She was in a collectibles store in the east village and I didn't recognize her. After her husband killed himself she came out and said, basically, it was a selfish act to leave her and their young child like that. I respected that she had the guts to say that.

Around 1:20-Not considered sexual, getting backstage & wondering why she wasn't a rock star & Sammy Hagar was when she was a teen? I thought she was always sexual, especially young & as a teen she wasn't playing any instruments then. In her interviews she talked about always going out instead of staying in a room practicing. She wanted attention, but didn't want to practice playing an instrument until it became detrimental to becoming a "rock star". She had to choose, either be alone practicing & writing for hours, or go out, meet ppl & be seen, make contacts & find ppl to work on songs for her. She knew it was more about who you know than what you can do in getting in the business. Her interviews always reference some celebrity or other! She got what she wanted though!
Knute Lindstrom she definitely was, she was stripping at age 16 I believe. I wasn’t aware she had ever learned to play guitar 😂

Courtney is one of my favorite entertainers, but it pisses me off when she says women aren't playing rock that much anymore. 75% of the bands I listen to are female fronted bands, more than half of them are current. Female rock musicians aren't in the mainstream anymore, so if she said they aren't in the mainstream anymore I would agree. But to say there aren't that many females in rock anymore is utterly false.
Can you tell us what groups you listen too that are women fronted?? I for one would really like to check them out
Comparing to male groups, unfortunately there is not that many female lead. Not like women dont Play, its just that they arent given that many opportunities to get bigger

Apparently it doesn't take much talent to become a "rockstar". It just takes the proper education on how to act like a "rockstar".
Obviously she was talented enough to write great songs so there is that.

I think the late 90s with all the pop bs kind of ruined the 90s. I miss the rest of the 90s. There are still good bands and artists, but with rampant ageism against women in the US, you don’t hear about them if they’re over 25. You’d think all women just died when they turned 30. So you never hear the really great female artists (because of course we get better with age)

She talks about being a "Rockstar" as if it's something you copy. Like she said she's so contrived and she's a fake through and through. Shame she didn't use some of that time to learn how to play the guitar,instead she just uses it as a prop
It just sounds to me like your concept of being a "rockstar" is one thing and hers is another. So why exactly do you need her to copy your blueprint when she's already much more successful than you are following her own? Personally, I find her version of "rockstar" much more genuine and original than the model you hinted at. No offense, but yours seems to have a whiff of judgement and and air of restriction circling around it, and personally, that's just not conducive to my "rockstar". Besides, it doesn't even sound like your "rockstar" could take a guitar lesson without being labelled a copycat.

@@arlenmargolin1650 That's my point. Or one of my points. All art is a mix-mash of whatever the artist has been exposed to. What makes it interesting (or not) is the fact that it is filtered through the artist's own unique lens and life experience. Honing one's technical skills with an instrument is one way an artist can go about creating something interesting, but it's certainly not the only way.

Also she gives quite an accurate analysis of what it means/meant to be a rockstar back in the 90s which is interesting to hear for people like me who were born in the 90s and really had no idea at the time.
Plus she does it all in only 2 minutes or so (yes I know it's edited but the things she says here can all be translated into 2 minutes which I think is cool).
And then of course her choice of words is brilliant as always, saying "cheap trick would be like the edgiest they'd go", "I didn't want to change into clothes, and it was cheap" - I love it!
You know what she's talking about when she said she learned a lot of tricks how to even the playing field I know exactly what kind of tricks she's talking about and she knows it too that skirt has a hinge right on the back side and anytime she wanted to learn a new lick she would just lift up her skirt cuz the fact if the girl could not play guitar and the girl could not sing so she had to do something

Kurt could have only written Live Through This. And if he did, I doubt he would not credit himself. He wasn't that timid and shy towards Courtney. They had fights but from what I read, Kurt stood for himself. He wasn't afraid of Courtney. He wouldn't let Courtney have her way with him.
Honestly, don't understand why the fans picture him as this.
The other three Hole albums can't be written by Kurt for obvious reasons.
Anyway, I do know that some songs of Hole's are not entirely written by Courtney.
I think Billy Corgan helped her?

Point is, Kurt didn't wrote most of the songs for Hole. And if he did, he would credit himself for it.
Yes, I find similarities in some of Hole's songs with Nirvana. However, I find that the same with the Foo Fighters.
Knowing that musicians get influenced by the people and their surroundings, I can see where the similarities come from.
I think you are too obsessed with Kurt Cobain and not thinking realistically, believing he's the only one with talent.
His singing was exceptionally good but I don't think you should become blind and prejudice by him.
