What a great video, almost very grass roots style apposed to the normal workshop big budget builds. He seems like a very knowledgeable and down to earth guy too. Kudo's to him and hoping to see his collection of cars out and about one day soon. On another note, does anybody remember Mark Robb's 4g63 converted Cordia back in the day? It spent a lot of its life cruising the Melbourne streets in primer but then in its later years was painted in gtr r34 blue. He did all the work himself, and was a true back yard build. Wonder where it is now as he sold it and moved onto to other things

I hear you mate. I tend to finish a build and then let it degrade or break and I move onto the next. The GTO will be the lower powered longer living build I hope. Shed build on the way also SO hopefully they can stay clean =)
Cordia was a 4g62. The 63 drops right in with a mod to the front engine mount so it tilts forward a bit to clear the hood. Then all you have to do is figure out how to control the wheelspin. Love the stock GSR seats.
I use to love early mitsubishi’s i had 5 cordia’s and built a vr4 one wich was an ex nsw highway patrol car and had alot to do with early gc galants and sigma’s aswell was a great vid boys
Obviously Baz doesn't need more projects, but I'd like to see what he does with a RWD platform. I love my Datsun 510. My 4G63 swap makes about 345whp and weighs just under 2300lbs. It's a blast. I'd love to build a Starion at some point. I've had AWD DSMs and a 4G63 swapped 1989 Dodge Colt GT (factory 1.6L turbo) I love this motor and how capable it is.
I had plans for that white one to be RWD. Had a bill hincher kit and all. Sold it after thinking I'd be better off starting with a rwd platform like a station or sigma.
They do have potential it's just that the extra pistons, heads, turbos, associated parts and weight didn't give me enough to stick with the platform provided I have made the power I was aiming for on the smaller 4G platform. I'm only after a starting 300hp to learn the car and will gradually move up to 400-500hp when I build confidence around the track. All about having fun with the GTO and bring able to stop, turn and brake which will all be benefited with the reduction of weight. Awesome chassis imo with looks to match.
11:56 A bit of unimportant info. The AA and AB cordias had the leaded 1.8 8valve sohc 4g62's with a larger tc06 turbo. The AC had the same engine but tuned for unleaded with the smaller tc05 turbo. There was a 2.0 litre version of the AA/AB engine in some highway patrol cars the starions and were classed as a 4g63. There was a fair few cordias getting around with the 4g63 sohc 12valve cyclone "dash", engine out of the 5th gen Galant too.
Unleaded model also had better trim on the outside, paint, different wheels and much nicer seats. Ahh, the Dash engine, that's a blast from the past :)
