awesome dude!! i am going to do the c&o and gap trail from dc to Pittsburgh. not sure the dat, but sometime around sept 1st!! I am goona park at cumberland and take da train to dc then ride back to cumberland, then on to pittsburgh. my issue is i am gonna have to stay at that closet campground to pittsburgh then get up dat morning and ride there and turn around and head back to cumberland on da bike. no money for no motel in pittsburgh!! dey want like 150 to 200 a night. that's the plan anyhow!! I want to go up to pennslyvania and do the pine creek trail to, but another time. I think my biggest concern on the trip is not stopping 2x a day for meals at local restraunts. that gets expensive. i am gonna bring some food along and buy sanwich meat at the grocery store and make snawiches . trying not to spend anymore than i have to!!

@TheBane1979 I am from Butler County myself, but I live in Oklahoma now. I am pleased to see more cycling infrastructure every time I go back. In the early 90s, I rode several trails on my mtb that really weren't mtb friendly, but I would ride them early mornings on weekdays when mo one was around. Now, some of those places are mtb friendly, Hueston Woods, Ceasars Creek, and East Fork Lake, to name a few.
@TheBane1979 Myself included, I have been looking at gravel bikes that will take up over a 47mm or larger. I built up my 1998 Barracuda XC URT frame a while back that had been hanging in my garage. I put on a suspension corrected rigid steel fork, a 1 x 7 drivetrain, and it's running 26 x 2.1" tires. It's sort of a softtail gravel bike I have dubbed my Frankengravel. I am planning on mounting racks and riding the Katy Trail next year on it.
