Contrary to beliefs, lots of parents in the diaspora train their children to participate in house chores. My grown daughter can cook very well, apart from general house cleaning. I think children in the diaspora are more involved in chores than children in Nigeria due to parents not having help. I’m someone that was born in the diaspora and grew up here and friends like that and we all can cook and clean. Some even babysit their siblings from the age of 10.
