I just got the g12c and I did a lot of comparisons via UA-cam, I did consider the /S but to my ears, it sounded less "open" not as pretty as the sound I had in my head that I was going for. I didn't see this video lol. After seeing this now I'm glad I chose the/C. It seems to have more of what I want and doesn't lack against. the S. I'm sure I would be happy with the S but it sounds a little muted compared to the straight up C. Also, I think the C sounds better with the overdrive
Hello everybody. I made a version of this video with fixed issue of different levels between the speakers. Of course all the credits for this great demo belong to the original author, this is just my small contribution to its quality. The video is here: ua-cam.com/video/ZNUJH6Pkvos/v-deo.html. In the description below my video is an explanation of what I did to restore the original recording with consistent levels. Thanks jonizefox for this great demo and cheers everybody!
The G12C was nice and crisp but barked too much when turned up. The C/S seems like it didnt have the mic placed in the same sport or the recording volume was not the same. The C/S needed some post EQ to cut the bass and increase the highs. Although the reviews make the c/s sound promising, this video didn't do much to validate that.
@@michaelmcwilliams4705 I never owned a stock Princeton (10" speaker), I ordered my clone with a G12C/s speaker. I play loud at home, but not at real gig volume. Considering these 2 things, I think the G12C is the good choice (I did not keep the C/s). You'd probably loose the cranked 10" speaker, maybe some crisp (that could be very good but I cannot state about that myself), but earn a fuller sound/spectrum, more defined bass and headroom
@@jonizefox My Princeton has a 12" speaker that has originally had an Eminence Cannabis Rex, but it was too dark for me and the speaker didn't breathe enough for me. I changed it out to a well broken-in ET65 that I really like with the exception that I wish it had a touch more midrange. I thought the c/s would fit the bill, but it sounds like I'll stick with the ET65 and use a Graphic EQ to shape my sound. Thanks, great job on the video.
Michael McWilliams At my playing volume, I thought it was too bad too loose those précious highs with the Cs. Those WGS G12C stay in the original PR speaker voicing range, don’t expect big mids.
IMHO the c/s goes too far. Its too dramatic. Maybe half the drop in sensitivity would be nice. Unless you just didn't turn the amp UP when you changed the speaker.. ?
finally i have been waiting a long time for someone to do this thank you very much!! Do they play equally loud? Seems to me that is all about clean vs dirty. If you play clean i would def. choose the G12C it has more attack and more definition. Maybe if I played more dirty then the G12C/S would be my choice. But then i would very much like to hear the G12 C/S with Gain compared to Celestion V30 - G12h30 - V 70
Thanks for doing this comparison! Now I know which one my ears would like me to buy!

Como hiciste para adquirirlo porque yo no encuentro la manera
Well, this definitely helped me make up my mind. But I’m definitely going the way of the 10”.
Very good demo, thanks a lot!

Merci pour la démo l'ami ! 👍
dam good demo, thanks
Would you put the g12c/s in a vox ac30? Because it has more top end and midrange. I’m trying to mellow it down just a slight bit.
I cannot answer sorry. Don't forget it is based on classic Fender amps speaker.
The only speakers you want in an AC30 are celestion alnico blues.
You want to mellow out an amp by putting a speaker in with more top end?

Volume issue is my bad, mic placement is the same.
jonizefox I’d like to change it the speaker in my Princeton for the c/s. Do you think it’s worth it?

Drop in volume here are mainly my bad when recording. Turning the amp at stage volume could change the comparison too, I'm just a home player.
The /S sounded all muffled like it had a giant ball-bag in front of it. Perhaps the /S means - Scrotal Sack 😎
Volume variations are my bad. But maybe you have a small ball-bag on your ears.

Yes, equally loud.

Dosen't help when your mic is clipping though bra
I would really wonder about clipping with SM57, which means a huge volume. Maybe the soundcard, ponctually.
