Hey Jenna (: lover of all vintage levis here. Just wanted to say that those are an amazing find! Based on my knowledge of the rivets, those can be dated between 1966-1982 which is incredible. Most vintage levis have gold interior rivets which is indicative of the 90s/modern day.
I'm 4'10. Your tutorial makes me really want to start sewing thifted/goodwill jeans that I find. My exciting finding was at a local goodwill. I found a pair of khaki slacks that were my exact fit all around even in the length for 99cents! Loving your videos :)
Seam ripping the top and bottom of the waistband, removing some of the extra fabric by taking it in, and then reattaching them to the jeans would come out pretty neat too!
Next time also try taking them in around the the crotch (from left leg to right leg) along the inside the seam. It will fix that bagginess around the groin.
Hey thanks. I was looking for a solution to this. I did take them in around the crotch but it did not help. Maybe I did something wrong. Can you explain more about it? Or can someone help me. I really love the jeans but I don't like to wear it with a V effect on my groin. 😁
Sorry to be so offtopic but does anybody know a way to get back into an Instagram account?? I somehow forgot my password. I would love any assistance you can give me
@Braylon Dominick Thanks for your reply. I got to the site thru google and I'm in the hacking process now. Takes a while so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
As your video is a year old I expect you discovered, in laundering your denims, the reason for finishing the seam edges is more than just overachieving, but a totally serves a critical purpose; unfinshed seams of denim frays terribly, which means eventually your unfinished seam edges will fray to the point your seams may come apart. Options for finishing seams is either zigzag stitch, serger finish, OR, after ironing the seams open stitch along the edge of each seam edge, through the pant leg, so you have an outside detail running the length of each leg, but this will also help prevent the denim from fraying. Or you could also simple do a straight seam along each seam edge, but if you're going to do that you might as sell go with the zigzag stitch. Cute white jeans, and my favorite style; I LOVE the button fly, and they look really good on you.,
Finally a video I can actually go off of for altering my oversized jeans! Thank youuuuu. I’ve watched probably 7 videos at this point and looked at so many Pinterest pins lmao
belt loop! Good thinking to cover the seam with them! I did that in a video I filmed recently when I altered a pair of Jag jeans I got from a thrift store
Youre so cute and sweet, love your energy, btw this was my fave tutorial on resizing jeans cause everyone cut them in the front and back not in the sizes and to my taste it ruins them, thank you for sharing!
Love those pants! I usually take my jeans in from the waist and try and hide the seam around the pocket. I will have to try this method it is so much cuter!
Thanks for this I've lost weight in the covid year and my trousers are to big now on the legs so I'm so pleased I found this video, as I can't even go and try trousers on, so thanks for this. Elaine 😊
Nice job! By now you know those are belt loops. Another tip: if you use pinking shears to trim off the extra fabric it reduces the fraying and you don't have to use your zig zag stitch on them. Pinking shears cut in a zigzag pattern for those wondering what they are.
Those look so good. I’ve been altering my thrust finds for years a now and it’s such a great way to make things fit perfectly. Also it’s called a belt loop 😂😂😂
Pants look SO good! I have been wanting to get into thrift flipping for a while, but don't have a sewing machine yet. I noticed yours is Singer's heavy duty model. Do you like it? What's the difference between that and a regular sewing machine? Do you find that it is better with denim? Thanks! :)
I know what you mean when you say that you have trouble finding jeans that fit well I too have the same problem I have gone from a size 16 to a size 10 to 12 in jeans cause of having Crohn’s disease I found the perfect pair of wrangler jeans in a thrift shop but did not buy them cause I knew they would be too big on me but now I might buy them and take them in or something 🦋😀
Hi! I'm new too in your channel and i'm loving it! I would love to see more thrift flips, it's so fun to see :) By the way I'm portuguese viewer from Portugal, to let you know and sorry for my english, it's not the best :P love you
Interesting. My clothing & textiles teacher always taught our class to pin horizontally instead of vertically. Our pins never break when sewn over. I guess vertically would work too.
I have such a hard time finding pants that fit well, so I'm pursuing some advice on how I can take some in and make them not so horribly gapey, but also what did you do around the pockets? Doesn't taking it in on the sides sorta mess that up? I've seen people do darts on the back, but that tends to be more visible than your method, and I'd rather not have those seams. Any advice???
I would do the back seam just about an inch. Undo the original seam and overlap that way they are more even. I admire you for attempting, so many young girls don't even know how to thread a needle, so you are awesome
They came out sooo good! I’ve been looking for a pair of white jeans too and have been struggling! Might try to thrift a bigger pair and resize them.. maybe lol
great! Next time you can add darts on the back of the waistband rather than taper down the side seam of the belt, in this way buttons are not in the way:)) I did it in the sewing course i'm following :))
hey not sure if you will see this as I am a little late just wanted to know what needle and thread you used for denim as everything I've tried has been too weak
@@JennaPhipps I wanted to ask, is there a way to make jeans kind of tapered, I mean, so that they are sliiightly narrower at the bottom? I got this perfect pair or black mom Jean's, but they are big for me, I will use your technique to make the hips and waist fit.
I'd highly recommend either stitching again just outside your new side leg seams OR actually (instead of splitting your seams and pressing them open), zigzag them closed together. Especially if you want to keep these for a long time, you want to reinforce seams which will receive a lot of stress (so, particularly around the hip area). 👍👍
Haha thank you! I don't work out as much as I would like to, mainly a lot of hot yoga right now while the snow is on the ground and i'll do more running once it gets nicer out :)

Why is it so pleasing that you used white pins with white pants and they were all the same color
It’s called a belt loop

Love the thrift flip please do more 😸. You make me want to sew.
I’m dying to thrift flip some jeans so your video came in very handy, please do more thrift flips. Thank you.
Nice job. So refreshing to see a comfortable fit rather than skin tight, as some other vids show.
Thank you for this video! Gotta try it myself on some thrifted boyfriend jeans. The "thingies" are called belt loops, by the way :)
Love your tut and we have the same iron and ironing board..lol!
Throughly impressed 😍 love how they turned out!
Thank you so much, Carolyn!

Your dog is sooooo cute, he made me liked your video the second I saw him hahahha
Loved ir! I wish I had a sewing machine!
Your dog is so adorable. My dog looks exactly like yours as well which is crazy! Do you know what breed he is ?
This is the exact video I was looking for- I thrifted jeans that are too big and low waisted and I wanna fix them
This was a really good video
Great job and thank you for showing us!
Great job
9:42 I think those are called beltloops. But I am Dutch so i could be wrong
Interesting. My clothing & textiles teacher always taught our class to pin horizontally instead of vertically. Our pins never break when sewn over. I guess vertically would work too.
most people do horizontal but an expert that does upholstery and curtains told me vertically doesnt distort as much and its more precise
be careful if you are sewing over a pin because it can damage the machine and make the needle not last very long
What Camera and equipment do you have? Really liked the video. Thanks Ozarksflipper
this is so smart!!!! i cant wait to try this
The back of the Jean's look so perfect 😭😭
Great job! They turned out so good!!
Thank you!
Hi! I am learning how to use a sewing machine, could you tell me whatcha stitch did you use in each passage? Thx
wow they turned out SO good!! idk how you don’t have more subscribers, i love your channel!
Thank you, I surprised myself too! aww thank you, I just started my channel in October, so hopefully one day ❤️

Heyyy I love the video and the jeans got amazing 😍
Did you use a special jeans needle or a normal one?
I have the same questionnn
They turned out good! Great job girl!
Thank you so much Erica ❤️
Awesome
I would do the back seam just about an inch. Undo the original seam and overlap that way they are more even. I admire you for attempting, so many young girls don't even know how to thread a needle, so you are awesome
What kind of stitch did you use? Also do you need a special needle for jean fabric??
Try a serger for seam finishing....much easier, neater and more omfortable.
Admire your sewing skills and determination.
They came out sooo good! I’ve been looking for a pair of white jeans too and have been struggling! Might try to thrift a bigger pair and resize them.. maybe lol
Thank you! Arn't they the hardest to find?
okay this is off topic but you are actually super adorable, like how you explain everything, so cute 😢😭💖💖
Did you use a usual needle or denim needle to sew your pants?
Omg!!
great! Next time you can add darts on the back of the waistband rather than taper down the side seam of the belt, in this way buttons are not in the way:)) I did it in the sewing course i'm following :))
More thrift flip pls
hey not sure if you will see this as I am a little late just wanted to know what needle and thread you used for denim as everything I've tried has been too weak
I love thrift flips. And isn’t it so fun playing around on a sewing machine!??
I LOVE IT! I haven't sewn this much since high school and it is so fun!

Belt loop😊
This was so useful and simple and helpful thank you the most 🤍

AHHH! There it is! Thank you !

belt loops?
BELT LOOPS 😂
Cool video I have a suggestion for you
Think they are called belt loops.
It is called a belt carrier.
Perhaps "belt loops"?
nice vide
