved this movie when it came out. They must have really studied each other alot. Because after they switch, Travolta acts alot like Cage and his mannerisms and same for Cage he does a great job of acting like he is Travolta
If you’re going to watch any John Woo films, you got to see his original Hong Kong action films starring Chow Yun Fat. “The Killer” (1989) “Hard Boiled” (1992) And be sure to watch them subtitled. These movies and this director have influenced everyone from Tarantino to The Matrix
When I first saw this movie I thought it was going to be cops facing off against bad guys and I was right but I didn’t think they would actually take their faces off lol
I always loved this movie since I first saw it as a kid. (Yeah I know it's rated R, but the system in my country is different. This movies is -12 here). I realized I haven't seen it in a while since I never realized CCH Pounder was in it. I discovered her in The Shield. Before then I didn't know who she was. And I've been watching this show for a few years. I also didn't recognize Thomas Jane until you mentioned his name. I guess I gotta rewatch this movie, thanks to you. Cheers from France! 🍻
So what I never understood was in the beginning why didn't he just go for a headshot he had a scope? I know the movie wouldn't have taken place like it did but if he's trying to take out Archer.. why not a headshot?... And also at the end why wasn't his family with him for the surgery?
Great movie. I am also not much into John Woo style. but this is a good movie despite of his style (I don't like the slow modes, the doves and the two guns shooting). John Woo also did Van Damm Hard Target movie (A really stupid movie with allot of slow modes :) ). Are you going to see Snake Eyes (That I saw in your disc) ? It is also a great underrated movie you should see it also.
heck yeah ill watch it if its good! lol i do like Nick , its just that some of his later in life movies arnt that good. its never really the acting i worry about from him , its more the overall movie
@@FlixTalk I love Nick Cage and most of his movies . You should also see 8mm another great underrated movie not many people know about today. Also his great National Treasure movies , The Sorcerer's Apprentice and Next,
While this movie is technically very good, it's a little too obnoxious for my taste. On a personal note: Please try to keep your videos under 40 minutes. Not all of us have the time to watch long videos. Besides, you should leave longer videos as an incentive for paying Patreon subscribers. Fun Fact: The scene of Adam listening to "Over the Rainbow" on his portable headphones was John Woo's idea and not part of the original script. Paramount Pictures refused to finance the extra scene and John Woo had to use his own money to make that happen. He was later paid back as the film turned out to be profitable.

Very quotable movie! Thank you for watching
That Nicolas Cage smile would make a good Joker
This is one of my favorite movies of all time ngl. Nick Cage and Travolta was superb!

I COULD EAT A PEACH FOR HOURS
Loved your reaction to this! I saw this in the theater with my cousin back in 1997!
I loved this movie when it came out. They must have really studied each other alot. Because after they switch, Travolta acts alot like Cage and his mannerisms and same for Cage he does a great job of acting like he is Travolta
Nic Cage is the worlds greatest actor.
I mean.. sure xD
Check out another John Woo Masterpiece with John Travolta called "Broken Arrow" with Christian Slater.

A 3? Really? 6 out 5 is more like it. Buy yolike some have suggested delve deeper into John Woo movies. They are awesome.
