    The MV Agusta 350 cc 6 was a prototype (only 2 units were manufactured) that never got to compete, it was only used in training ... the last MV Agusta 350 cc used in competition and that won many world titles had only 3 cylinders. .. the carburettor adjustment of the 6 cylinder was very complex ...

    Brings back memories of when myself and a friend went to the TT's in the seventies, it was the last year that Ago rode their.....we were at Craig ny baa (not sure about the spellings) the first sight of a bike competing for n the TT's was of Ago, someone said "Ago" within seconds he was past us, I remember him accelerating away, his back wheel searching for grip, I will never forget that sound or the smell....happy days indeed.

      Great post - it stirred up some of my own memories - My first trip was in 1981 in the post-Ago era unfortunately and only a few months after Hailwood died.
      I have two strong memories of that year;
      Late evening sidecar practice I was on the mountain - thick fog had descended and all the outfits were tootling back to Douglas. Then out of the mist the sound of an outfit on full bore could be heard and as he raced through 32nd, the sidecar wheel was way off the ground. That was Jock Taylor and Bengt Johansson.
      Second one was during a race, I was perched on the outer bank between singpost and bedstead when Joey Dunlop, using all the road literally passed by about 50cm below my feet as he laid a long strip of dark rubber.
      Happy times.....

    Ich sag nur Giacomo Agostini. Kann mich noch gut an die Zeit Ende der 70 er Jahre erinnern damals in Brünn. Die Maschine mit ihm war aus einiger Entfernung schon gut zu hören. Die ausgetragenen Rennen waren auf der früher noch längeren Strecke (um die 11 km) einwandfrei. Vor allem ein internationales Fahrerfeld Tony Mang mit seiner grünen Kawasaki, Dieter Braun, Phil Read, Barry Sheene und wie sie alle hießen. Eine schöne Zeit wars.

    No one even knew that bike existed until the late 90's (I Think) Saw it at Pukekohe when Ago came out with a bunch of crazy Italians and a container full of MV GP bikes. That bike was supposed to take on the RC Hondas when the rules were changed to 2 cylinders for 350's. So began the era of blue smokes. The sound of the MV's at full chat was something I will never forget. FYI for Ina blink below. Any engine that has such radical cam timing won't idle worth a damn. Nice it was hooked up to 6 megaphone pipes

      Die 6Zylinder - Motoren drehen höher und geben dadurch mehr Leistung ab!! Die paar Gramm mehr Gewicht wurden durch die Mehrleistung auch mehr als ausgeglichen!! Leider sind auch heute noch absolut untaugliche Leute in der FIM tätig und murksen im wahrsten Sinne des Wortes an Regularien herum, anstatt zu den altbewährten und durchaus bekannten Mitteln zu greifen, die es braucht, um das Ganze wieder interessant zu machen!! Wenn nämlich die geschaßten 2Takter mit genau so viel Benzin wie die 4Takter über die Runden kommen müssten, dann wäre Gleichstand bei Leistung und Geschwindigkeit und wir könnten den Sound von 2- und 4 Taktern ENDLICH wieder genießen!! Uns haben die doch tatsächlich 2000 erzählt, das die 4TAKTER billiger werden als die 2TAKTER, ein schönes Märchen, schaut euch an, was die Maschinen jetzt kosten und macht euch selbst ein Bild!! 🤔🙋

      You obviously have no interest in racing motorcycles. First time I heard racing bike engines warmed up was at Brands Hatch in the sixties when I was about thirteen. The sound and smell is exhilerating and could be compared to say a kid being taken by his dad to his first football match. So glad my dad had no interest in football.

      david sanders , when some idiots do this to a street bike it piss me off, in this case is a racing bike really bad at idle so has to keep the revs up 👍

    • @jamessharp9790
      @jamessharp9790 5 років тому +2

      Warming it up , I’m not sure those carbs had idle set on the entricher circuit ( Choke ) or may have only had tickle buttons . Plus the lubricants used in older engines typically more viscous , looser tolerances etc .
      They’re showboating for the video , yes but it’s not a completely unnecessary process either

      Until relatively recently racing motorcycles would deliberately not idle. For safety reasons the construction regulations stated that they had to be set up so that when the throttle was shut no fuel flowed and the engine cut out

    • @jsb5188
      @jsb5188 5 років тому +2

      @@paulmgp1975 ,That sounds even more stupid. I do not know how accurate your statement is, but that is just gosh darn foolish. All they had to do was install a cut off switch attached to your wrist, or something. Ps. These comment are not directed to you Paul. If it is in fact. It is just plain stupid, to have a ridiculous alternative to a cut off switch. Either that or the mechanic could never figure out anything about carb idle adjustments.

    • @paulmgp1975
      @paulmgp1975 5 років тому +9

      I suggest you do a little research into the subject before you start calling the manufacturers, race officials and riders like me stupid and foolish. In the era these motorcycles were being raced there were no reliable means of killing an engine without risking an almost certain failure during a race or practice session. Reliable auto electronics didn't exist. The only available technology in the 1960s and 70s was electromechanical and the amount of high frequency vibration experienced on racing motorcycles of the day stood a very high chance of shaking an electromechanical switch to pieces.

    • @jsb5188
      @jsb5188 5 років тому +2

      @@paulmgp1975 Well I stand my ground. No wonder those vehicles are now extinct. There need not be Electromechanical switches of any sort. A little pull switch would've done the trick, regardless of any shaking. Electricity was invented long before the 60's. So if you belong in that pool, hey, facts are facts. Lastly, you're not the only one who has been in that "stupid" spot. We've all been there. Why haven't you not heard that phrase "why din't I think of that"

    • @paulmgp1975
      @paulmgp1975 5 років тому +6

      When you have designed built or raced a 1960s 1970s racing motorcycle please respond with a sensible reply. A pull switch is electromechanical and they were NOT reliable. All I can say is that I doubt that your solitary personal opinion, from a 2019 perspective, out weighs the collective wisdom of the entire global design, manufacturing and international sporting governing bodies of the time. Regardless they were the rules. When you can produce evidence that the collective intellectual power of the European, Japanese and USA motorcycle (push rod OHV V twins???) industries were misguided please feel free to comment. Otherwise dream on. I will not waste any more time on this issue. As a very wise man said "Don't argue with an fool.." Have a nice day. @@jsb5188
