Before you people say "Tomb Raider is a copy of Uncharted/ Last of Us.", Tomb Raider is the original; Uncharted is known as the "new Tomb Raider", and just because it has crafting elements, doesn't make it like the Last of Us. In fact, I believe the pre he remake of the last Tomb Raider game had upgradable crafting, and it came out before the Last of Us.
I believe people (I included ) say that the rebooted TR is much like Uncharted because it seems to be too much of a "coincidence" that there are so many "Uncharted moments" in the games now. Sure TR as a brand was created before Uncharted but There's no denying that the reboots would be the way they are if it weren't for Uncharted (mainly UC2)
+Kurama Arctica Although I'm a huge Tomb Raider fan, I would say that is very inaccurate. Tomb Raider is older, but the reboot is definitely more of a copy of Uncharted. The original Tomb Raider, which I absolutely love, is nothing like the reboot that plays like uncharted.
But you're forgetting that the tomb raider franchise was rebooted in 2013 and probably took a lot of inspiration from the uncharted games to get to their standard.

Cazi Fallout has some female and trans NPCs so she wouldn't want to risk killing them. Tomb Raider is 100% white cis male enemies. The perfect game for her!
I bought the PS4 version of the game and finished it yesterday, and I must say it's one of the best games I've ever played, I felt so badass with all the new combat and stealth mechanics and the tools for climbing are awesome, I also loved the game's story because it is very similar to previous Tomb Raider games (Ana is literally Natla and Konstantin has similarities with Larson) also Blood Ties is flooded with references to previous games 😍 Also Endurance mode is hardcore af it is designed to kill you at every camp you enter and the crypts have plenty of traps, the only thing I would change is that the traps are easily avoidable and I expected more traps during the main campaing. Sorry if this comment is too long, but this game is extraordinary and every detail counted for me💓
I've played all tomb raiders and this one was a fun ride for sure!! although true TR fans will agree that we need more puzzles than fights .. still a gorgeous game, already waiting for the next installation
It feels better than those very old PS1 games anyhow. It was even more secondary there. It works, it's OK. Jumps puzzles and exploration is why you'd play.
This,Witcher 3 and MGS 5 are hands down game of the year. This game had a nice story,high action set pieces,beautiful soundtrack,gorgeous visuals and had tight fun gameplay. Sony fans are missing out on more and more every passing day, gonna get this on PC as well.
Played U4 and thought it was epic as hell, but after playing ROTTR on pc it blew my min. The actual gameplay and story make the Tomb Raider a much better game.
Hell no. I’ve played both games but Uncharted 4 gives you an extremely rich story and a beautiful closure to an amazing journey. Plus , I like how the protagonist in Uncharted is a goofy treasure jointer with jokes - on the other hand, lc is a badass protagonist. I would compare her with Chloe and UC: The list legacy

Got the ps4 version for 35 bucks on black Friday weekend. Beat the game in less than a week. So addicting. 9/10. In my goty contention but dishonored 2 edges it out.
Torstein Jensen If you love stealth like me Dishonored 2 but if not then I'm not sure you'd like it as much. You don't need to stealth in it but if you don't imo it just ruins the experience. The most fun about dishonored games is stealthing around the whole map and exploring every nook and cranny because believe me Dishonored is not open world and it's more level based but there is a ton of exploration and secrets in every level. Tomb raider will probably be more fun if you don't like stealth and prefer murdering everyone. Great exploration and maps are filled with so much to do it's insane. And the puzzles are so fun and some are very difficult.

Poor tomb raider. It's such a shame that it'll lose out on so many sales this year due to its timed exclusivity and having to compete against Fallout 4. I hope MS made up for it with shit ton of money but I highly doubt they can.
+Nelson W. the game is being released 3 separate times on 3 different platforms, at 3 different times during the year. thats like 3 launches and sales boosts. it will make those sales back, and some, lol. ((3)) game launches....think about it. splitting some sales with Fallout 4 during the holiday season(where it will probably still get brought as a gift or present) is not a big deal. its a real good marketing strategy. stop damage control and just enjoy your year long wait lol.

I finished that game today on survivor difficulty and i must say that this game is incredible. The last one "Tomb rider" was extremely good but they go even forward for one level. Graphics are mind blowing, story is f***ing awsome, gameplay, mechanics, skill points and upgrades and other stuff are also awsome. I also notice that a game has ability of choosing on how you can kill an enemy and that is a big plus. There are still some bugs like crashing (1 time), can stucking when you thow empty (1 in a 100 times), enemy boss Konstantin disappeared (only once) so i had to reload checkpoint - but overall those were little problems :D. Only thing that bothered me is weapon switching, and bow switching to fire arrows, granade arrows etc. it was hard and it took too much time to switch. Enemy bots were not easy to defeat especially deathless guards and I like that because a good game must be a good challenge. So overall my rating is 9,5/10 - extremly good game worth buying ;)
I've always been a TR fan but as a PS4 owner with access to Uncharted, I thought this wouldn't be that great but boy was I wrong. Uncharted 4 is arguably the better game but I feel like I actually got more enjoyment out of Rise of The Tomb Raider
Don't think that UC is the better game because its hyped. I personally like TR reboot games way better than UC, especially rise of the TR. And that's because they are way more open for exploration
I own both consoles. To date, I'm happier with the X1 lineup and I use that console far more. Just my opinion/observation. Halo 5 Forza 5 Firza 6 Rise of the TR Titanfall Sunset Overdrive Some of my favorites. I haven't seen the same volume of AAA exclusives, or timed exclusives, on PS4 yet.

@@stephencroft1612 Nathan is funny and witty in addition to his serious moments. Lara is dull by comparison. Even the side characters in Uncharted are more interesting than Lara. Elena, Sully, Sam, Nadine, Chloe are all way better characters.

My big turn off with these games is how much it becomes a 3rd person shooter. The originals were more about puzzle solving and "tomb raiding" but you're spending long portions of the game killing waves of enemies now. I always felt that the Tomb Raider games from around a decade ago put in too many action sequences but at least the game was segmented so you did a good amount of exploring. I haven't played Rise but the 2013 reboot disappointed me in that regard though everyone in the video game community seemingly couldn't stop talking about how great it was and I couldn't, for the life of me, understand why. People seem to compare this to Uncharted a lot and are at war as to which one is better so I'll give my two cents. Tomb Raider, at least the 2013 reboot that I played, is mostly an Uncharted clone with an angsty female lead and uninteresting characters. Uncharted is "fun" in terms of the atmosphere and more of an action title with interesting characters whereas I don't think they know what direction they're trying to go with the newer Tomb Raider. It used to be a more tongue-in-cheek atmosphere in the past but I'm just not into what they're doing now with it. That's my opinion at least. I hope they make Tomb Raider games less like Uncharted and the 2013 reboot and more like the older ones but with more refined gameplay. Action sequences and shooting are nice but they went overboard with it. I'm hoping they make the shooting stuff more sporadic. End of rant
Lara in 2013 Definitive Edition is way hotter than Lara in the 20th anniversary edition. Face and body. I appreciate the conservative approach they took compared to past iterations, but definitive edition was perfect. Also, Rise was a perfect game up until the geothermal valley. Then it kinda fell apart story-wise and felt like they rushed the ending while simultaneously taking too god damn long to just reach the end.

Uncharted is clunky and feels to have no weight to the game play. The graphics are nowhere near as good as TR. When I played Uncharted it really felt like I was playing the ACTIVISON version of Tomb Raider, it's like Grand Theft Auto to True Crime Streets Of L.A.
I love Tomb Raider. Will wait for the full version on PS4 that includes all the DLC. Crystal Dynamics screwed up by releasing this now. They should have delayed it till around Feb

Just finished playing ROTTR on PC. i enjoyed the game very much. It's just that it's weird Lara was stuck with only bow and arrow early in the game, when logically she could have picked the guns/rifles from dead enemies. I'm not pretty fond of using bow and arrows, so I did pretty much badly early in the game, at least until the part where Lara picks up her first revolver gun.
I got this and the season pass at last year's Steam summer sale. Great game, although it won't really surprise you if you played the 2011 game. The graphics are amazing, with probably the most realistic skin tones I've seen in a game. I'm glad the world features more animal life than in the last game. The issue I have with all of these types of 'treasure hunter' stories, be it Tomb Raider or Uncharted or even Indiana Jones is that they all must involve some sort of supernatural element to justify all the casual killing these heroes do. Without some 'save-the-world' twist, they'd just be slaughtering people for the sake of some mystical trinket. It's been said before Nathan Drake is a mass murderer. So is Lara Croft and Indiana Jones. Because movies/videogames. That said, I'm a big fan of these games and can't wait to pick up a PS Pro to play Uncharted 4.
For me i rate this game 8/10. I didnt expect that this game is so great. The graphics is amazing, but this is a underrated game. I think this has a chance of winning best game of the year than fallout 4

I agree. Weapons like Assult rifle and shotguns are weak since the range and fire rate just isn't that good. But using her other weapons like pistol, axe and Bow is amazing. No i haven't played this yet, all though i'm dying to play it. The combat is almost the same as the 2013 version ( which i have), but here with more features. CAN'T WAIT!
I beat Rise in 2.5 days I'd est. about a full day of game play time. I'm bummed that it wasn't longer but I'm more accustomed to Mmos so I love longevity. Still with that being said I loved every minute of the game. It's so good that it wouldn't have mattered when I beat the game I still would be wanting more. It's the most phone I've had gaming in a long time (though I don't play many titles, so I'm easy to please...Gta and 2k) I've never played a Fallout game and after watching a few walk throughs I'm glad I brought Rise.

I kinda feel this person is a little biased as I love both combat and puzzle games however she clearly doesnt like combat games , yes I realise it is uninspired and games like batman do a better job at stealth and games like cod do better at shooting this games unique areas allow a sense of relive after each encounter yes some part can be annoying however I like the combat and the puzzles are put in a very well balance with each other creating a game that doesn’t feel like just doing the same thing over and over

I am way late but I just finished playing the 2013 Tomb Raider and I'm glad I am not the only one who feels they should have substituted the numerous enemy hordes with more puzzles and problem solving. Overall, it was a fantastic game and I cannot wait for the PC release of Rise of the Tomb Raider!

I personally think there was a fine amount of puzzles, I spent hours upon hours in tombs. my biggest issue (and this is pure nitpicking) is that in combat sometimes there are documents to read and that kind of breaks up the action. but the documents are really interesting and I listened to every single one. other than that this game is excellent 😂

As a fan of the original Tomb Raider game I'm pretty happy with this effort. The language skills are a beautiful way to layer some reality into the universe; the sense of wonder from the original seems to be sporadic in this game but it's there. My only gripe is the combat, It's playable and well integrated but I would like more puzzles, adventure and isolation. Alone in the wild will hopefully be Lara vs The Wild and not Lara vs The Wild and special military generics.

I bought the PS4 version of the game and finished it yesterday, and I must say it's one of the best games I've ever played, I felt so badass with all the new combat and stealth mechanics and the tools for climbing are awesome, I also loved the game's story because it is very similar to previous Tomb Raider games (Ana is literally Natla and Konstantin has similarities with Larson) also Blood Ties is flooded with references to previous games 😍 Also Endurance mode is hardcore af it is designed to kill you at every camp you enter and the crypts have plenty of traps, the only thing I would change is that the traps are easily avoidable and I expected more traps during the main campaing. Sorry if this comment is too long, but this game is extraordinary and every detail counted for me💓

The combat in this game has so more than tools than any Uncharted game.
It feels better than those very old PS1 games anyhow. It was even more secondary there. It works, it's OK. Jumps puzzles and exploration is why you'd play.

This,Witcher 3 and MGS 5 are hands down game of the year. This game had a nice story,high action set pieces,beautiful soundtrack,gorgeous visuals and had tight fun gameplay. Sony fans are missing out on more and more every passing day, gonna get this on PC as well.
Played U4 and thought it was epic as hell, but after playing ROTTR on pc it blew my min. The actual gameplay and story make the Tomb Raider a much better game.

Hell no. I’ve played both games but Uncharted 4 gives you an extremely rich story and a beautiful closure to an amazing journey. Plus , I like how the protagonist in Uncharted is a goofy treasure jointer with jokes - on the other hand, lc is a badass protagonist. I would compare her with Chloe and UC: The list legacy

Torstein Jensen If you love stealth like me Dishonored 2 but if not then I'm not sure you'd like it as much. You don't need to stealth in it but if you don't imo it just ruins the experience. The most fun about dishonored games is stealthing around the whole map and exploring every nook and cranny because believe me Dishonored is not open world and it's more level based but there is a ton of exploration and secrets in every level.
Tomb raider will probably be more fun if you don't like stealth and prefer murdering everyone. Great exploration and maps are filled with so much to do it's insane. And the puzzles are so fun and some are very difficult.

I finished that game today on survivor difficulty and i must say that this game is incredible. The last one "Tomb rider" was extremely good but they go even forward for one level. Graphics are mind blowing, story is f***ing awsome, gameplay, mechanics, skill points and upgrades and other stuff are also awsome. I also notice that a game has ability of choosing on how you can kill an enemy and that is a big plus. There are still some bugs like crashing (1 time), can stucking when you thow empty (1 in a 100 times), enemy boss Konstantin disappeared (only once) so i had to reload checkpoint - but overall those were little problems :D. Only thing that bothered me is weapon switching, and bow switching to fire arrows, granade arrows etc. it was hard and it took too much time to switch. Enemy bots were not easy to defeat especially deathless guards and I like that because a good game must be a good challenge. So overall my rating is 9,5/10 - extremly good game worth buying ;)
I've always been a TR fan but as a PS4 owner with access to Uncharted, I thought this wouldn't be that great but boy was I wrong. Uncharted 4 is arguably the better game but I feel like I actually got more enjoyment out of Rise of The Tomb Raider

But I'd still take TR over it.

My big turn off with these games is how much it becomes a 3rd person shooter. The originals were more about puzzle solving and "tomb raiding" but you're spending long portions of the game killing waves of enemies now. I always felt that the Tomb Raider games from around a decade ago put in too many action sequences but at least the game was segmented so you did a good amount of exploring. I haven't played Rise but the 2013 reboot disappointed me in that regard though everyone in the video game community seemingly couldn't stop talking about how great it was and I couldn't, for the life of me, understand why.
People seem to compare this to Uncharted a lot and are at war as to which one is better so I'll give my two cents. Tomb Raider, at least the 2013 reboot that I played, is mostly an Uncharted clone with an angsty female lead and uninteresting characters. Uncharted is "fun" in terms of the atmosphere and more of an action title with interesting characters whereas I don't think they know what direction they're trying to go with the newer Tomb Raider. It used to be a more tongue-in-cheek atmosphere in the past but I'm just not into what they're doing now with it. That's my opinion at least.
I hope they make Tomb Raider games less like Uncharted and the 2013 reboot and more like the older ones but with more refined gameplay. Action sequences and shooting are nice but they went overboard with it. I'm hoping they make the shooting stuff more sporadic.

Lara in 2013 Definitive Edition is way hotter than Lara in the 20th anniversary edition. Face and body. I appreciate the conservative approach they took compared to past iterations, but definitive edition was perfect. Also, Rise was a perfect game up until the geothermal valley. Then it kinda fell apart story-wise and felt like they rushed the ending while simultaneously taking too god damn long to just reach the end.

Uncharted is clunky and feels to have no weight to the game play. The graphics are nowhere near as good as TR. When I played Uncharted it really felt like I was playing the ACTIVISON version of Tomb Raider, it's like Grand Theft Auto to True Crime Streets Of L.A.

I have to say this is probably my favorite game this year. It is really great.
Just finished playing ROTTR on PC. i enjoyed the game very much. It's just that it's weird Lara was stuck with only bow and arrow early in the game, when logically she could have picked the guns/rifles from dead enemies.
I'm not pretty fond of using bow and arrows, so I did pretty much badly early in the game, at least until the part where Lara picks up her first revolver gun.
Absolutely love this game, such a shame it went a little under the radar amongst all the other huge games.

I got this and the season pass at last year's Steam summer sale. Great game, although it won't really surprise you if you played the 2011 game. The graphics are amazing, with probably the most realistic skin tones I've seen in a game. I'm glad the world features more animal life than in the last game. The issue I have with all of these types of 'treasure hunter' stories, be it Tomb Raider or Uncharted or even Indiana Jones is that they all must involve some sort of supernatural element to justify all the casual killing these heroes do. Without some 'save-the-world' twist, they'd just be slaughtering people for the sake of some mystical trinket. It's been said before Nathan Drake is a mass murderer. So is Lara Croft and Indiana Jones. Because movies/videogames. That said, I'm a big fan of these games and can't wait to pick up a PS Pro to play Uncharted 4.

I agree. Weapons like Assult rifle and shotguns are weak since the range and fire rate just isn't that good. But using her other weapons like pistol, axe and Bow is amazing. No i haven't played this yet, all though i'm dying to play it. The combat is almost the same as the 2013 version ( which i have), but here with more features. CAN'T WAIT!

I beat Rise in 2.5 days I'd est. about a full day of game play time. I'm bummed that it wasn't longer but I'm more accustomed to Mmos so I love longevity. Still with that being said I loved every minute of the game. It's so good that it wouldn't have mattered when I beat the game I still would be wanting more. It's the most phone I've had gaming in a long time (though I don't play many titles, so I'm easy to please...Gta and 2k) I've never played a Fallout game and after watching a few walk throughs I'm glad I brought Rise.

I kinda feel this person is a little biased as I love both combat and puzzle games however she clearly doesnt like combat games , yes I realise it is uninspired and games like batman do a better job at stealth and games like cod do better at shooting this games unique areas allow a sense of relive after each encounter yes some part can be annoying however I like the combat and the puzzles are put in a very well balance with each other creating a game that doesn’t feel like just doing the same thing over and over

I am way late but I just finished playing the 2013 Tomb Raider and I'm glad I am not the only one who feels they should have substituted the numerous enemy hordes with more puzzles and problem solving. Overall, it was a fantastic game and I cannot wait for the PC release of Rise of the Tomb Raider!
If trying to make a point for how good it looks, you should've showed footage of it on a PC.

Play the Uncharted-trioligy yourself and you will see it's far more superior then this shallow clone.

You people have way too much time to worry about what other people rate something. If you like something then enjoy it, and I don't think 9 is a bad score.
I personally think there was a fine amount of puzzles, I spent hours upon hours in tombs. my biggest issue (and this is pure nitpicking) is that in combat sometimes there are documents to read and that kind of breaks up the action. but the documents are really interesting and I listened to every single one.
other than that this game is excellent 😂

As a fan of the original Tomb Raider game I'm pretty happy with this effort. The language skills are a beautiful way to layer some reality into the universe; the sense of wonder from the original seems to be sporadic in this game but it's there. My only gripe is the combat, It's playable and well integrated but I would like more puzzles, adventure and isolation. Alone in the wild will hopefully be Lara vs The Wild and not Lara vs The Wild and special military generics.
