i finished reading this book over a month ago and i'm still going and cross referencing, researching claims and theories he puts forward ,getting hold off other books /comics/graphic novels that i would otherwise never pick up , i was always a comic fan but never a huge grant morrison fan however this book is insanely clever and shows just how broad his intellect ranges , cannot say how much i have enjoyed reading this particular book and it really has

I love Grant Morrison. I love his work. Met him once at a convention. Nice guy. But that John Lennon song made me wanna move closer to the equator and buy some firewood.

That's the Sekhmet Hypothesis developed by Iain Spence in 1995, with influence from Robert Anton Wilson and Peter Carroll. If you search "lineone Iain Spence" his website is the third link.

led me on to try other genres of comics that i would never have given a chance before - to be quite a glaring omission, but then the book was just choc full of intricate and accurate detail over the entire history of comic art that i know he can't have possibly put every book in , even if i do think he is far more spider jerusalem than king mob ;)

Actually, to get technical, the first super hero is Sun-Gods personified in antiquity. If we're talking about the contemporary hero that of Joseph Campbell description, I'd say Gilgamesh of ancient Sumeria.
    True Believer.

If Zack Snyder ever do a sequel to his upcoming Superman-movie, I hope that he will cast Grant Morrison in the role as Lex Luthor. He got the perfect baldness for that part. And the scotish accent? Well, that never were a problem for Scrooge McDuck, were it? And Grant Morrison deserves recognition. A Serious House On A Serious Earth is the greatest work of art ever accomplished by any breathing, living being. And no, that's not only thanks to Dave McKean.

Dude, the audio on this needs to be remixed DESPERATELY. I have to turn everything up full blast to barely hear what Grant is saying, and it's only coming out one speaker.

Ah, and did you read it knowing the full context of work leading up to it? To understand it you have to read Final Crisis and all the issues before. It's trippy and I get some of the criticism, but the fact is that he does his best to make every single issue memorable and exciting and intriguing, and it really does pay off. RIP wasn't meant as a seminal GN, just another arc in a long saga. It's DC who made it seem like you could read it on its own, which is false marketing

I love Grant Morrison, but if you think A Serious House on A Serious Earth is the greatest work of art ever accomplished, then I can only assume you've only ever read Batman comics.

Can you name "the greatest work of art ever accomplished?" I'm not arguing with you, I just want something to read.

Morrison is like a really sharp version of Karl Pilkington,or maybe Karl is his inferior clone who for some reason has a Manchester( I probably misspelled that) accent

Superheroes did not, infact start with Superman. Hell they didn't even start with the Phantom which came before Supes. The first Real superhero would happen to be The Golden Bat. And no, that's not another name for batman.
