I have been looking for ages for a great artist that has hooded eyes like mine...FOUND HIM! I love your tutorials and how you explain things that most other MUA's forget. Thanks so much. Love the channel!
by FAR the best tutorial on-line that I've come across. I'm an older woman, and just needed to refresh my technique for eye-shadow application. Very, very helpful - will be watching more!
Awesome tutorial " thanks for answering my how to use a 217 brush. Can't wait to try it out! As for anyone else who is commenting on his sexuality or preference, or that fact he's wearing make up, he's not wearing it he's simply showing viewers how to apply using his own eye as the canvas. So if your not here to watch tutorials , than keep your mouth shut . Damn. I don't know how many comments I've seen saying oh he's gay , he wears make up . Blah blah blah . He merely sharing his knowledge on how to apply make up. He is a make up artist.
Hi Wayne, Love your tutorials. Great tips. I found you through Lana and I love the tip about not outlining the cupids bow on the lips. It DOES make you look younger when you go straight across. What a difference!!!!
I bought a blending brush only few month ago. Before that I used flat brushes in two different sizes and I think that these two brushes are really enough to get the eye makeup done, the blending and pencil brushes only makes the application easier.
I'm learning so much more from men on applying make-up than I do from all those female guru's :p I just love your wiggle technique! Thank you so much ^^
wow you just helped me SO MUCH with this tutorial! i have hooded eyes and the way you apply the shadows shows a perfect way to put a crease color on so that it shows! thanks :)
Thank you for showing a tutorial like this. I am new at wearing eye makeup and this is just what I needed to practice my technique, so now in my bathroom it's me, you, and the laptop all together so I can practice. :*) Cool beans!
Thanks for providing this video! I'm actually making a small starter list of MAC brushes to purchase and this definitely makes me feel confident in putting the 217 on my list. :-)
This is wonderful! I did not know using a flesh colored pencil makes the eyes brighter/wider. I always thought black did that. I also like Matte eyeshadow, especially for work.
WAYNE!! You got me addicted to the Givenchy Phenomen! The one I was using was the Givenchy Eye Fly, it is the same formula, only a different brush. Try that someday!
What a lovely color combination. And thank you for explaining what the windshield wiper motion is! I've been confused about that for quite a while. Can you show us some ways to use hints of bold color in an otherwise neutral look?
I've tried the eye brushes and the two bigger eye brushes look and behave just like this! I'm out of work but following Wayne and Pixiewoo I've now got a few nice bits, good brushes and my m.up is TRANSFORMED!
@Anadaslu No, baby wipes typically don't have oil in them, just a wee bit of cleanser. I use baby wipes to remove my make-up, much cheaper than other wipes out there. I just get the ones that have no fragrance and are made for sensitive skin. That way you're covered. As well they aren't so moist to cause your brush to be soaking wet when done using it. Hope that clarifies for you. Cheers!
I bought the 217 today. I had one years and years ago, lost it and didn't even care for it but decided to get this one instead of the 239. I hope it's good - will test
@radhasandii There are a number of different companies that make this brush but MAC has one the 212 flat definer brush. If you're in the states, if memory serves me correctly, I believe Sonia Kashuk from Target also makes one. If you're in the UK looking for one, I've heard it referred to as a pushliner brush. Hope that helps. Cheers!
Hi! What exactly is a hooded eye? I never really had an eye lid....even when I was younger. Now that I am 58, well, you know how that goes. Is it more about the eye drooping at the corner and going down or the crease of the eye lid folding over the lid? Thanks! Michelle
Hey Wayne and everybody else, The 217 is also great for applying blush in a pinch. I am on a tight-tight-TIGHT budget and I use the 217 for blush. It works just fine!
Thanks for taking the trouble to add plenty of written information, I always find I look back to it and make the odd note or two, I'm too busy following the techniques to remember to take them from the video :-)
@Anadaslu I use baby shampoo. Never using baby oil because then it would need to be removed with a second cleaning. I believe there are other companies that have brush cleaner. But the baby shampoo does the job well enough. Good luck!
Wow!!! your'e amazing!!! I bought a kit mac Brushes but I don't know how to use some ones... and this video really help me a lot!!! can you do more of this?? :D Kisses from Mexico!!!
I've seen some people, even "gurus" on youtube that when they use this technique to apply their crease color - too much of the crease gets on their lid so that when they look down or close their eyes it looks like a strip of white on their lid because the crease color is on most of their lid. The lighter lid color is a "a stripe of white" just above the lash line.
@GingaSlappa1 I think I will definitely try this! One more thing, hope it's not too much, how do you clean your brushes? I do the baby oil/baby soap thing but I think now my brushes retains some oil in them. Only other choice here is the MAC brush cleanser, but it's kinda expensive and I get obsessed and run through them really fast :/
@lumasmel it just means that your eyes are really close together. eyes that are farther apart from each other are wide-set eyes. generally, you have normally set eyes if the distance between your eyes is the same as the length of one of your eyes. if the distance is shorter you have close set eyes, and if they are farther apart than the length of one eye, they are considered wide set usually and its not a stupid question!! =)
I have been looking for ages for a great artist that has hooded eyes like mine...FOUND HIM! I love your tutorials and how you explain things that most other MUA's forget. Thanks so much. Love the channel!

great video you are really talented! :D
Hi Wayne! Love your matte, rounded aesthetic. Does the MAC reflects glitter also prevent that scaly look as well as MUFE Diamond Powder?
I find i use my Sigma travel..way more than i use the mac 217...I prefer it...Thanks for sharing Wayne!~
I love your work. X from Melbourne Australia
Thx Goss.Love ya!
I've never used a 217 for concealer! Thank you for the tip!
Wow!!! your'e amazing!!!
I bought a kit mac Brushes but I don't know how to use some ones... and this video really help me a lot!!!
can you do more of this?? :D
Kisses from Mexico!!!
would you consider this brush to be soft? because it looks kind of "scratchy" but i doubt it is!

where did you get the diamound powder from?
How do you clean up your brushes between colors?
what push liner brush did you use in the video?
Fantastic !!!!thank so much
