When i read some of these comments here i am so happy that i do not care at all about "market prices" and "trends", just loving good music and good sounding records.

Those "original" Beatles records in the closet were re-issues from the 70's and early 80's. Nice collection but all the stuff he has is very common and not worth what he thinks it is.

QUIT TOUCHING THE GROOVES WITH YOUR FINGERS!! There may be no scratches on those records, but with the way he was handling them, there's bound to be plenty of fingerprints.

You had to be "that guy". He's selling them, you're not buying them - so what the hell do you care? If you do buy one just run it through that $5000 ultra sonic cleaner, goofy. I'm glad he didn't have a Crosley laying around because then you'd be acting all high and mighty about how bad they are. We get it, you are the Audiophile god. "Im jUsT tRyInG tO eDuCatE." Derp. Quit being a hard on.

When I bought my vinyl, I had no thought whatsoever of their future value , I got them for the music , played them , shared them and enjoyed them for the music ……… this reminds me of a saying my mum used about people that ……………. Knew the price of everything , and the value of nothing

He seemed like a nice guy. Was probably more excited about sharing his collection with someone than actually selling lol...which I totally get actually. The thing that always stands out to me when buying (as I sometimes buy for a shop I work at as well as my personal collection) is when people immediately start talking about how "rare" their collection is. Like here when he showed that Rockin' With The Astronauts in his closest. He's pumped because it's "rare" and he has 2 of them, but its a record that regularly sells for $5. So you offer him $1 or $2 for it and he is probably going to feel insulted lol. Not to mention how he was saying at 8:23 how everything was "mint" and wear on the those spine were just jumping out at you. Again, cool that he has a collection he loves and I wish him nothing but more and more joy from it. It's just you kinda know up front those will be hard collection to buy.

Those vinyl single with immaculate piicture sleeves are a gold mine. If you come across any mid sixties obscure rock bands, buy them, I'm sure you know of all genres the collectors of this time period cannot be beat with jaz and early rap coming in a distant 2nd and 3rd

There worth what someone's will to pay, no more no less. Black stereo box set can be had for around 500 and mono set around 1000 for very good plus, nm or mint maybe a few hundred more. But again my first statement stands.

I admire the orderliness of this collection. But the market-place value may be very different from how we value (or overvalue) beloved items from our personal collections.
To get beyond emotion & to learn the the real current market-value of items one needs to study the market-place rather than one's own feelings.
One example: An anecdote about an expert's visit from "years ago" does not qualify as market analysis.
Another red flag about the gentleman's confusion is him calling records "MINT" that we can see for ourselves (around the 8:12 mark) are in LESS THAN MINT covers (edge wear, corner wear). Maybe the platters themselves are in MINT condition even if some of the covers are beat-up. If so, say so. The difference between the vinyl & the covers that house the vinyl are a real distinction for many collectors. And accuracy inspires trust-esp. when one is claiming expertise.

A couple of years ago I bought a really clean copy of Let it Bleed. With the original liner sleeve. $15. And a like new copy of Axis Bold As Love by Hendrix French m the late 1960s but it cost $65. If you put the two together it works out to $40 each. I originally bought Let it bleed in 1975 new for $10. So it’s not bad.

@@TravelersAntiquesEstateSales Nice collection to find all at once but, as a reseller, I wouldn't pay $25,000 for it. I've been selling 45 rpm records on eBay for 15 years, and what I used to get $6 for I now get $3 or $4. And prices seem to be dropping slowly but surely. In 2010 I sold M- copies of "Paperback Writer" and "Yellow Submarine" to one buyer for $40 each; now I would get $15 to $20 for each. There's a glut of records out there, but everybody who wants to sell their collection thinks it's the 1990s. I'm glad I sold my collection of 45s when I did.

I see lots of skewed stories with doing estates. My most common thing I run into is "emotional value" of a collection.
People put years into things and it unfortunately doesn't always match up to what something will sell for in a current market.

@@TravelersAntiquesEstateSales And what is saddest of all is much of the Rock & Pop music between 1954 and 1964 is shrinking in value, now being several generations removed from people today. I see the prices many “oldies but goodies” acts are really bringing at this time, and it’s nowhere near what genres like heavy metal, punk and 70s funk are commanding. I’m finding much of the oldies acts in budget bins and dollar shelves now…I’ve found artists and titles that were in protective plastic in the 70s/80s now tossed out for peanuts. Facts!
