A very well put together video! I never had much issue with key quests but I see why those are more annoying to most players. Especially the train. I still adore YKW2 for how hard it gets and making a defind competitive format.
While Yo-Kai Watch 2 has its shortcomings with some key quests feeling unnecessary and backtracking taking place a lot, it still took what the 1st game did well and improved upon it. Plus the amount of post game content is astounding. And then Psychic Specters adds even more content on top of that. It’s not my favorite game in the series, but I definitely consider it a great game and would recommend it to anyone. Specifically the Psychic Specters version since it’s the definitive way to play YW2.
I always liked key quests it actually made sure I unlocked fusion and other important things before the final chapter like in one(my only quest related complaint is cap'n crash... 'n' burn now that I hate with a passion but nevertheless I still finished it and almost everything else in the game 3 may be objectively the best but 2 will always be my favorite)
My problem is that people act as if key quests were only in 2, in yo Kai watch 1 you had to to the watch upgrades and if you didn’t know the plot, it was a pain
Honestly I’ve heard that the post game is really good but the jump to the final boss restricting 99% of the map has honestly kinda ruined it as I can’t get to the post game
One problem i have with ykw2 is mostly lack of fast travel in old springdale. I agree with the repetitiveness of key quests, but I have to say ykw3 makes it feel more rewarding in a way. My favorite key quest in ykw3 is Dr Maddiman's Key quest (Doing the whole storyline for Dr Maddiman actually made me cry). Although my 2nd favorites are the Y file final chapter and Yo Kai's circus one lash hurrah.
The jump from yokai-watch 1 to yokai-watch 2 is incredible, the story not only is way better than the previous one but it also ads a lot of plot to the franchise, my favourite part of this game though is the yokai-watch model zero, I really like the MoxieSoultimates and I also don't think they're useless (some of them), and the poking for hearts feature is just what everyone wanted, befriending yokai IS still very hard but that helps a lot. I'm not very bothered by the key quests but I do think they're not necessary... Oh and great video by the way! I'm new to your channel but I'm enjoying your videos a lot, it's always nice to see more Yokai-Watch content and new Yokai-Watch content creators rise up.
I envy you having friends who play Yo-Kai Watch.
