Rick, great video! I've been experiencing popping noises in-between tracks with the SU-1. Have you had this issue with yours? I've tried different power cables, wall plus, and a battery pack. Also switched out to other DACs and confirmed it's the SU-1. Thank you!

Could you guys tell me if the volume on the K11 also controls the rca preouts on the back? I’m asking because the optical signal from my Samsung tv is fairly quiet and I’d like to use the K11 as a pre amp improve the signal to my sound system. Thank you
Hello, my name is Dmytro, I am your subscriber from Ukraine, I really like your presentation of the material, I like it, no offense, but listening to your sound test recordings on studio monitors, I did not like the sound quality, to put it mildly)))))) for test recordings over time, you need to purchase 2 stereo directional microphones to record HI-RES files. Thank you for understanding) And I wish you development on the channel and in life!
These are great but Fiio need to sort their customer service communications skills on the global market. The Firmware updates for these units and others in Fiio range are notoriously hard to implement particularly in Europe with language barriers within the software. I had to return a BTR13 due to the impossibility of implementing a critical firmware update for the EQ.
@@RickRuizAudio The updates could probably be done eventually. One review on Amazon UK said that he had to re write all the Chinese language translating into English then make a new folder for it so that windows would recognise the software for the upgrade. He was eventually successful but at a cost of time if you have plenty to spare.
Hi, I need dac/preamp for my active speaker and hd650 headphone, I have now 2 option to pick, one is the Douk u8 and other option is smsl m500 (first version). What would you recommand for me? I have too less info for douk U8..
The M500 will go louder, but the sound quality is going to be better on the U8, although not as loud. I tested U8 with HD600 and it was loud enough for me. The U8 uses Dual 9038 and the M500 only a single 9038. The U8 also has I2S input that will give you an upgrade path once you have an I2S source in the future. AND I just noticed the U8 is on sale for $169 US!! Great deal!!! amzn.to/3Kf748k
Hey Mark. Well for the price it is. You can't compare it with a $300 unit or something more expensive. But it really is great for its $80 asking price.
I bought the SU-1 out of curiosity. I don't like DS Dacks, but for this money you can get away with it. The DACs sound artificial, too detailed, as if they were putting the photos together from scratch. The old R2Rs are much better. TDA1541 DAC for example, plays better than Denafrips II. Currently I have 4xTDA1541 and 4xPCM63-Y. I'll see how much this little thing is worth and whether it still tickles my ears like other DSs built with ESS chips.
@@RickRuizAudio After warming up the SU-1, I think it's really musical, not artificial and analytical like the ESS. It tends to emphasize female vocals like TDA1541. Its playing style is really similar to the R2R pickups. Out of curiosity, I ordered Fiio K7, which runs on 2 pieces of AKM AK4493S. The signal to SU-1 is sent via Coaxial from the CCHD-957 converter. I power the SU-1 itself from a linear power supply via USB-C.
@@RickRuizAudio what the heck -- definitely aluminium -- it doesn't feel cheap -- what does that mean. as soon as heard you said plastic -- i had to check if someone in the comments called you out -- how can i watch the rest if you get something wrong at the very start -- you ddin't do your homework -- what a joke.

Is it popping when connected to a PC? If that the case. Try updating the driver and unplug and replug the DAC. It could be an old driver. 👍

Is the Optical out on your TV a Variable out? If it is, change it to Fixed in the settings and then, Yes, you can use the K11 as preamp. 👍
I’m currently using a Fiio D03K and have the optical set to PCM on the TV. The three choices are Auto, PCM, or Pass Through.
What lead me to your video was that I’m interested in upgrading to the SU-1, the K11, or the K11 R2R. Thanks for the response.👍🏼

Actually the great experience with the Su-1 is when you find out how much it cost you !
Yeah, it's a great value.

Yeah, please let me know what you think of the SU-1 compared to your DACs. I'm curious to see what you think.

@@Pawel_1977What about Fiio K7 vs SU1?
This may be a beginner's question, but would it be advantageous to pair Su-1 with K7?
Okay. I really can't tell a difference from this demo of the 3 units. They all sound the same to me.
Hey Norm, did you listen with headphones?
Douk U8 is still my pick 🎉
Same here. It's just in another price bracket. But if you have more to spend, it's awesome.
It's entirely aluminium not plastic
Yeah, you're right. I didn't believe it because it feels cheaper. I'll text the K11 R2R soon to see if they improved the case. Thanks 👍

it's not plastic it's aluminium😂
It must be pretty thin then. But that's for the correction. 👍
