Adding a slice of the jungle for JVV. I thought about editing the bird out but decided to leave it in there so everyone can hear the true nature just outside our retail stores here in CR. Be well and ttys brotha!
You're very welcome. Likewise!. I thoroughly enjoy learning what fully encompasses the full spectrum of our Retail industry. From starting with the architecture / designs to the vendor manufacturing of all the elements which help make a commercial space look as it does. And in some cases I've been fortunate enough to see where a product originates which ultimately ends up on a shelf, display or fixture. Trying to showcase how Retail is Thx much Dave as I appreciate your feedback! "Traveling the world showing how retail is similar and yet different across the globe~!"
yes walmart corp owns 50%-51% of all the big super markets in mexico and central america and prices are more than double for simple things.even a 1 pound jar of peanut butter is $9-$11 in most any store in c.r. mennen deoderant is $8-$9 anywhere so don't forget to bring 2 because you may lose one...sticker shock..a 3/4 ounce of denture cream is between $6-$8...just be aware of 2-3xs the cost of most items ...pura vida
Great point. From my standpoint, I feel the US market has other chains filling this discount space which could keep WM with their current offering. Thanks much for your message and comment lady!
Thanks for your note and suggestion for more intel. Unfortunately, I've found it very difficult to include every aspect of retail in a 5 - 7 minute video. As a quick reference on price points within the 4 most popular banners Walmart operates (in Costa Rica), here is what I believe you will find: Walmart - largest product selection - more International labels - great prices Mas X Menos - high quality brands - higher price points MaxiPali - fewer product offerings - discount prices Pali - fewest products - cheapest prices My background is more on building retail stores so they look the way they're designed to look. The intent of this video was so people can see similar retail options are available (in Costa Rica) to what they're familiar with in North America. Hope this helps in regard to your travels and future purchase needs.
I appreciate your comment. The concept of the channel is to provide a high level perspective showcasing retail. Unfortunately in a short video (5 minutes - 9 minutes) it is difficult to get very detailed and granular. I'll try to see what I can do in future videos to capture some quick comparisons. Thx again!
Yeah, there are definitely similarities for sure. From what I've seen in my travels, the Walmart subsidiaries (in other countries) have morphed into looking somewhat similar. I could be wrong but I believe that Bodega and Maxi Pali were started / founded by different firms. Then (through the WM acquisition) they've slowly adapted (over the years) possibly through remodels to feel the same. Thx much for your comment and observations!
i find that the meat and poultry counters in these stores is rather disgusting at every one one of them..bugs, flys etc..the meats just don't look good...
Thanks for your feedback, Doug. I've never seen anything concerning (on my visits) as I may have just been lucky with my timing. I'll definitely keep an eye out on future visits.
Great insight once again--and that killer bird in the beginning was an added plus!

We need those stores in the U.S. Didn't know we could go cheaper than Walmart. Lol Very nice comparison.
Great point.

Wish this was more detailed, especially for potential visitors. Price and product comparison for key items based on town would be helpful.
