Glad to stumble across this - I sang with the OSP choir a few years ago when over from America and heard tales of an old LP! Wonderful place with a great appreciation for music and musicians.
It was super to come across this - the best recording of Shaw's 'All things bright and beautiful' (at 15:42) that I have come across - played at the right speed too - Shaw hated slow hymns. I loved the orchestration and its interpretation of the words. Thanks for posting.
@@ArchiveofRecordedChurchMusic I suspect you're wrong, I was singing there, and playing the organ, before being Director of Music for over 25 yrs, so I'm not quite sure what you're referring to; but would be happy to discuss it with you. (les.shankland@gmail.com). Incidentally, Alistair Pow died three years ago, but his legacy can still be felt in areas of church music throughout Scotland.
The rendition of Onward Christian Solders is so overwhelmingly joyful. The resounding sense of victory and triumph is resurrection of the soul.

Delighted you have come across the LP!
R.I.P Alistair you taught me to sing and play

I was 9 when I sang on this 41 years ago, that means I’m 😱🤣
Fergus: I'm on it too. The (barely audible) bass soloist in the Gloria...
I Can't believe this is on UA-cam! i did most of the orchestrations, and played the organ (not terribly brilliantly) for the anthem accompaniments.
The thing I remember most was all the cabling.
When were we on TV?
My home town! Great content!
Wonderful! I've been looking for a copy of this for years. Thank you for uploading it
They issued another LP in1982 called 'Lift High the Cross' but I have not been successful in tracking down a copy
