    What an amazing trip report starting from Austria and crossing the whole of Germany to the northern coastal island of sylt the sunset and mountain views at the start are great including the sunrise but the best part was going on the causeway the train only mère metres away from the sea well done you and those who created the service 😊👍👍👍 this video deserves ALOT more views and £89 pounds to go over 1000km??? That's definitely well worth the money!

    Great video! I miss very much those compartment coaches where you could open the windows. They were the standard long distance trains from the mid fifties to the end of the nineties. Much more comfortable than the ICEs today.

    The slow and oldfashioned way (considering these coaches are all over fifty years old, rebuilt multiple times). During the day you can make the same trip around twelve hours but need to change trains several times. I haven't taken the Alpen Sylt Nachtexpress but the train is familiar to me as I designed the models (five-car set and locomotive soon available in H0 scale from L.S.Models).

      Thanks for the info, I didn't know these were 1960s built coaches! They seem much newer, I would have guessed 1980s or maybe 1990s.

      @@SuperalbsTravels They were all modernized 1999 to 2002, which included installation of air conditioning and upgrading for 200 km/h (originally only for 140 km/h). Until 2017 used by Deutsche Bahn / City Night Line, then sold to various operators.

    Thanks for the excellent video. I was already thinking of doing the trip, but, with the new restrictions on coming into Germany from France, it will be a lot more difficult :-(

      Oh no...
      Hopefully you'll be able to give it a go on the winter season, maybe things will have calmed down a bit by then. In any case, hope you enjoyed the video to give a taste of what you're sadly missing out on for the time being.

    It is $116 to get there, but I assume you will have to take the same train back from the island at another $116.00. Lovely video and unusual, too.

      @SuperalbsTravels  3 роки тому

      Thanks glad you enjoyed. I actually took a different train back off the island, travelling instead to Berlin in Second Class for a little less than $50. :)

    Really loved this video, will be sure to do this route in 2021. Can you use interrail on these trains with a supplement?

    • @SuperalbsTravels
      @SuperalbsTravels  3 роки тому +1

      Glad you liked it, and hope you enjoy doing the route.
      As for Interrail, sadly not, as this is a completely seperate operation to any state railway network/contract. Still, it is not that expensive if you book it right! :)

    Good value of course in COVID times but normally you might end up with 6 persons in a coupe, that I would never want.

    • @SuperalbsTravels
      @SuperalbsTravels  3 роки тому +1

      Maybe, but they'd let you know about that before booking, when that is even possible to happen.
      Of course, if you share with friends, you could travel with them and split the cost. Not so bad that way.
