I was that annoying customer in 1995 who would actually call the company and say “why did this one get re-colored?” The woman at the front desk at Bandai spilled the tea but back then we didn’t have the Internet or social media to spread the word.
I always thought it was really weird that the Japanese version of toys that get released in America were always so much better with QC and paint applications. I was lucky as a kid in the 90s to pickup the Japanese versions once a year on vacation and was able to compare them.
QC? Not really. Paint? Yes. Although some seasons it's less notable than others, especially from Zeo onward. And often it was down to certain parts being changed to soft or semi-soft plastic, which does NOT cooperate with enamel paint or vacuum-metallizing (Which is how chromed parts are done). Of course, that's with regard to the import era, as opposed to RPM through the neo-Saban era where Bandai America's cost structuring was so fucky they found it more economical to do lighter-weight, often-simplified (Samurai was hit the worst by this) recreations for the regular retail lines. They couldn't fix that weakness even for the movie line (which sorely _needed_ them to fix it).

Of course, the funny thing about the recoloring on the Crane Zord was that the red parts _did_ look kinda pink in about half the show footage, because of the color shifting that tends to happen when film footage is transferred to tape.
I'm enjoying all your power ranger zord videros & even added the playlist to my library. I was wondering if i get the shogun megazord with the white arm will it be compatible with legacy titanus & legacy falconzord to make the shogun ultrazord & shogun megafalconzord?
I still have my blue zord and the falcon zord from this set from when I got it as a kid... I really wish I still had the whole set :( My daughter now plays with both, and it's making me want to buy them again
I still have my Shogun and Ninja Megazords. And Falcon Zord. It did bother me back then that the Shogun was not show accurate. I also still have Ninjor and I had Titanus, but it seems to have disappeared years ago.
Also, the funny thing was that Muteki Shogun (Shogun Megazord) was the first mecha in Kakuranger, and Kakure Daishogun (what became the Ninja Megazord) was the last mecha, and it's combonation with Tsubasamaru (White Falconzord) was the big combination of the series. So we got the two flipped in order for some reason
I think it was because Tommy needed a zord, seeing as they had six rangers going into season 3; they also had Tsubasmaru in Kakuranger when the zords were introduced. It may have also had to do with the fact that the ninja zords were animals, which were like the previous zords they had, while the shogun zords were more humanoid.
@@matthewkuscienko4616 I can see that. But either way, Tsubumaru could go along side them still since the order of release was Muteki Shogun, Tsubumaru, then Kakure Daishogun. So they could have gone with Muteki shogun first. But oh well, it's fine. At least we got all 3
One of those Megazords I never had. I didn't get the channel for Power Rangers when this season aired, so I only had the Ninja Megazord because of the movie. Wish I knew about it back then!

I was hoping that we would get all the way up to Legacy Zeo because of the Legacy Zeonizers… unfortunately for the legacy ninja megazord I wasn’t really impressed by it. It was much smaller in size compared to the original and the falcon zord attaches so flimsily I couldn’t even display them together, and eventually when I put them back in the box for a move I never took them back out I just displayed the box… although if there was a Shogan, I would have definitely put the falcon zord on that and displayed both… but I recently did the same as you and bought the Japanese version for my own personal collection
Memory is no reliable source but didn't Tommy kind of hang back with the Falconzord for a bit while the others were rockin' the Shoguns? Might add to the swap from Pink to White and keep Falconzord on shelves for a bit longer.
When the Rangers got the Shogunzords the Falconzord was held captured by the villains. This caused the other Ninja Zords to be inoperable. The Rangers didn’t get the Falconzord back until Rita’s father Master Vile came on the scene. Tommy only piloted the Falconzord once after it was back with the Rangers.
The reason why this happened was because of the original Super Sentai source material, Kakuranger: in the Sentai series, the Shogun Megazord (known as Muteki Shogun in Japan) was their first mecha, so it didn't have it's combination with the Falcon Zord (Tsubasumaru in Japan) at first, as that was introduced later in the series. Eventually, the Ninja Megazord (Kakure DaiShogun in Japan) was introduced and became their most powerful mecha, and because the Falcon Zord was already part of the team, it could access it's super combination right off the bat. The reason why they reversed it this way in Power Rangers is most likely because up until Lost Galaxy first aired, the Rangers' would continue to reprise their roles as heroes in the following season, so when season 3 rolled around, there were 6 Rangers when there were 5 in Kakuranger -- this meant that all 6 needed their own Zords (notably, Tsubasumaru didn't have an associated ranger in Japan and was it's own entity). Because of this, since there was 6 being used together when Kakure DaiShogun debuted, that got used as the first season 3 Megazord, and the fact that they were all animals rather than being human-like with the Shogun Zords (which made Tsubasumaru fit right in with the rest of the team) probably also influenced the decision to do so to an extent as well. Also, fun fact about these Megazords: in Kakuranger, it was the white ranger (who was the pink ranger's equivalent in Japan) that was the leader -- this explains both why the helmet worn by Muteki Shogun resembled an origami crane, and also why the crane became the head for Kakure DaiShogun as well. But because the Megazords were introduced backwards in America, they needed to have an excuse as to why they couldn't suddenly use the Falcon Zord anymore once the got the Shogun Zords
What I never understood is why did they bring back Titanus for the Ninja Zords? Notice how the Dino Zords had Titanus already, then the Thunder Zords had Tor, but yet they couldn't create a new carrier for the Ninja Zords? Couldn't they have a rhino or something as the new carrier? That would've been cool. 😎
And P.S: I think they messed up with the Shogun Zords story line. The White Ranger had his White Shogun Zord AND his White Falconzord when the two would combine leaving Kimberley with nothing. Maybe Tommy could've been the one who was abducted. That way Kim would've had the Pink Shogun Zord (like the toy one) and Tommy could've had his own new Zord like he always had. 😎
Well it's because kakuranger doesn't have that at all so they just use titanus instead. Besides, we already have ninjor/ninjaman in season 3 as both Abit of a mentor and a companion who can become a mecha itself
