Correct! You will not find guns or ammunition in Costa Rica. Actually, I doubt that any other Country except the USA allows guns to be sold in a Walmart.
Better than being at my local one in the middle of the pandemic and living near the coast, no one is social distancing. Everyone is coming to the coast and bringing the virus with them...at least most wear masks in the store.

Stores like Walmart and McDonalds are more upscale in Latin America. They cater to rich people. In America it's the opposite. That's the real reason for the difference. It is true that the shelves are so clean and tidy. Now in quarantine it is supposed to be even cleaner. Do a video of the one Walmart in Escazu which has a cold room full of beer. Yeah I know, a dream come true.
I worked for several years as a Zone Supervisor for Walmart in the US. That store is the best looking Walmart I have ever seen. It looks like a grand opening store in the states or maybe getting ready for some regional manager to visit. Really nice and the produce department is awesome. That is where I started with Walmart was as a Produce manager. Nice video.
James thank you for watching and sharing your experience. This store looks like this all the time! I believe it boils down to a management team that works hard on keeping this store in tip-top shape.
People who shop Walmart in the US want its 'everyday low prices.' If people wanted to pay the overhead for more staff and a more organized store in the US, they would shop at Target. With lower wages in CR, Walmart can afford more staff. With NYs $15 minimum wage, harder to keep prices low with added staff. While the CR Walmart looks great, I think there is more to the story than just CR people that take pride in their work. US Walmarts look more crowded and are pushed to keep staffing expenses low.

We lived in San Jose for a year back in 2012 and learned very quickly that there were cheaper options for shopping than Walmart (which we found to be one of the most expensive). Yo trabajé ahí, comencé cuando lo inauguraron (Noviembre, 2017) y salí un año y tres meses después. Durante todo ese tiempo se mantuvo así de ordenado.
Great video!! Also, the liquor section is HUGE, as they sell beer, wine and hard liquor. Their pastry isle is amazing also. I went to a Walmart in Costa Rica that sold motorcycles and had it's own section for restaurants (Taco Bell, McDonald's, Ice cream parlor, a restaurant that sold traditional Costa Rican food, etc).
I know that's true. It's all about marketing. People think that because it's Walmart selling it it's somehow better and therefore they are willing to pay more.
I was thinking the same thing. You can by fresh fruit and veggies everywhere. Way cheaper to, and help people out. Good to see, for a tourist from America, that the exchange rate has stayed steady. I remember changing $700 US and getting a stack of Colones!. Made me a bit nervous
I literally look at the neatness of the sections as well. Thx for sharing. I’m thinking of coming out early 2121 to check it out for possible relocation.
I believe that when the video was filmed they still gave plastic bags, they are not allowed in most supermarkets nowadays in CR, that's one thing I really appreciate about the country, it's a great initiative.
I been to the Walmart in Allajuela I was very impressed. Unlike the US. Poor customer service, messy, and bad attitudes. Typically the behavior of self entitlement Americans suffer from reflects in their work performance.
I hate that Walmart, it looks like the ones on Mexico is is a mess with things outside the store. The ones is Heredia and the MasXmenos are defiantly the nicest ones!
That looks like La Lima Walmart. What I love about Walmart in Costa Rica is that most cash registers are open, unlike in the US where there's two or three open even at the busiest time, and a long line waiting for self-checkout.

I work at a wal mart in east Tennessee. This store does look great. I like how they have the right items bulk stacked like the things people need and buy not just junk that was sent in. I think the U S stores would be better if they went back to the basics and treated their associates with dignity and go back to good customer service. The clean appearance is due to the workers taking pride in their work but also shoppers not tearing the store up. I have seen customers tear open packages of socks to look at the size then throw the opened one down and get an unopened package.
This store just made my OCD smile! My wife and I will be visiting in May, we'll be at a resort and probably won't need to make a Walmart run......I might just have to "forget" something just so I can shop in OCD heaven!
Hello, great video! That Walmart is located in La Lima, Cartago, and i's true it is so organized, they do a good job. But, i like more the Walmart that is located in Paraíso, Cartago, is bigger, and the floor is white, i don't know is kind of different, but at the end is the same result haha, hope you are doing great. The Walmart in Costa Rica is more expensive and not much people of lower income goes there. Yes it's very clean in all the walmarts i love shopping there and always well stocked..
What stands out to me is no masks. What a wonderful normal experience that seems to be lost in the USA now. Absolute shame what has happened to our country. Hard working dedicated people in this Walmart. Very nice store.
Hi Debbie. This video was recorded back in August 2018, that's why you don't see me or others wearing masks. Nowadays it's required to wear a mask to go inside this or any other store in Costa Rica. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment.
Glad to see you had a nice experience on our Walmarts and our country, we try our best especially with tourists. Based on the comments I can see you still live between USA and here. Hope you're safe during the quarantine. Pura vida morado!
Everybody commenting on how clean the store is, what about our planet???? A plastic bag for one, ONE onion..... come on! I remember the day when I was in high school, in 2000 and threw a candy wrapper in one of the elevated trash bins (I lived in Costa Rica from 1998 to 2015) and it fell trough the cracks and a guy passing me in his car stopped, opened the window and tore me a new one, here all you guys can do is "how clean is this store..." it really hurts me!
Duly noted! I encourage you to read the video description and since this was filmed we now bring re-useable shopping bags ALWAYS. We, along with many people around the world, are doing what we can to reduce our carbon footprint. Thank you for watching and commenting.
as a Costa Rican citizen, i usually think that things like this are very common in every other international business or that it's all the same everywhere, but this changed my thoughts, i'm glad that you found our people very kind!
I bet the customers are more respectful of the workers and put things back where they got them from when they decide not to buy them more so than in the USA! That Walmart reminds reminds me of a Texas HEB except for the appliances! And thanx for the message "Happiness is a lifestyle!"
I would say 2 comments on why it’s nice and neat 1 culture makes the difference on keeping our close surroundings clean and organized. 2 amount of people coming to CR Walmart’s is obviously less than the US causing less mess around Nice video !!!
Everything looks well stocked and straight and aligned. A very neat store. I'm a fan of Walmart. I wished some of the small Caribbean islands had a Walmart. Great video.
Wow Walmarts here in the USA need to learn how its done right! I'll be traveling to San Jose August 1st for dental work. I'm sure I'll be stopping the Walmart. I was there in Feb and didn't even know they had one much less several. Thanks so much for posting this.
Why take a plastic bag for most fruit and veggies? Avocados? They have skin you won’t eat. Even for ones where you eat the skin, you can just wash before you eat.
I went to Walmart in Orlando, FL last year and it is huge when comparing with CR Walmart... I had to walk a lot in there lol... of course a lot of things that we can´t find in CR, and oh! there was a McDonald's inside!... something that called my attention was that I expected to find a lot of assorted chocolates but basically saw the same as CR. I bought some bags to share with my family and I told them "yeah, same chocs as here" lol.....
I agree with you with the well organized and how clean the store is the reason for this is that not everyone can afford the prices there compare to the USA it's cheaper
I dont think that ... I am Costa Rican and I think sometimes Walmart is even cheaper than Pali or Masxmenos ... I always go shopping there because I consider it is cheaper and I calculated it ...

Once I went to a McDonald's here in CR with some friends from the US and they were surprised by how clean it looked. I think the difference here is stores like Walmart are kinda "premium". Not that regular supermarkets are dirty or anything, it's just that some places are more expensive and better looking that others. Maybe you can compare restaurants chains between CR and the US one day. Pura vida!
Thanks for watching.
Yo trabajé ahí, comencé cuando lo inauguraron (Noviembre, 2017) y salí un año y tres meses después. Durante todo ese tiempo se mantuvo así de ordenado.
Gracias por un trabajo tan bien realizado.
I never went to a Walmart that sells liquor here in Canada they don’t allowed it ..
@@biancamassone5870 I try to get to Canada every year. I went to a Walmart in Montreal last year. Great pastry section!!!!!!!!!!

In my opinion WalMart in CR is way overpriced compared to other more local stores like Más por Menos or Auto Mercado.
I know that's true. It's all about marketing. People think that because it's Walmart selling it it's somehow better and therefore they are willing to pay more.
Más x Menos is Walmart property...
Also automercado is the most expensive one. Good experience but way expensive
I was thinking the same thing. You can by fresh fruit and veggies everywhere. Way cheaper to, and help people out. Good to see, for a tourist from America, that the exchange rate has stayed steady. I remember changing $700 US and getting a stack of Colones!. Made me a bit nervous
For me as a guy, I like (generally) because I can get most if not all my shopping done at 1 place. For me convenience is important.
Im so proud to be from Costa Rica and i love this type of videos, actually I think that we're so interesting :)
Glad you enjoyed!
This video is the dream of a retail marketer and an OCD person.
Thank you for watching!
I literally look at the neatness of the sections as well. Thx for sharing. I’m thinking of coming out early 2121 to check it out for possible relocation.
It's more expensive for sure but I still love shopping there. I currently live in Costa Rica but grew up in Boston.
Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment. Pura vida
I believe that when the video was filmed they still gave plastic bags, they are not allowed in most supermarkets nowadays in CR, that's one thing I really appreciate about the country, it's a great initiative.
Yes, single use plastic is now banned in Costa Rica and that is a great thing. We mainly bring our own grocery bags to shop with these days.
Also single use styrofoam is banned

You are correct that's La Lima. It's close to our home in Cartago. Are you from CR or USA?

Minimum wage in Costa Rica, allows for most of those employees to live decently, without having to work more than 2 jobs or even 3...
That's a good thing!
El salario mínimo, según un estudio de la OCDE es lo que de hecho ha llevado a más trabajadores a la informalidad, además que el trabajador costarricense es de los menos productivos, al menos en Latinoamérica después de México.
Solo trae beneficios a corto plazo.

Respect for your work and someone else's is key to keep the cleanliness. We appreciate you watching and taking the time to comment
This store just made my OCD smile! My wife and I will be visiting in May, we'll be at a resort and probably won't need to make a Walmart run......I might just have to "forget" something just so I can shop in OCD heaven!
It is a very well organized store for sure! Thanks for watching.
Hello, great video! That Walmart is located in La Lima, Cartago, and i's true it is so organized, they do a good job. Hi Debbie. This video was recorded back in August 2018, that's why you don't see me or others wearing masks. Nowadays it's required to wear a mask to go inside this or any other store in Costa Rica. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment.

2 amount of people coming to CR Walmart’s is obviously less than the US causing less mess around

Why take a plastic bag just for one onion?

Why take a plastic bag for most fruit and veggies? Avocados? They have skin you won’t eat. Even for ones where you eat the skin, you can just wash before you eat.
Man, that is the cleanest, neatest, nicest Walmart I've ever seen in my life.
Same happened to me
It's all about competition for the segment. I am sure the other chains look as nice or maybe nicer. Thumbs up for Costa Rica.
Most stores are organized, some more than others of course, but this particular one looks great. Thanks for watching
I agree with you with the well organized and how clean the store is the reason for this is that not everyone can afford the prices there compare to the USA it's cheaper
Not sure what the price has to do with the cleanliness. Either way, the store is maintained well.
