I'm very grateful to be an age where, like you, those New Year's bowls were such a big deal. Waking up on Jan 1 and maybe getting something to eat and turning on the Rose Parade which was on all four channels and then a full day of top notch football action. Praying for the Big 8 champ to not get thrashed in the Orange Bowl. The pageantry of the Rose Bowl especially when USC played, Keith Jackson on the call on ABC, or the great understated Dick Enberg. Good stuff.
This is THE big 12 show
Courts just dropped a juco decision that I think radically changes things positively for the Big 12, especially with 105 roster limits.
With the exception of the Alamo bowl, they are extremely important. Playing a tenth conference game does less than zero for either team involved, or the conference. It is CFB spitting in the Big12s face.
The case for bowl games. Literally everything else on tv
Yes the bowl games still matter for non-conference comparisions. College football, even in this day and age, has always been about the next man up. If you have players hitting the portal, your next player up better be ready. College programs should always be developingv the less talented players to step up, or why is your program recruiting them?
If most of the players hit the portal, looking at Marshall, then there is a huge problem with the program over all and the non-conference comparision doesn't even matter then.
Is this the only thing to continue to talk about. You already covered this is the bowl preview.
Can we get those Big B awards?
You guys had a great question about can a team separate and by the standard setter. Well go teach team and give a why and why not?
