I joined the disabled/accessible queue for the Queen's lying in state. It was appalling with clueless stewards who had no idea how long we would be queueing or if and when the ticketing (wristband) facility would be open or if we were already wasting our time. I went home and returned at 04:00hrs and the queue was now being overseen by the Royal Engineers (Paras). What a difference. Intelligent, engaged, giving out blankets and chairs, clear articulation of what was going on. An absolute credit to us British. Next time I want one of those pontoon bridge things I know who I'm going to call.
My grandad was in TA he was attached to airborne sappers he was in Reme did his para training and got his wings and went to Cyprus.
This is a comment to the brave and coreouges men from Grange mouth in 1975.who lost their lives on the trent River..pat harkins only survivor remained a humble and guinien man.my old dad John Cowie. Ex sas .was ordered. Drive between pick up points..he had to live with that order till he died 5 years ago. He was a humble, loving, generous father, grandfather and great grandfather. He never forgot his company. To all in 131 commando. Thankyou. Andy.
hahah amazing Dave heard was my CPL in phase 2 good to see how far he has gone 👏🏻
Hoping to join 23CRE when I am 20, planning on either 9 sqn or 51, gonna keep working out till then.
Things have changed - I thought the award of a maroon beret was given AFTER passing P Company.
I think some of the footage was taken after they had done the all arms parachute course, and the interviews were recorded before the course. It’s still the same, you get the beret upon passing P Coy.
Guy says he is going to do P company; so why is he already wearing maroon beret?
Members of 16 air assault wear the Maroon Beret regardless of passing P Coy or not. It's the wings that will denote passing P Coy once the jumps course is done.
Top unit.
Why is this filmed in 4:3 instead of standard 16:9 ? Genuine question

Can we have the equivalent video for the commando engineers
Hi Kirsten, this video was made by the Army Comms team. However, the Royal Engineers will be visiting units as soon as possible, to film more content of what our sappers do. In the meantime, if you haven't seen it already? Please check out our Commando video that was made by one of our Sappers: ua-cam.com/video/0vm7nAfIO0k/v-deo.html
Thanks, I only ask because my son will be going to 24, once he finishes the last part of his training.
I hated that MGB........... veteran 15 year Sapper
Didn't understand that last sappers comments..... wearing maroon lid , then said he going to do p coy...means jumps doesn't he..
No so basically everyone who is at an airborne unit now is given the lid they just can’t shape it eg peak it
In the 80s we done p coy , awarded maroon lid , then completed jumps for ya lid.
@@dnaduck9579 didn’t know that. Kind of takes the excitement away from being awarded it at the end of the course
@SuperVHSchannel i was awarded it for having earned it
Why do they have maroon berets whilst they’ve not passed P-Company?
They have passed P Company
All soldiers within 16 AA Bde wear maroon lids regardless of passing P Coy.
P company gives them right to wear the shoulder wings as I understand it - Think of dday, where pegasus bridge was captured by airbourne troops who landed in gliders; they'd have the beret, but not the wings

Overdoing em Masks too much... Even outdoors??
Hi Mwry, it may seem that way. However, our country guidelines state that if we are closer than 2 metres, even outdoors and especially when we are training. We must wear a mask...better safe than sorry. We don't want our sappers spreading the virus, and not being able to complete their training requirements due to self isolating requirements.
