    When you tested these mice did you have them plugged into the USB ports that are directly connected to the CPU? I took a look at the manual for your motherboard those are the 4 blue ones. Otherwise you will be going through the chipset which is not ideal.

    "the same mouse, same everything, same design, but with an 8000 hz polling rate" , actually they updated the sensor. The sensor is in the top 3 for accuracy. The also reduced the click latency. And even if you can't play some games at 8000 hz, you can often play those games at 2000 Hz. Which is still a 200% improvement in polling.

      Not only that, something about this guys' computer is bottle necking the polling rate. With a proper setup, I've seen other vids where 8k was no problem, even if it fluctuated from 4k to 8k. I'm pretty sure this guys' setup just can't handle 8k polling and he's basing his judgment on that.

    I believe 8k+ polling rates for gaming mouses are part of the future of gaming etc, however currently it’s not catered for by the vast amount of game engines which are built on older tech developers etc. However, with new engines in development now and going forward, these new technologies will be integrated more into action paced fps titles. Like many things newly adopted, a maturing process is required to achieve its best outcomes.

    I'm no export on this, but could the problem be that you are flooding the OS with interrupts?
    I believe it works something like this:
    When you make a mouse movement (or give input from some other peripheral device) it signals the pc which causes a hardware interrupt.
    The interrupt must be handled by an ISR "interrupt service routine" in the operating system and by the kernel mode driver for the device.
    The OS will for some short time do context-switch from what else it is doing to handle these interrupts. I believe windows has a fixed range of times it stops its normal processing per second in order to check for hardware interrupts, i believe its around 10ms (0.01sec) per check for interrupts.
    If the device for some reason cant process the interrupt right away a DPC "deferred procedure call" is issued.
    All other real-time audio/video/games must wait to continue and drop out frames/samples before this DPC is handled, which can lead to DPC latency that consumes relevant CPU time (CPU is waiting to continue processing the game, speed of cpu doesnt affect this as it still have to wait)
    Some googling suggest you can check this with latencymon, any has this mouse and can check this?
    So maybe its a driver issue? Or maybe you are flooding the OS with interrupts at 8000hz?

    I agree, 8khz feels absolutely amazing. I would recommend buying an 8khz mouse in 2023 though, in most games that i play it works without much performance impact. In some games i had to turn it down to 4khz. 4khz still feels a lot better than 1khz so buying a high polling rate mouse for those games is still worth it imo.
    But at the end of the day I don't really care if 8khz works or doesn't work in most games as long as it works in my main game diabotical. In that game 8khz works even with 30000 DPI with no performance impact. And the game also supports framerate independent inputs to make full use of the 8khz. The engine of that game is incredible. I can't wait for the new games from the 2gd studio because while diabotical is still by far the most fun shooter out there i feel like player numbers are slowly declining.

What has fixed the problem with stuttering and a like for me has been to turn off the HPET(high precision event timer, its stinks apparently) both in windows and Bios and turning the overlay function of in apps like Discord(steam's overlay doesn't cause me issues). I can't say that this will work for everyone but the only games that misbehave for me is on the epic launcher and its the darn overlay you can't disable. And most important it's very cheap because it's "wired" 80€ in Europe vs Wireless which DeathAdder V3 Pro is above 150€.

  • @ariathyf144
    @ariathyf144 Рік тому

    4K Hz pooling rate is already stupid to begin with when you could avoid USB bottleneck by trying PS/2 ports or stick with 1KHz that is the sweet spot between response-speed and stability where your game sense and human reaction time matter MORE than the pooling.
    This is a repeat of the old attempt to replace LASER sensors with LED ones.
    How many peoples care more for DPI deviation, mouse shape, sensor implementation, switch quality, pads and weight?
    Obviously not enough because mouse brands are not understanding the poor decision they are making.

    I’ve been using 8KHz on my Viper since I picked it up all the way back in October 2021, and I haven’t had a single bout of stuttering. I have 0 idea why. The games I’ve played with it are: Warzone, MW 2019, Cold War, Vanguard, Crysis 2/3 Remastered, The Witcher 1, Control, Farcry 6, and Ghost Recon Breakpoint. I have double-checked for 8KHz in Synpase and it’s never left 8KHz. I don’t currently have Synapse installed anymore though.
    CPUs used alongside it: i7-10700KF, i9-10850K, i9-12900K. My power limits are always disabled, I always manually OC them to their limit depending on where the load voltage takes the temperature in Linpack, and whatever RAM kit I own at the time is also always peeked out depending on the capabilities of the board I’m using, and the memory controller of whatever particular chip I’m using. In terms of background apps, I usually AIO software open (RGB Fusion/Aorus Engine/iCUE), depending on which AIO I’m using, and pretty much nothing else in the background. The two boards I’ve used over the last few months have been the Z490 Aorus Master and the Strix Z690-F. I made sure to plug the Viper into one of the higher bandwidth USB ports on the rear I/O with both.
    Monitors I’ve used alongside it: Alienware AW3420DW, ASUS VG27AQ, Alienware AW2521HFL. Haven’t noticed any weirdness related to the refresh rate either.
    I’ve only used it on Windows 11 as well; not sure what other background I can give. But yeah, no weirdness on my side. Granted I don’t play CS anymore, I’ve never played Valorant, and I’ve never played R6S.

I gotta go back to 1000hz in some games where going over that will cause a ton of stutters, but going back to val, I'll realize I'm still on 1k or 8k consistently. 1k almost feels 'too fast' because of 8k giving much more info in-between moving my mouse that I'm missing. I'm definitely not good enough to use this hardware to it's potential, but it's definitely great on valorant. I turn it off for most other games.

    First, play a game where u need every speed you can have like quake champions or quake live or unreal turnament (4).
    Second.. for Bad programmed games you can set the polling down. So where is the problem?
    When you set it on 2000 or 4000, every game will work and it is a better faster input than the normal 1000 polling.
    This is a bad review. 8k is the future and a good invention. And you can set it down in seconds for every game what it is not easy to handle it. Or when your computer is not fast enough for it. That’s the last point.
    On better computers aren’t the problems what you have. It’s not only the game. It’s every part of your computer and to much different driver softwares what can do this.
    When you are not pro in this, don’t do s review about it.
    🤦🏼‍♂️
    You have to know more about hardware software and settings. Trust me

    I can't imagine how 8kHz makes difference, because humans are way-way slower than 1ms. You can't tell a difference, unless the game engines deliberately discriminates slower mice. The 8kHz problem comes from the hardware standards, HID mices are not expected to go above 1kHz. But as they do, it will break most games as you experienced.

    • @pinnacleexpress420
      @pinnacleexpress420 2 роки тому +1

      I think youre completely looking at this wrong. 1kHz vs 8kHz has nothing to do with human perception. This isnt about lag, at all. The only thing you should be able to perceive is that your character turning will match your input more accurately. 8kHz is all about improving accuracy, because the position of your mouse is checked 8x as often.
