Awesome to hear from you, Pam! Haven't watched this channel in a while but I'm glad to see you're doing well. Great trip to Italy, eh? I want to travel, too. One day.
I want to thank you for being a part of what inspired me to delve into non-mainstream games more than I have in the past. There is a lot of good content that tends to fly under the radar. I am going to try to watch more but life is a bit busy, to be honest. Love you and your UA-cam. God bless!
What a nice comment. I'm happy to hear that I've introduced some games you might not have know about.
Wow! I hadn't heard of Chants of Sennar but that sounds MADE for me. Ever since Riven, deciphering languages in games has been an odd itch I love to scratch. Thanks for the recommendation!
Nebbiolo is such a wonderful grape and though it has more recently been cultivated in northern Mexico and Australia, it's best expression is absolutely from Piedmont. My mouth is left watering thinking on that deep red fruit/licorice finish, even as my pocketbook gasps.
I was expecting to be able to get some Barolo there for less than it is here... but no. It was just as much, if not more when you take the Euro > CAD conversion into account.
Glad you enjoyed Italy with you and your mom. I hope she had a great birthday and you both had a good time together. Those are honestly the best trips. Naples has some good pizza. Unfortunately Rome is a tourist trap, sorry you had to experience the aggressive hustlers. I have Unicorn Overlord in my backlog, so still gotta try that eventually. Summer Games Fest started a few days ago and I wishlisted everything that looks interesting. Since you share kind of a similar taste in games as me, I could give you a list of all the interesting games I found. Just give me a sign. There's a lot!
I've got a huge list of my own.
Unicorn Overlord is really something special
Thank you for the concise quick reviews. And happy belated birthday!
Very gracious of you :) I think your best video is the Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers vid, made me laugh out loud, I did watch both versions though (there was a shorter and longer one, the shorter one focused less on game and more on your laughing :) I like your best of games lists, unfortunately not a fan of metroid type games so can't relate to those. Also appreciate how at times you've tried to deal with less-desirables through your vids.
Thanks for this exciting update video Pam!
Thanks for watching!
Congratulations on the Italy trip. Always wanted to check out their coast.
Glad to hear your take on Animal Well. Quite a fun game!
Tuscany is definitely worth it. I'd recommend staying in Florence and using it as a base for excursions around the region. Pisa I'd say is overrated (not much to see or do besides the leaning tower and adjecent church), but I wouldn't miss out on Siena or San Gimignano. You could even go from there to Assisi, even if that's in Umbria. If you want to return to the south instead, I was in Sicily last year and just driving around you'll see some of the most beautiful vistas anywhere in the world with its combination of mountains, steep cliffs, vineyards and olive groves with Roman and medieval ruins in between.
Anyways, best regards and welcome back from a longtime follower (and longtime traveller).
Thanks for the tips! Sicily looks gorgeous, but I'd also like to see more of the North.
I've always wanted to go to Italy, awesome to see that you had such a great time! Chants of Sennar flew under my radar, I may have to check that out for some chill puzzle time
Loved all your updates of your trip and maybe the tiniest bit jealous.
Even without the game crashing bugs, I did have the same lack of polish issues with Shootas. Still a lot of fun.
And now that I've seen what Unicorn Overlord looks like...I kinda want to play it.
You should come next time.
Cheers from Italy! I'm happy you liked our country!
I loved it!
👌Fantastic place.
🇬🇧
I get the appeal of being able to see both mountains and sea! I live on the coast but also on the edge of a mountain range, so I'm lucky enough to have both most of the time. I haven't been to the parts of Italy you visited, but I have been to Sicily. Very cool (but dry and dusty and hot) place.
A couple of people have recommended Chants of Sennar, but I find it a bit intimidating. Having to figure out language seems like the kind of thing that could be really interesting, or could completely fall flat for me. Lately I've been playing Immortals: Fenyx Rising (which is a rare example of an open world game that I actually really enjoyed) and Nightmare Kart (formerly Bloodborne Kart, now legally distinct).
Fenyx Rising is also one of the few open work games I enjoyed,
Looks like you had a fun trip. Cheers.
I did!
Glad you had a wonderful trip with your mom, the instagram photos are beautiful.
Thank you!
FYI the Shootas Blood and Teef devs are the same ones that made Guns Gore and Cannoli.
Animal Well is so cool. I have a feeling its going to influence a lot of metroidvanias going forward. I bet in the next 3-4 years were gonna se a bunch of non combat puzzle metroidvanias.
Yes, it's quite obvious it's the same devs.
And I agree! I think we'll see more puzzles in these kinds of games and less combat focus.
Looks like an amazing trip!
Beautiful snapshots of Italy! Visited Tuscany years ago, Florence is beautiful too but the Ponte Vecchio is just a tourist trap (like Rome probably) but the Uffizi museum is fantastic.
I'd like to go to Tuscany at some point.
Accidentally held key down. Always heartfelt appreciation.
Falanghina is one of the best white wines you can find. Highly underappreciated. Campania hits above their weight class in wines.
It's so good, I don't think much of it makes its way over here, though. It's exactly the kind of crisp, mineral-y white wine I like.
I dont like traveling but Italy is just gorgeous. I seen vlogs of different youtubers vlog their trip in Italy, and omg its just incredible. Rome seems cool, but i can agree on being overcrowded in the summer i dont that one bit, I also used to watch rick Steve's Europe when i was a kid, and it was just incredible seeing rick steve travel and teach us facts about the area he is at.
Didn’t realize you had an IG, so I just followed you there. Always interested in your suggestions of games, especially as I’m looking for something new at this time.
Thanks for the excellent video!
Glad you liked it
I saw your Italy trip on instagram, that is so awesome Pam! I hope you had a great time. Especially with all the wine! Anyway, have a great week
Thanks for the video.
Great Italy pics Pam, I went there myself some years ago. Venice was cool, spent a brief bit of time in Verona, but Florence was easily my favorite. Saw a concert in Turin, and Cinque Terre was...overrated other than hiking between the towns. Somehow I knew to avoid Rome, but there's plenty more I'd love to go back to see.
Stopped by when you were streaming Animal Well, the game hooked me too. Somehow I've been able to resist UO so far, looks like a modern Ogre Battle so I'll probably give in to it eventually.
I'd love to go back and see more of Italy sometime.
beautiful landscapes and good wine, that´s what life is all about
Yes! It was so nice.
Love the vid. And jealous you went to Italy.
Welcome back pam! Come visit Vancouver some time we have the best mountain/ocean combo in the world!
Glad you had fun in Italy! Over this month I've been playing Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon on my Switch (I've beaten it before on my 3DS). I also got Paper Mario TTYD and it's going well.
Awesome Trip! I just finished Unicorn Overlord a few days ago too! Great game, I was surprised how much I liked. I'm usually not too good at RTS games.
those old cities of Italy looks good.
Ahhh vacation sounds so nice right now, glad Italy treated you well! Aside from animal well, ive slowly been enjoying Isles of Sea and Sky. Its an open world sokoban puzzle with some really interesting ideas and tons of secrets
Oh, an open world puzzle game sound fun. I've been thinking of picking up Islands of Insight.
Had a great time with Unicorn Overlord. I wasn't expecting to do everything but it was so well-designed that I couldn't put it down. And even late in the game, it was so satisfying to watch the fights play out that I had a hard time just skipping them (which brought my hour count to around 70 over a few months).
I skipped a lot of fights. My time would have been up there as well if I hadn't.
@@Cannotbetamed1Renault is great! So many great characters
In honor of your trip to Italy....Felice Che Ti Sia Divertito.
Next time you go to Italy make sure to pass by in Sicily, I'd be glad to be your guide there
I'm playing a few games right now, I've been playing Stray Gods: The Roleplaying Musical, Boltgun, and Death's Gambit, which is a pretty interesting metroidvania that is also Souls-like
I enjoyed Death's Gambit, though I never finished it. I've also been playing some Boltgun, here and there.
@@Cannotbetamed1 I ended up playing Boltgun because Rahul Kohli was really excited about acting in it, and you had mentioned it. It's my first experience of Warhammer. Warhammer always kind of intimidated me, to be honest, but I'm enjoying the game so far, I'm about a third of the way and appreciate the old school level design. It kind of reminds me of Star Wars: Dark Forces.
That's why I started Boltgun too... though now that I think about it, I don't recall hearing any talking in it yet.
Great photos !
Thanks!
Really liked Chants of Sennaar. It was good for my brain!
I liked experimenting with units, skills and equipment in unicorn overlord
I was in Italy from 26th to 2nd as well! Tuscany this time (amalfi and Rome last year). Sigh, then back to the real world of work.
I'm glad you enjoyed Italy! I'll be going there again next year. It's an awesome place to visit.
Can't blame you for disliking Rome. It has its moments but I agree with everything you described.
Unicorn Overlord is still my favorite game so far this year. I was so sad when I finally beat it.
This is at least the third time I’ve heard about Rome-it sounds like a tourist trap!
congrats on your trip to Italy, I saw some photos and they are super cool
glad you could have a great birthday gift
btw, there is a place call Florianópolis, at Brasil, I think it has some places with mountains and beach
if you ever have the chance to go there, do it (if you haven't of course)
animal well remind me a lot limbo, I think you already reviewed this game
and the unicorn game I think it is the same gender as Shining force, a sega old game I played
also, it is great you could finish unicorn, and I ask you again, whan are you going to finish Silent Hill? :B!
it is really great, it is super super scary but I think you should totally go through it
I want to play sh2 soon
thanks for the review
As beautiful as EVER!! ❤️
From what I've seen and heard, Unicorn Overlord sounds a lot like Ogre Battle 64; one of my favorite games.
amazing
Italy is beautiful💯💯💯
Cool. Traveling rocks
I was in Italy last summer and agree that Rome is not a place I would visit again. I got to see the Colosseum. Spanish Steps and the Vatican, which was fun, but otherwise if felt like any other big city I've been to, just more tourist traps and the fear of pickpockets added for good measure. Definitely considering Amalfi Coast and Sicily for next year, though.
Unicorn Overlord is great. If you like it you'd probably also really enjoy the Ogre Battle games. Ogre Battle: March of the Black Queen on SNES and Ogre Battle 64: Person of Lordly Caliber on N64. Similar type of gameplay
I think an Ogre Battle just got a remaster too? Or maybe is getting a remaster soon.
@@Cannotbetamed1 unfortunately it did not, you're probably thinking of Tactics Ogre. Same universe but different gameplay. Ogre Battle is more similar to Unicorn Overlord where you have units of up to 5 characters. Definitely check it out if you get a chance! Id suggest the original over Ogre Battle 64
Glad the puppers also had the time to have a vacation :)
agree 100% on Tales of Kenzera. i think it hurt them to make it seems like a stand metroidvania
Honestly just finished Hidden through time which is a Hidden Object Game. The game travels to different time periods and cultures and changes up the things you looking for. Game was very relaxing. Other then that I have been playing Valhem online with my friends, were have been building up our viking village since the beginning of the year.
Hidden through Time looks very cute.
I love Unicorn Overlord. I chose Railanor.
You unlock stuff after you beat the game. I haven't gone back after I beat it but I need to. I think I put in over 70 hours.
My maiden was Renault. I did go back for a bit after I beat it.
Aww mom is so cute
Awesome
I like checking off lists, too! I've had my eye on Animal Well for quite some time, and was going to play the Knight Witch demo, but I think you saved me the time on the latter, since I'm not a big fan of card-based stuff, unless it's purely aesthetic, like with Arcana for the SNES.
For me, I've just been working on my Yakuza marathon; it's been equal parts actually playing the games and completing at least all substories and major side content (the secret boss fights have been SPECTACULAR) and getting my Steam saves to jive with the GOG versions of the games. I have all the saves up and running, so I can use New Game + to cut down on grinding, and acutally playing them, I'm about halfway, sine I just finished 3 last night.
I'm glad you enjoyed Italy! Sorry to hear about your experience in Rome. It's definitely calmer in the fall and winter. I had the same experience of being harassed by street peddlers when I went to Venice, which completely turned me off. I'm actually heading to Sicily myself next week. 😁
Ooh, Sicily sounds nice, have fun!
@@Cannotbetamed1 Thanks!
I couldn't get into Knight Witch either. I'm currently playing Prison City, it's fun 😊😊😊
I've got Prison City, but I haven't tried it yet.
BIGMODE! I like to feel smart. Play Selaco, you will love it methinks.
Unicorn Overlord. Are there multiple paths for you to follow? player agency? emergent gameplay perhaps? Looks like it's very linear.
No, there's no role-playing.
Looking all refreshed and glowing
I spent most of last month playing Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. Unfortunately this is the time of year I get a lot of migraines otherwise I would have probably reached the point I'm planning to take a break from it before June started. Unicorn Overlord is something I hope to get soon because its gameplay sounds a lot like Ogre Battle and Ogre Battle is my favorite console SRPG
Hello Pam!
Hello!
looking rested and healthy 👀
There are a billion video game channels on youtube, I chose yours because I liked your attitude. But I was referred to yours by the 'algorithm' btw :))
Welcome!
I always give you a thumbs up no matter what. Not this this didn't deserve it
Italy is great, though I haven't been for a long time. Amalfi and Rome were great.
Re the games. Animal Well, I've nearly completed, and it's interesting to say the least. Chants I've only played the demo of and the demo of Unicorn Overlords is just sitting on my Switch menu waiting to be played.
Engagement for the engagement god!
So sweet of you to share with us your trip and pictures. We're so lucky to be your fans.
Last month I played Phantom Liberty, which is 100% better than the original game, to the point that now I think Cyberpunk 2077 has become a landmark game of the genre. Stories are better, characters are better, side gigs are more elaborate, and the totally revised skill tree is better too. To those who haven't played the game, the original game's premise is that a digital "identity" (played by Keanu Reeves) is inside you and works with you. Phantom Liberty reuses that premise a bit, and has another person (a female hacker named Songbird) put inside you and asking you for help.
I would like to try Cyberpunk at some point.
I haven't played any games lately and it's hard to keep up with all of it so thanks for torturing yourself for us 😌
I would like to take a trip somewhere after summer, I'd like to take my dad but he's a bit of a trouble maker 😒
One of my cats gave birth to a Tuxedo Cat but it'll be up for adoption because I don't need anymore and great for Lilly Dog
Happy Belated Birthday to you and your Mom 💐💐🎁🎁 are y'all Scorpio Women?

@@Cannotbetamed1 Ultra rare occurrence 😳
Isn't Pompeii amazing? It's an instant frozen in time, so well preserved... even the graffiti tells us that in the 2000 odd years since we haven't matured much! Having the crowds is appreciated too as it helps you appreciate the sheer scale of the place! I never felt crowded even though people were everywhere; it helped get this feeling of a busy life.
Amalfi coast is on my list the next time I go, looks so good, I'm jealous!
Agree Rome isn't that great (other than the ruins etc) - my companion at the time had to fend off some creepy "BELLLA... BELLLA" commentary... yuck.
If you ever go back, consider Tuscany (I can recommend the best tour guide I have ever been with hahaha)... Herculaneum (although I really don't like Naples much!)...
If you go to Pisa, just do a day there - it's kind of a regrettable place (watching a 30 year old woman push an elderly man on the bus guarantees I'll never respect the town!). The Tower is great and worth spending the money to climb, it's an indescribable experience being on an angle but your perception is that you're on a level surface.
Or not, just throwing ideas, I share your love of the country :p
Yes, Pompeii was incredible! It's amazing how murals have remained, and the design of the city is so cool.
I definitely want to see Tuscany.
💗
Got to platinum Unicorn Overlord, Pamela. If you don't, I will.I'm considering Night Witch. Haven't been to Italy yet. Where will your next Voyage take you?
I'm going to Cape Breton in the fall.
@@Cannotbetamed1 I've never been to the Maritimes as well.... Take us with you!
🇵🇱bardzo dobry film 🇵🇱
Unicorn overlord looks amazing I should really try it out and oh my GAWD Pam you’re so beautiful😮 😂
@Cannotbetamed1 ... Wonderful to hear you had a superb trip to Italy. 🙂 That said, are you going to try out the Night Springs DLC for Alan Wake II ? It's slightly brief, but super dense with awesomeness. ☕🔦
Yes, I just upgraded to the Deluxe edition yesterday. I will play it soon.
@@Cannotbetamed1 ... Can't wait to hear your thoughts 🙂 I may have bought the game twice, but by golly that collector's edition got pre-ordered almost right away the other day.
❤
I discovered (or re-discovered) you today, looking for adventure games stuff.. and.. now I see you were in Rome!
I'm from Rome!
Sorry you got a bad experience: roads' traffic is huge and I bet for tourists it could be better to stay away from some tourists trap places during the day and avoid the stress or just got the right attitude to keep those people out of their personal space.
If you are into arts, monuments, history.. that's the way to go.. but services for quality of life are bad here.
Not sure if you would like this game based your preferences but I personally think Selaco is a great game worth a try to see if you might like it
What no suntan ? Italy are infamous for great suntans!!
This is me with a suntan.
oh ! Dont look like you have on ,I think you should of got a bit more suntaning while you were in Italy ,
planning on playing NIne Sols? it just came out and its good
Maybe if it comes to console.
I haven't been playing anything except a little Balatro and Fallout 3. I have such a hard time starting a game any more. Some day I'll start 9 Years of Shadows.
Not much to say other than one can tell easily that the trip was great, just from the expression on the thumbnail.
Since it's on my mind I was just wondering if you're going to check out the Xbox direct today?
I am. Planning to stream it on Twitch too.
i bought chants of sennar recently, but i've been nervous to play it similar to what you said - worried i'll get started, not play it for a couple of weeks for whatever reason, then come back and be overwhelmed as i've forgotten everything. i worry it'll end up like return of the obra dinn, a game i recognise as great but bounced off for similar reasons.
recently played:
- crow country - excellent
- indika - ...interesting
- duck detective: the secret salami - fun but short
- senua's saga: hellblade 2 - oh boy...presentation-wise amazing, but it feels like a real step down from the first game. it's not BAD, but almost everything other than its presentation feels a bit worse, it's shorter, and it costs more. disappointing
I started Hellblade 2 and I'm honestly kinda bored. So far there have been no environments that really stood out to me like the first (it's all been dark and bloody), and the whispers in my ears don't have as much of an impact. That boss music though, amazing.
Your comment about Rome and how people harassed you about buying stuff... reminds me of my trip I took to China. The locals there would not leave me alone. I just wanted to sight see.
Have you played the Shantae series?
I tried one of them and bounced off it real quick.
Italia
Hi Pam I beat in stars in time didn't complete it but you know I feel like I still got my money's worth. But I needed a pick me up it was kind of a rough month so I played and I completed like a dragon the man who erased his name. Ironically just before they announced the new TV show so I'm now playing through infinite wealth and I grab a couple of matches of helldivers here and there but I've been playing power wash simulator mostly on my PlayStation That's about it actually wait no I forgot I'm playing the mad Max game too because I saw furiosa that was a good movie It's a shame my theater closed down right after but it is what it is
I want to play Stars in Time, I really liked the Prologue.
@@Cannotbetamed1 it's good only had one...I guess you would call it a jump scare but what was neat was it was on a savefile I had reloaded from the night before I don't know how I triggered it might be random but yeah the repetition does get a bit grating so I'd recommend maybe rocking some music or a podcast while checking a guide or something.
ariverderci pam pam
Nice knowing Italy treated you well....oh, Rome. Yeah. Same philosophy as Venice. Americans/Canadians/Chinese/Japanese = walking ATMs. Might as well try to squeeze as much as possible. Who's gonna see them again anyway. Right? Right.
See you've found good weather. Lately it's been a rollercoaster of heat-rain-heat-rain-heat-rain...today too. Jeez.
We were really lucky with the weather. Almost no rain and between 21-25 most days.
♥👍
30-40!? I spent about 200 hours in Unicorn Overlord...
👀
1:30 I know this is irrelevant it just reminds me of John Lennon and his son Sean both being born on October 9th
Did you bring a few bottles of wine home with you? 😉
I didn't bring any! I brought some Limoncello, but I gave it away to the people who took care of my dog and my plants.
